    The best decision I ever made was to fall in love with a French woman. In all honesty, her sincerity and undivided attention are what spark my interest. As a man, I always pay for the meals because I want her to have a good experience. Sometimes, she insists on helping with the bill, but I accept her gestures on a few occasions to let her know I trust her. Communication is key for the relationship.

      It happens a lot with the younger culture. As a younger American myself, my own adolescent experiences tell me *dating multiple partners* can also translate to *having multiple intimate relations simultaneously.* For example, last night you made out with (A) but today you held hands with (B) and conversed for hours. But tomorrow you'll be seeing (A) again because she is all about fun. Of course, your background and environment ultimately plays a part on your relationships. But I do believe young Americans seem to be more open-minded than ever before.

      I would say if youre exclusive then yes. But if youre not exclusive you have no reason to only focus on just one. It's about communication and being on the same page with your partner.

    Dating is so different in France. If an American guy really likes a girl, he will have the exclusivity talk really fast. It’s weird because in one respect there is more freedom to date multiple people without commitment, but! It also brings stress of not knowing. Now with the French , I think you can relax because it’s exclusive from the start. Love your videos! ❤️🇺🇸❤️

    Hi Manon. The video was great. To your question on experiences, I would say your American experience on dating is on par with what I would say is the normal American college experience. And in particular college experience when you go to a college where people leave their home towns and live on campus. There will for sure be a difference between big city, to rural, to commuter college, 20s, 30s, 40s, and everything in between. But yes, this is what I experienced when I left my suburb of a big American city, and went away to school in a large campus with 30,000 other people my age just trying to figure out life. Keep it up, we all enjoy the videos!

    I think here in the states there are a variety of factors that go into how we date. Location, up bringing, age, religion, and demographic cultures. I live in rural America, so the dating pool is small and folks tend to know one another through families or other relationships. Apps don't help in these areas so it comes down to folks you know from your hometown or nearby towns. If you don't meet someone in high school or shortly there after it gets harder to meet someone as you get older.

    • @manonbtravels6343
      @manonbtravels6343  Před 3 lety +3

      Yeah for sure ! All these factors are important to keep in mind ! Oh yeah that must be a little harder and a bit stressful I guess, I always lived in pretty areas so never had to experience this. Thank for your comment

      _Old_ at 20??? Not being able to “meet” someone after turning twenty is a bit of an exaggeration. I think it is kind of obvious to most boys (…of all ages) but the girls we fall in love with are in their teens and twenties. We are programmed to see everything about them as being irresistible . I think the interesting phenomena is that if we know them when they are in their teens or twenties, we can still fall in love with them in their eighties. I’ve seen a lot of examples of this. The _look_ of teens and twenties are so compelling to boys of all ages that the memory is still compelling to us decades later.
      Personally, I was always chasing the girls that were a few (one to three, let’s say) years older than me. I think I liked the intellectual challenge that they presented, but, who knows. Once I got to thirty, I still loved all the great loves of my life (…who had all move on) but I never fell in love, again (…well, almost never). There were younger girls who I thought were very accomplished that pursued me when I was thirty-ish but somehow they weren’t enough and their youth actually turned me off (…which is not saying they weren’t easy on the eyes).
      I think the moral of my experience is to “gather yee rosebuds while yee may”. Boys are put on this earth to fertilize eggs so girls can build their empires. That’s really all we boys are good for. Boys fall in love and the passion that follows when the girl lets them get close to her just reinforces that devotion (love=devotion). Boys have a limited amount of time to ‘seal the deal’ because the girls eventually get tired of one-guy. Once girls have babies of their own, they discover what love is and it is possible for them to fall in love with the boy.
      Of course, once you are thirty, all bets are off. Everybody else has already paired-off. I remember being in Paris when I was in my early thirties and playing nurse-maid to a couple of 17-18 year old Dutch girls I met in Maisons Laffitte. I took them to a sous-sol in the Quartier Latin one night (…open from Metro closing to Metro opening). Frankly, I was a little too old for such shennigans but the girls brought back good memories. We were rousted by the flics at dawn while we waited for the Metro to open (…What is a thirty-something doing with a couple of teenagers in Paris at the crack of dawn) but the girls praised me to the skies. I had fulfilled their wildest dreams, it seems. Although, at times like that I remember thinking that there was nobody left for me.
      Finding love is a numbers game. I mean, girls won’t actually return your love until you fertilize those eggs. In the meantime, you have to break a lot of eggs to make an omelet. I think it is much worse for the current generations. So many woman, these days, use the power of birth control and abortion to make sure that they are never inconvenienced by children. This seems to be vastly increasing the number of neurotic boys living in their mother’s basements. What’s going to happen to them when their mother’s pass on??? There will not be enough institutions to hold them all.

    • @NestofWeasels
      @NestofWeasels Před 3 měsíci

      This was a good topic. The subject matter evolves with the progress of technology, quit a bit, so while it is bewildering to _me_, it was interesting to learn about the current state of affairs (…no pun intended). I was a soldier in the sexual revolution (…the French won _that_ battle) but the generation before could not get away with a fraction of what we could do. I kind of doubt I could date by the current rules of the day. I was never much of a rule follower and, in my day, the first rule was that there were no rules. But, somehow, I think I would get along fine - - up until the point the girl told me she was determined to never have babies [shrug]. What is the point of dating when you are faced with that???

  • @DJ_FLUX

    Bonjour! I loved your explanation on the differences in dating. Interestingly, much of what I've heard from other French people in periodicals is somewhat opposite, that "dating" is very casual and flirting is abundant regardless of relationship status. It's quite common to go out to dinner multiple times together, but it's not considered dating. That French women are more interested in taking a lot of time getting to know the person before they consider dating them.
    Personally, I do not fall into your experiences with typical American dating scenarios. I've never been interested in casually dating multiple women simultaneously. It makes me uncomfortable because if I do want to date someone, it's because I'm very interested in them, and not interested in dating others just for fun. Maybe I'm old fashioned that way, but I'd rather be with one amazing woman and devote my attention to her, than to a whole lot of other women that I'm not as interested in for a relationship. In fact, I've never dated 2 women at the same time, even briefly. It's just not my style. If I've found someone that I like so much, I'm not even noticing other women - only the one I want to be with. Oddly, my mentality is not commonly shared as you pointed out in your experiences. I'm more of a relationship guy. I'm not interested in going from one woman to the next. And most women here don't seem to be interested in guys like that. Which makes the right woman all the more special and why I'm interested in being with her than multiples others. Which is also why I've never once cheated in a relationship. I'm 110% devoted to the person I'm with. When you truly love someone, how could you not?
    I'm going to France for 3 weeks, Paris included. I like your perspective on dating. And hopefully, I'll meet someone like you.

    As for dating here in the US I watch a lot of videos about how bad Tinder is and it is all about women and men really have no chance of meeting anyone on that app.?. They say it is all one sided and most men won't even try it any more partly because the standards that American women have developed over the last few years have become just to ex-stream for any man to meet.
    That's what I see and hear anyway, it is mostly just a hook-up app and that's about it.

    We don’t do multiple dates at once much anymore because it gets complicated fast. Instead we tend to have one girl and usually it goes well. Trust me it ain’t worth it especially when you schedule like three dates on one night. Yeah complicated real fast. In Florida the gun laws are kinda hard on us fortunately most of the dates I had when I met the parents usually it goes quite well as as I come from a hard working family that owned it’s own business giving us good connections with communities and the local police who frequented us as support. The girls I dated were from hard working families that were mostly blue collar that worked offices or places that you know are middle class. Orlando is pretty middle class with maybe three areas that are higher end like rich minus the celebrity houses which we never see. You just need to see that’s all.

I like to be alone so I don't get together with men who cannot handle being alone. Romance and sexuality is VERY exclusive to me. Leave it to Americans to apply capitalism to picking a partner. They act like they need to "test drive" a lot of people....yuck. not sexy.

    In the northern U.S. it's not common to date multiple people at the same time, it would be awkward and upsetting to find out that you are just one of several. We think French are more open about love and relationships because the movies depict it that way. There are always some sexy scenes or infidelity in the French cinema, as well as a culture which accepts mistresses. Maybe that is just for cool style? I'm not sure.

      Think it depends on the person and stage honestly. Nobody would tell one person they are dating that they are dating other people but it goes on a lot with some people. It's not considered weird either because why put all your eggs in one basket before you really get to know someone. It would honestly be strange if a girl told me she's not dating other people while we are just in the dating phase. When things start to get serious that's a different story and things tend to evolve into either a conversation or it's obvious that you're each seeing the other person only. How is it obvious? Someone goes to a wedding/date function etc. with said person or you're spending so much time together it would be pretty hard to date someone else.

    In the US the man should always pay for all of the first few dates. No exceptions!! It's the gentlemanly thing to do and after a 2 or 3 dates then it's OK to share.

    Theres no difference dating in France vs US what so ever.. it just seems different in my opinion. Maybe the french know how to french kiss more passionately. The only difference maybe just the fashion, the food and the language. Maybe women are more open to meeting men in public than in the US?

    I rarely hear of men paying for a date, usually it's split. It's pretty much women who want men with a lot of money who think the man should always pay. The women who don't exactly want a rich man still want the man to pay for the date. But I personally don't know any women or men that think the man should pay the whole bill of a date. The idea that a man should always pay for a date simply because he's a man is pretty unfair and unrealistic when most people in the US struggle financially. The women who insist on a man paying instead of splitting the bill think this is 'feminist' but I don't think it is. I think feminism is a belief that women should be equal to men in all ways in a culture with a gender gap - that means paying your share. To insist that the man pays alone every time isn't about equality, it's trying to be superior. Women in the US all have different ideas on what 'feminism' is and the sugar baby/sugar daddy niche has ruined dating because it created a demand that couldn't be met because most Americans are underpaid. Understandably this has caused quite a bit of resentment & frustration for American men that are actually very nice and would make wonderful partners. Everyone in America seems to have this fantasy of living in luxury and the pick-me culture caused by dating apps has made it worse in America too because it gave us too many options, so it feeds on our 'fear of missing out' or FOMO as it's called in business. Most have a certain 'standard' on what they want in a partner physically (men & women in the US are guilty of this) which is also unrealistic as well as childish since this standard is set by what we see projected by celebrities and appearance changes and it's not healthy to think change can be corrected with surgery (which is what caused unrealistic appearance standards in our partners in the first place. It's a toxic cocktail of many elements that ruined dating in America. Sorry, this is so long but I understand the frustrations we feel with dating in America.
    PS I've never heard of a woman being naive enough to have their date pick them up from their home these days. That is dangerous. Should always meet your date at the location even if you can't drive. That's what uber, lyft & taxis are for.
    Great video, warm regards ☺
