How to Grow Grass and Hay in Farming Simulator 19!!

- This video guide for Farming Simulator 19 shows the basics of growing grass and hay. Main tasks: plowing or cultivating, sowing, fertilizing, mowing, tedding, windrowing, baling, and collecting.
This is a quick guide that covers EVERYTHING you need to know when it comes to growing grass or hay in Farming Simulator 19. We will go over every aspect of grass and hay from sowing to baling.
Also, I did not mention this in the video but you can mow when it's raining outside and produce hay as well, unless you have seasons turned on then you may be able to mow but getting the grass to dry out is more of a challenge and may rought in the rain.

I think it would be neat if they could get the license for the Stinger hay stacker and put a mod out for it. I worked a summer stacking hay with one of those, they can stack round or square bales pretty quickly

late to it but i like to use that cheap forage harvester collect the grass till i get a lump of it then usualy have around 100k or more letters of grass dump in a big pile ted it and let it dry(when in seasons). then the pick up only takes couple passes cause in a nice pile idk was good to have it all in a pile and could save up a large amount till a good day to dry. if rain happens to came threatening to rot it can quickly pickup. great video man late night bridge tender thanks for the video.

I don't understand why grass and hay are two different things. I buy grass hay for my horses all the time. There's many types of hay, alfalfa, timothy, brome grass, orchard grass...etc. Confusing

Super helpful video! The best part for me was when you talked about the "swath mode."
My question, though - I plowed one of my fields, subsequently planting grass with one of the large, red seed drills. However, as it has been growing, I do see blades of grass, but the base of the ground remains plowed field. Any advice here?
Ive never seen that happen. May be a map issue to be honest. If it still is growing and you can harvest it fine it should be fine otherwise try selling the field and buying it again to reset it

Everyone mentions the front loader attachment but never just a skid steer like that's base game to I used that so much at my grams farm personal would choose that over front loader
I would like to know what bag the grass seed is. It does not say it on the bag.
The field I’ve got ain’t square and the harvester struggles with it so I wanna square it off. I planted grass but when I do AI they go over the grass I planted. How can I make them stop doing it

As far as fertilizing goes, manure goes into a manure spreader, slurry and digestate goes into a slurry spreader or tanker, liquid fertilizer goes into a sprayer, solid fertilizer goes into a spreader. Hope that helps, if you want to spread manure you need to buy a manure spreader from the store :)

Bailed grass can not be turned to hay, semi wet grass is only in seasons which this video does not cover, semi wet grass needs to be dried by leaving it out until it is hay. Hope that helps!

You shouldnt have to turn it on, grass on a map should be mowable if you own the land and you should be able to plant it in fields if you want it there
So is it only dependent on what specific seeder you use to plant the seed? Cause I used the one that cultivates and seeds all at once and as soon as I loaded the seed I to the machine it read as wheat instead of grass.

Hi FarmerCop. I have mowed the outskirts of my farm (the grass on the ground). I did this about 2-3 times. I now have patches on the ground of where the grass will not grow back. It just will not grow. What can I do to make it grow? Thx.
Try repainting on the grass using the landscape tool, it may also just be an issue with the map

Thanks for this video. I’m trying to do a bailing contract and it lets me mow it and goes to 20% progress and stops. I thought it was because I was using my personal tractor to Tedder but that idea didn’t work. I tried this contract again numerous times and still no change. Then long story short I had to restart the entire game so I thought why not let’s try again and still the same thing even though only using the tractor leased from owner for the job?????
Make sure you are making silage bales, contracts are always for silage bales
I always lease the equipment from the field owner and it is just a grass field so nothing about silage. I even delivered two loads to the barn the first time. Since then without progress I just take it to my farm.

Yes to make hay you need a Tedder which dries out the grass into hay so if you just want to get grass for silage or something else all you have to do is cut it and collect it

I’m probably doing something wrong but when I grow grass, weeds grow as well
It may not be you doing anything wrong, I have had that happen before on a modded map. It should not happen but you can still counteract the effects using herbicide or weeders. Sometimes the only way to fix the issue is plowing over the grass and replanting it

@@jakelawson5130 if you use the maizeplus forage extension and plant fieldgrass, it will get weeds as this grass can be harvested with a combine

Some grass in the final stage is colorful. Depends on the textures on that map
Where can you drop grass off to sell it. Like it's in my loading wagon. Where can I sell it
Depending on the map, on the standard in game maps you can take it to the barn sell point, if you have seasons turned on then you cant sell it.

Yes! Well usually, some maps the grass texture is flat and those wont grow but most maps it does grow as normal, you wont get as much yield it of it as a fertilized grass field however
@@FarmerCop thanks man, funny story I jut started plowing 10 minutes later I leave the game(on cbox games save so if you don’t enter another game it comes back where you left off however it only takes place for game that pause when in pause menu) so I get back and everywhere I didn’t plow has grown

Make sure plant growth is on slow, normal or fast in the game menu and not off
Mrsealyp did a video where he tested the grass yield and the results showed that plowing and adding lime does nothing for yield. Just field grass with 2 fert stages is more than normal grass.
I realized that after posting this, however, if you do lime and plow before planting grass, though it wont improve yield that field will never ask for plowing or lime again as long as you just keep grass in it

Hay is made from tedding grass, so you plant grass to eventually get hay

If you paint over it in landscaping mode it will delete it, otherwise you need to pick it up to sell it

Yes, you can usually sell it at the barn depending on what map you are on, most maps have a barn that allows you to sell straw at it. Occasionally maps will have a BGA that takes straw as well.

All seeds are identical so just buy seeds in the store and set the seeder to whatever vrop you wish to grow

This map is Ravenport I believe or felsbrun, I only use base game maps for these tutorials

Ngl whenever I get farming simulator I have 2 saves a legit save where I ACTUALLY do it properly & a cheat/ fun/ sandbox mode where I go into documents games saved games farms & change my money to like something stupid like 10000000. & just buy everything
Best way to get money both FS19 as well as FS22 is the coverment signs saying gover property or something like that place 10 = 1M in 1 game our 1 hour of real life and u have 1K signs = 732.4M that’s the total I got for mine now I’m over 999,999,999 plus

@@FarmerCop I didn't cultivate it and then after I did it wouldn't grow i have plant growth on fast and the time on the 120 so it will go faster I ended up creating a new game save
