Great story. Apollo 12 was my favorite Apollo mission. Rest in peace, Pete. Rest in peace, Al. Cheers from America.

The Apollo people were truly great Americans, the best of the best. That's no joke, either.

My dad knew Pete Conrad and I got to meet him post A-12. Dad enjoyed waxing about flying with him back in the day, Pete a student and dad a young engineer at Princeton. Both NAVY. Sad that we have lost so many, Conrad, Bean, and so many others as time marches by.

Apollo 12 is one of my favorite missions from that program. Just the concept of 3 best friends taking a trip to the moon is just so endearing it brings a smile to my face.

Just one comment for Brad Miller and anyone else who thinks the Moon landing was fake, obviously none of them ever saw Saturn left off live from Cape Canaveral (KSC). Just watching that thing launch, the size of it and the earth shaking power, there is no way they couldn’t have made it to the moon with that much technology. Visit KSC and take a look at the Saturn that is on display, long as a football field, maybe a up and personal visit may change your mind.

SEC to AUX.... No bad for an artist. as we forget, in our understandable urge to treat STEM as a panacea, we would do well to remember that it is called ARTS and Sciences for a reason. Who will tell the robots what to do? You know, the robots who will be doing the jobs for which STEM is currently training our children or grandchildren? Who will tell the robots what to do? My point is, there is no hitching post in the universe. There is no one solution, especially over time. Ignoring the arts is something we do at our peril. Social media has proven that digital illiteracy can lead us to jump off a cliff like lemmings. (see social media). If DARPA had any brains they would be paying American artists a guaranteed livable income with no strings attached. Why? If you don't, then the I Robot / SKYNET scenario will be inevitable. If DARPA doesn't realize that fact, then their futurists are failing epically. Alan Bean has always been a tremendous comfort in that regard.
