With the elevation in fight 2 Leon was fighting against endurance not against a dominant Usman. He won the 1st round and gassed like everyone else that night except for Usman since he trains there. Then he dominates in the 3rd fight. Why would the 3rd fight suggest Leon is a knockout artist if he didn't get the finish? If you rewatched the fight Leon simply demands respect on the feet. Forcing his opponents to be thinking about how to be offensive without losing defense. If they don't give respect well I would say Leon has a pretty good chance to knock them out or rust rock them over and over again

you have no idea about the judging criteria, in a way you answered your own question, yes damage and serious submission threats trumps everything, if these are even you look at lighter strikes and submission attempts, after that you look at take downs and control time, and last criteria agression if everything else evens out.... and as you said, damage was pretty even, atleast in first four, then you have islam pushing some submission threats, the danger was there and volk was continuously hand fighting, then you have the body triangle, back take and lastly control time, if damage is dead even, how do you give these rounds to volk when islam had the upper hand in every aspect.
I would argue that Volk asserted a case for round 2 on the feet but islams important strikes and overall presence in the octagon was more controlling to win that round for him easily as well as the clinch. Round 3 was definitely folks but islam 100% won that fight with all the aforementioned things you named especially his submissions attempts in round 1, 4 and even 3

Got back in, Risked his ranked 3, Accepted a fight with unranked Khamzat, accepted a fight with unranked Diaz and accepted a fight with Ranked 13 Belal. Sean success should be a blueprint for future fighters, he's doing his persona to sell tickets, is an exciting fighter, but outside of the octagon he seems a down to earth dude and a fan of the sport. I re watched the islam vs volk fight yesterday since it just got posted on youtube for free. Islam won that fight 4-1. With Volk winning the 5th even though Islam was winning that round up until the last minute. Islam was holding on for dear life during the last 30 seconds of Volk being ontop of him cause he had nothing left in the tank. If the fight was longer, Volk prob wins. BUT IT ISN'T. SO PUT SOME RESPECT ON ISLAM.
