Lyrics:
We are young, we run green
Keep our teeth nice and clean
See our friends, see the sights
Feel alright
We wake up, we go out
Smoke a fag, put it out
See our friends, see the sights
Feel alright
Are we like you?
I can't be sure
Of the scene, as she turns
We are strange, in our worlds
But we are young, we get by
Can't go mad, ain't got time
Sleep around if we like
But we're alright
Got some cash, bought some wheels
Took it out, through some fields
Lost control, hit a wall
But we're alright
Are we like you?
I can't be sure
Of the scene, as she turns
We are strange, in our worlds

2001: Supergrass was behind 9/11!!
I agree man.
is a track about being young, embracing independence, and feeling content with life, no matter how strange it may be. It encourages the listener to see themselves and their lives as unique and special, but also to be grateful for the small everyday comforts that make life enjoyable. The song encourages the listener to talk to friends, go out, and explore, while also taking the time to appreciate life’s little joys. In the end, the song reminds the listener that it is alright to be young and free.
Great analysis. It would have taken me probably 20 listens of the full song to really understand half of that on my own.
And also to smoke a fag

I was today years old when I discovered this as a whole.
I've been hearing parts of it in commercials and soundtracks for decades and today I got to enjoy this masterpiece entirely. I feel regret and happy at the same time!
one of those songs that wouldn't sound out of place in the top 40 charts today. 1993-95 is still alive and kicking!!
I never knew the release date for this song. I thought it could have been anything from 1968-2011.
To clarify it sounds like it could have been released in the late 1960s, it also has a 1990s alternative sound and a bit of late 2000s indie sound.
it's timeless for any young generation
Fitting into the charts of today isn't a compliment. This song is way too good compared to the literal crap that's getting into the charts nowadays...

I am old (well quite, at 62) and so don't take a big interest in contemporary pop, but I heard this song (somewhere, forget where) over the past few years on and off, and it felt like one of those special songs and voices that had a magic quality that somehow really moved me and made me feel, um, well happy and something else , something undefinable..
I came here today because the song was mentioned in "Pointless" (quiz show) as one in a list of "uplifting" songs, which I found very apt.
Haha, I guess if you're 62 it must be. I'm merely 44 and this song screams 21 years old to me :D

Helen Day Britpop genre songs from the 90's was a tribute to the 60's British invasion era..I guess most of these singers were either born or were kids during the 60's so they got effected by that. Like we..80's and early 90's born (I was born in 1990) people got effected by these Britpop songs from the 90's. So now any song that sounds like 90's songs or 90's Britpop to me makes me nostalgic and happy. Same happened to you I guess 90's britpop reminded you of the 60's British invasion era..your childhood and that made you happy.

I cannot believe Alright is 25 years old today. Its still a fantastic song to listen too and I wish I was young again. The 90s was a great decade to grow up in.
Mid 90s were great. Late 90s is when it started to go downhill. Too much depressing mainstream shite was in the charts at the time.
@Jamie200: I still have the album "I should Coco", I was 19 [ same age as Gaz is here ] going on 20 when this came out.
Youth was freer and way more chilled out than nowadays ...
AGREED!
even better to be the actual 90´s generation
This song encapsulates the mid 90’s for me so much! I wasn’t a huge fan of the band or the song at the time, although I did quite like it. However it seems to transport me right back there the second I hear it!! Far more so than any bands or music I was actively listening to myself then.. Great song and what a great time to be alive!.. I don’t half miss that era!
Even at my lowest, it’s still impossible to just not feel alright while listening to this song
Loved the 90s. More laid back times and happier than the 21st century.
I dunno about happier. There's happy moments in every decade. But certainly less crazy and anxiety inducing. Lol
Heh heh boomer
Boomer? Actually I think a _lot_ of people who remember the '90s might agree that not only were _they_ quite likely happier then, but also that in many crucial ways _life_ was better then. Heck, comparing the way internet & computing devices worked back then as opposed to today can be a lot like comparing a coral reef then & now: While there was once a vibrant landscape where new organisms could flourish, there are now inhospitable conditions amid ever-increasing quantities of toxic crap. From a legislative, financial, ecological, geopolitical, _or_ sociological standpoint, I think in most significant respects we are much worse off now than then. It's not even like the '90s were that great, it's more like since then we've turned the _Suck_ level up past eleven & snapped off the knob.
Should have tried the ‘80’s

It's good but, hardly the greatest. Bohemian Raphsody has just about everything beat...
@@TheRisskee Unpopular opinion: Bohemian Rhapsody isn't even that good of a song.
It's catchy sure but the song itself is terrible.
@@elias_xp95 I respect your opinion, of course. I just have to say, the history that Freddie put into the song itself is what makes it amazing. I'm a history buff so I get that part but most people only sing the lyrics and don't think about where they came from. A Renaissance era Italian play is right in the middle of it, mixed with the modern feelings of a man who thinks he's killed himself off and he needs to apologize to his parents for it because whilst he has killed the son they think they had, he still is happy to be free to be who he is. The music theory is masterful in itself with insane octave changes, riff changes, lyrical abutments that shouldn't work but actually do. Bohemian Raphsody shouldn't exist, but it does. I was raised listening to Queen so I'm not part of the new wave of kids that freaked out over the song because they made a movie with it as it's title. My opinion is that it's more than just catchy if you examine it deeper.

Tomatoo Um no... British was right
If you mean the coarse side of some 'hooligan chav' Brits, aye, yer right. Just check out the rest of our population, though: we may not all be James Bonds and Roger Moores, but we're still a decent celtic-saxon-scandinavian mix of pale skin day-to-day working men, who tend not to show their frail side easily and simply hide it behind thousands of cups of teas and evenings out at the local pub... we're such a melancholic lot, lad... and our climate doesn't help, but we still keep some dignity up. The chavs are... chavs, they always were, they'll always be, but they're not any majority here. I mean, we all love football but not all of us gather in stadiums to pick up some fight or have a pee on the stands........................... let Britain never look this way.
By the way, I'm a Scotsman and... well, come on Rangers! ;-)
