Hey plant fam! When selecting seeds for germinating pick the largest firmest seeds out of your seeds for better chances to germinate 🌻
Thank you 😊
Instead of cutting the plant to die..can i just deadheading the flower and let it dry?
And which flower bloom size should i pick? The full bloom is better or the one almost dry?
I did try collect the seed but most of the seed not fully black and it is thin..i dont knownwhen is thr best time to picknthe flower to get better fully thick black seed
@@AnwarriAbdullah you can deadhead the dried flower for sure n keep the seeds! Idk which flowers have been pollinated by the bees so it's hard to pick and choose which which flower. Pollination rates can vary depending on how many insects have pollinated
@@TheAdhdGardener Thank you and now I got the answer from you mentioning pollinated flower.
If y'all didn't already know, marigolds aren't pest-proof at all but they do have a special talent. They attract tiny parasitic wasps that eat aphids and lay their eggs in the larvae of whiteflies, moths, mealybugs, and stinkbugs. So marigolds don't repel pests, they call in targeted airstrikes on them.
I knew how to do this already, but I watched the whole video because I just love your voice and content. Lol!
Aww thanks so much for the love😉
Same!! Love the way she speaks, makes me more interested.
Yes. Plant marigolds everywhere.
Thank you for the close up of taking the seeds out - what I was searching for!
I just planted African marigold for the first time last week and I was really surprised how the seeds look. I am excited to see the flowers! Thanks for sharing!
This is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you.
... went with a million marigolds one year was great theme ... love how the group of seeds stay together in their flower holder while they cure ...
Very, very good. I learned what the seed part of a marigold is and your upclose camera views did just that. Also I learned from you marigolds come in purple.
Thank you for sharing this information. I have watch many videos on Marigolds but you made this one very simple to understand.
I absolutely do not like purchasing marigold starters, I never know if it'll grow to the sizes I desire! Thanks so much for your video, it's right in time for me to harvest the seeds this fall of 2022.
Best video yet on saving Margold seeds! Thank you!!!
No thank YOU!😁🌻
my mom always had marigolds and therefore so do i every summer. when you pulled in close to show the 'yanking' of the flower head it blew my mind and exclaimed out loud 'wow!!! i never knew that!!!' g'job 👍 😃
Wow thanks for this. Im going to do this with the plant I got this spring and hopefully I wont have to buy any of them next spring.
I just harvested my marigold seeds thanks for your informative video
my goofy behind just discovered this today! I pull off the heads as they die, then realized how many seeds I had from just one flower. So, I started saving the seeds today! I'll dry them all out and no doubt add a few seeds in the empty spaces where I've placed my roses this year. If for next year some of my marigolds die off, I'll have seeds to replant. We shall see how it goes. It gets cold and wet where I am and sometimes it'll rain more than I think it should causing root rot, so hopefully, harvesting these seeds will allow me to keep growing marigold in the Spring and perhaps into Fall. Maybe beyond that, depends on the frost. Thank you for this video. Took me a minute to find you and what I wanted to know specifically.
My first seed remover video. Perfect and thanks for sharing
Hey thanks for the video, my mother told me about the flower tops for seeds so i did a little bit more reserach.
I just dead headed my marigolds and decided how to harvest.....your video popped up first. You gotta like and anew sub.
Thank you. Besides marigolds I'm also in to gardening and indoor plants. Just a few hobbies that kinda clustered 😂.
I just wanted to leave this comment and say your attitude and mood, even your ‘accent’ makes me feel at home.

all the information I was looking for was in this video. thank you
No problemo😁🌻
Recently I spent a small fortune on geraniums only to have something (deer, rabbits, ???) eat them. Next year I'm planting marigolds. Thanks for the information.
I really enjoyed listening to you, thanks for the info!
Welcome!🌻
Warm green marigold leaves, extract juice. Great for earache. Two drops per ear. Very effective.
Thanks for sharing your talent
Just subbed. Love the attitude. Can't wait to see more videos.
I got lots of attitude for ya then😆welcome!🌻
Thanks for a great video on marigolds seeds saving. How do you prevent squirrels from munching on the flowers? Really annoying to find a plant of marigolds with no flowers! Thanks for your advice in advance.
I am with you on the standard yellow Marigolds. I like the multicolored ones. Orange Flame (orange center with red petals that have an orange trim) and Red Knight (yellow/gold center with red petals trimmed in yellow) are pretty!
Thank you so much! 💗💗 you made it clear
the other day bought some seeds, whilst simultaneously ripping out some that died early for some reason, not knowing all those little long wheat looking things was seeds haha. I'm gonna go see if I get any now, thank you!
What a great video i wanted to grow some for day of the dead next year.
Just start more seeds than you'd like. When I grew from my seeds my germination rate was not as high as I'd hoped
Love it! Thank you, subscribed!
that was super helpful and useful. subscribed!
Glad it helped!
Great. Thank you for sharing
THE ADHD GARDENER.... Well done 🤗 you have given me a new outlook on flower 🌼 gardening 🥰 I was about to give up and place plastic flowers 💐 in my flower 🌼 bed. I just recently threw out ALL of my dried 😩 out Miragolds. Thank you 😊 so much for this very informative video 📹
Fakes flowers are a major NO WAY in my home. Glad you're not giving up hope!!! U got this!!💯
... yes there is just the size plants for you to grow... miniature to large 4 and 5 foot plants ... love the mini and French marigolds as an option too ...
Thank you for sharing, peace and love to you too🥰👌🏾💖💕💞😘😘. Subscribed ASAP love love this marigold. You are awesome. 😀👍🏾
Appreciate it🌻 welcome to the plant squad

That worked I like the trick 🌱🌱🌱
I think you're great thanks for your help xxx
This is awesome! Thanks!
No problem!!💯
Awesome video. Answered every question. I agree about yellow marigolds. Why buy flowers that look like dandelions lol. I subscribed. Peace!
Cool I am gonna sub to your channel . Congrats on sobriety . God bless you . Plants are rewarding
Thank you for your valuable information! :) I also love to plant flowers and I have marigolds that I grew from purchased seeds. I would like to propagate them so I can give them away to friends as gifts. I live in Germany and my zone is 8b. Could you give me some advice on how to propagate marigolds from stems...and can I plant the seeds in the winter? Thank you in advance.
i like your personality
have a good day
Thanks so much for your information :)
Thanks for the video. love it.
No problem!🌻🌻
Iam planning to grow a native marrigold thanks to u mam
Thats great! Best of luck🌻
Nice experience presentation
Awesomeness ☀️🦋🙏
Thank you!
I enjoyed your video. TFS!
Use only the largest firmest seeds🌻
I don't know what that is but i'm enjoying your videos 😁
Thanks!🤗
Great video. I am currently drying the dead heads for next spring. What is the best way to store them? A jar or envelope maybe. Thanks for the great video.
An envelope, paper bag n even a ziploc(I have mine like that. Sometimes I add a bit of rice to the larger seeds so if there's any additional moisture, it'll get sucked up by the rice)
Thank you for sharing
LOL! I prefer the yellow and variegated to the solid orange 😁. Thanks for the info.
I've never seen those kinds before! Wow🌱
DANA.....yea my marigolds have same colors as yours, too...beautiful colors.
Great vid Thankyou 🙏
Thank you!!
Great video ❤
Great video!
Thanks!!
Wow thanks! :)
Great video!! Do you think you’d be able to a video about how you can use just plain marigolds for medical uses?
Thanks n I never thought about making a vid on medicinal uses🤔
Beautiful
I LOVE marigolds
You remind me so much of Leah Remini. Nice video.
I love her! We'd def get along💯😆
Hi iam Brett and I love merrigolds
I have the orange marigolds. Probably the ugly ones you don’t like. 😂
Fun learning video.
I’m not ADHD, but I am OCDish. 😜
Last year in the fall, I left my marigolds where I planted them all winter. In the spring I took them out after takeing the seeds out. Now I have tons of marigolds coming back.
Nice! What zone ya in? Def gonna try that this year
@@TheAdhdGardener I'm in zone 5.
Cool
Thank you. I just learned how to collect the seeds and I'm planning to plant the for the 2022 season. How early should I plant them indoors under lighting? Liked and Subscribed.
What zone are ya in? I'm in 6 so I start them generally in late March so they're a bit bigger to plant by May(head start) but I've started later than that. Luckily Marigolds hold up even to the first frost and then some!
How do they look now?
How long are the seeds good for? Can I collect seeds from dried-up pods in September and plant them NEXT SPRING?
Okay she is very cool women , that how you explain its like you really direct to the point 👍
Thanks alot!🌻
OH MY Gucci yes U welcome🌻 Am a beginner try to make my flower beautifull thanks for the saving seeds tips .
wow.. great idea.. I think they are edible too
Yep the petals are edible 😋
What does it do to your body good for what when you eat those flowers?
Crispy dead.
I love it!
😂 some of the things I say
so once you get all the black seeds aside, do you have to pull off the white part at the end, or can you just put both parts in to grow? I loved your video and voice/narrative style, thank you for posting this video.
I leave it on. Too tedious to take them all off😁🌻
No, you do not need to pull off the white part. Just plant the seed as is!
You are so funny ❤️❤️🤣🤣
I see some nice looking luffa growing
😄 you're right
@@TheAdhdGardener what variety are you growning
Marigolds give hundreds of seeds! Thank you!
I was able to harvest them, but it is a bit challenging for me to germinate my seeds.
I signed up
I don’t like the orange ones. I like the yellow and yellow with red spots on them..🌼🌼
Just found out today about pulling the seeds from dried marigold flowers. It’s May and I want to put some in my garden. Can they be planted this year? Also if I put them in/around my garden to keep pests away will this keep bees and butterflies from germinating my veggies?
Bees and butterflies love them, I have watched them all summer .
I am in the process of harvesting my Marigold seeds for next year (2023). Is there anything I should do BEFORE, I plant them next year? Should I put them in darkness during the winter months? Is it ok to store them in a glass jar? Should they be completely dry before I store them?
The seeds should be dry b4 storing. Glass jar or envelope is good. Store in a cool dark space. If using jar then an even darker spot like a cabinet
Are there other uses for the seeds other than keeping them to plant next year? I read a blog some gal made that said she fed them to her chickens, so I'm collecting some for my friend's three chickens. Other than that I don't know what to do with all of the seed I have. O-O
U can give the chickens the marigold flowers I can assume the seeds too🤷♀️
What’s the latest time of the year I can sow marigold seeds? How long does it take for a marigold to grow from seed to maturity? Thanks in advance!
Marigolds tends to be fast growers so I'd def start now indoors or sow some seeds in milk jugs n put it outside. They flower within 2 months time
Very nice ❤❤❤pakisten 🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😅😅
Okay so I just started 6 marigolds 2 are sprouting right( you know like you can see the green loop) and 2 look like just a brown stick barely poking out right now and the last two, nothing yet. So my question is: is there an "upside down" way to plant the seed?
If I understand your question correctly youre wondering if positioning your seed in the soil right is upside down or not? If so, then technically yes. For most seeds there is one end that pops out the stem n other root. Some seeds however ya can't even tell which side is which(imagine the round brassica seeds). Besides the plant will fix direction n come up regardless.😁🌻
Forgive me if this question was already asked. How do I plant the marigold seeds ?
Can u upload next part. Like how you keep them alive for months. As I am in Pakistan and Summer last for like 8 to 9 months.
It'll have to be in the summer but to maintain Marigolds is pretty easy. As they continue to flower, fertilize every 2-3 weeks depending on strength. Also pluck off the dead flowers to encourage new growth
Can I pinch off the dead flowers from my marigolds and stick them in my dehydrator to dry them out faster?
Good question. Tbh I'm not sure about that. So long as the flower was pollinated I wouldn't think the drying part mattered. Time for u to experiment!
Hi..is it best to save seeds in the fall before a hard frost than saving the first set of seeds..i think the seeds are probably best as the plant ages? That's my theory..i could be wrong..also..the seeds should be hard and not bendable right?thank you
Well I currently am sowing those very same seeds and I'm getting 60% germination. Some seeds bend n those I won't use
@@TheAdhdGardener ok great..thx for your help
I have marigold farm👍
Can you only harvest seeds at the end of the plant's lifecycle, or can you also harvest the seeds throughout the lifecycle once you see certain flowers die off (deadheading I guess)? Thank you so much!
U can pull off one dead flower at a time n collect too while you're deadheading
@@TheAdhdGardener Ok awesome!! Should I let the spent flower dry out as much as possible while it is still attached before I pluck it, or go ahead and pluck it when it still has color, but you can tell it is on its way out and feels a bit crunchy (like a week or 2 after it's prime)? Sorry for the questions I'm completely new when it comes to flowers and gardening :)
will they still germinate even if the seeds are brownish in color?
Im currently trying to germinate those very same seeds now. The seeds that are super flimsy n not sturdy don't really work. They gotta be a firm seed. Also in regards to color I chose the darkest most vibrant seeds as I feel that they were pollinated the best
I've planted Marigold Seed's and they never came up they're first or second generation, in fact they are store bought Seed's , they got plenty of Sun and water, and plant food mix, so please tell me what I did wrong
If you're saving your own seeds n nothing came up it could've been that that flower that the seeds came from didn't get pollinated. Happened to me. As far as from the store I know they require alot of water to get started
my lord.....look at the size of those cucumbers in the background
From Dead to live Again?
I tried to plant those once, I must have planted like 30, not even one grew. Do they need polination?
In my experience Marigolds need bees to pollinate. Problem is idk if the seeds are viable without pollination. I grew out of my own seeds and I got only 30% germination. Def NOT good. Ima try again this year. Id plant extra to compensate
@The Adhd Gardener Thank you ^^, you're right. I searched some more and find one forum where someone says that they need to be pollinated.
Outside, Marigolds get easily pollinated by insects (flower contains both male and female parts), but indoors (like in my situation), I had no pollinators. Pollination can be done manually with a brush.
I bet pollinating it manually would increase your germination rate :P
@@mustang19ms absolutely! Toothbrush trick works!. I grow tomatoes indoors during winter and I use a toothbrush. Tap tap tap one flower then tap tap tap another. I did it daily or so till I was sure something caught. You gave me a video short idea. Thanks!🤗🌻
@@TheAdhdGardener Coool, good luck with the video :P
Can i grow matigold in the philipines? Even if its around 25-35 celcius i am worried it might die
I grow them in Indonesia so they should also grow in the Philippines.
They sure will grow!
