  • In this DIY video we are installing an upgraded downpipe on a 2019 MK7.5 Golf R. This downpipe upgrade is part of a full stage 2 build including a charge cooler, turbo inlet pipe, and Stage 2 software. Installing an upgraded downpipe on a turbocharged car will allow better flowing exhaust gas, and change the sound of the exhaust. This high performance downpipe also includes a high flow catalytic converter and is a vital part of the stage 2 MK7.5 Golf R build. Stay tuned for the rest of the stage 2 Golf R build! #humblemechanic #golfR

I had to stack some washers and use a longer bolt where the downpipe bracket bolts to that bracket/red rubber hanger. Mine was so far off. I removed and adjusted just to check but with the pipe on the turbo and bolted to the block it was still way off. It was really the only part of the install that I struggled with. Seemed like the two pins that go into the rubber hanger boots wanted to pop out otherwise.

Since I didn’t dyno the car I can’t say about actually gains. But from a feel standpoint I don’t think we gained much of anything

I have a 71 type 2 van you can work on for your show if you want. Obviously I would pay you.
    Keep up the great videos!

Awesome video. I liked how you did the step by step removal. Pretty cool! So the next step is software tune? I'd like to see detailed step on when you do the stage 2 software. Like the other commentor said on bigger turbo. That's good idea also. Overall, great video stage 2 series!

Thank you. I took a little different approach on filming this one. Still a big video but fun

can’t wait for the coming vids on this... your channel is way underrated. maybe try an external mic for the gopro on the interior?

    Love your R!
I hope we are able to get some better aftermarket fueling. I would love to tune mine on E85 (if I get one) with the proper supporting modifications.

Think with all the trouble you are going too with this car & subs you already have, I would contact Armytrix & see if they will send you a custom ti exhaust.
Definitely big turbo go's without question stage 2 is a lot of money for very little gain.
