oh my goodness this is wonderful. Thank you so much.
I have a few young friends that are wine aficionados lol
and I needed nice cloth wine totes for gift bags.
There were so many out there, and they just didn’t look right and I didn’t know what to do,
You just solved a massive problem. Not only are they beautiful. They are very very simple to make.
And because I have a bout 10 to make, I am in my glory, grinning and very happily rushing to my sewing machine as we speak
again, thank you so very much for this lovely tutorial
      Have a beautiful holiday.🍷🇨🇦

Hi Jean! Many years ago for my (what was then) little sewing group I made bags for them for Christmas. Somewhere I got the idea to use men's button up long-sleeved shirts. I made a trip to Goodwill & got lots one day when they were on sale :) I cut the arms off about 13" up from the cuff, boxed it off where I cut it. Used the button up part as the "handles". Didn't know or think to line it. Gave them each an empty wine bottle with the 20-count lights you can get in either the craft sections at Hobby Lobby or at Christmas time. I use them for night lights in the kitchen or wherever you want them! All that being said, I LOVE your way sooo much better. The ease of it, the fact that it's lined with no raw edges showing. I will so be making these as gifties!!

Have made a few of these. I’ve drafted a smaller size template and used scrap fabric to make smaller size bag for presenting a box of perfume / aftershave. Also made a template that accommodates preserves /pickling jar when being given as a gift. Thanks again for the tutorial. By adapting the template you can create versatile carriers for a lot of different occasions / purposes

You have the easiest technique I have seen for one of these and I don’t even drink. I sell alcohol and usually when I give someone a gift, it’s a bottle of wine. I always purchase the paper gift bags. These can be more personalized. I can embroider or monogram their name on it. Although I am quite capable of making a round bottom, your way is much simpler. The only change I would make is to use fusible fleece and cut it 1/4” smaller for extra padding, thank you so much for sharing your idea.

Good morning Jean. I love my morning visits to your woods/garden. I love the birds singing. Not so much a fan of a snake. lol
I was in the middle of watching this when hubby came up with a beautiful polka dot box full of some beautiful fabric. The kindness you have shown brought tears of joy. Of course, the box will be used on a shelf in the craft room for storing something. When I use these fabrics I will think of your love and kindness. It will take me years and a long path to get my stash anywhere near like it was. However, I will always remember the one (YOU) who put the first pieces of fabric back on my empty shelves. Words could express my gratitude enough. Thank you from the deepest part of my heart. We live on the opposite sides of PA and with the COVID I'm not able to give you a real hug so I'm sending you one HUGE VIRTUAL HUG! Love the wine bottle holder. This will be a hit for the holidays. For the larger bag you could carry soda for those who don’t drink alcohol.

Can someone tell me the measurements for the large wine bag? Thank you !

Let me check! The body of the bag is 8 inches to the base. The bottom measures (boxed) 4" x 3" and the overall height of the bag from base to top of handle is 14" exactly.

Hi Jean, this is the best pattern to use! You should sell it! I am so bummed that I missed you at the Oaks quilt show. I was working with one of the vendors, so I was there the whole time. Any chance you are going to the one in VA, February?
