  • I had to convert a pair of GS1000 to take a detachable cable as the original cable was starting to degrade. This video shows the process I used and it worked very well.
    Over all, it was probably a 3 out of 5 on the difficulty scale. with a bit of patience and the right tools, most people could probably do this but it would take a few hours to do

    Those aftermarket metal gimbals look like one I got from shipibo audio for around 100usd... Great video! I am going to do detachable cable mod myself on my Grado SR60. I love everything about Grado but those god-awful cables!

      ;) yes - the cables do let them down a bit

      100$ for the gimbals?!

      The gimbals are indeed from shipibo.audio Grado insist on using plastic rodblocks even on $3000 headphones. They do have their own metal gimbals, not as nicely done as these are (made from aluminum tube, rather than machined).

    "Grado or Grado if you are that way inclined", was that aimed at me? :-)

      LOL.... Yes, thought I had better try to get both pronunciations in there just in case

      I think you did a good job with this one and as you say not too difficult to do either. I reckon the owner will be pleased with it.

    Never warming up a Grado headophone as this will ruin the driver. It changes the diaphragm elasticity properties resulting a different sound signature.

      Yes, you need to keep an eye on the temperatures

    quick question, why did you need to tap the positive side with your knive?

    • @CustomCans
      @CustomCans  Před 3 lety +1

      I was just marking the driver so I would remember which side was positive when I attached the new wires
