    Another great video!
So I take it the hammer texturing didn't do what you wanted and thats why you used the flat burr? Also, what does the oil at the end do? Prevents oxidation? Does it need to be reapplied periodically? Thanks. Always a pleasure to see your work.

    • @SilverMeister
      @SilverMeister  Před 3 lety +1

      Texturing is for two reasons.
      The one is,
If you twist the pattern, the pattern is broken, which is a supplement.
      Another one,
The rest of the valley just tried to be normal,
It looked too normal at the end, so I worked on additional patterns.
      Thanks~

I have a few question if you don’t mind?
Why do you pickle the metal each time you anneal it, wouldn’t it be easier to just do it at the end?
Why is the wooden board you cut on black?
Did you learn this on your own, or did you apprentice with someone?
Do you ever worry about all those scraps and thieves?
On average, how much metal do you think you lose through processing each year?
    Thank you!

    • @SilverMeister
      @SilverMeister  Před 3 lety

      1) The reason for pickling every time annealing is,
This is to keep the silver material clean during work.
That's because you can feel the best of your current state and work more precisely at the same time.
      2) Black wood is ebony.
It is a very hard top quality wood.
Because I mainly deal with silver, a white metal,
Black wooden boards that are easily visible are used as a base.
      3) Basic things I studied with a master's degree in university,
In total, I have been applying these tasks for 29 years.
      4) No worries about scrams and thieves.
That no matter how much you tell, you can't do it.
      Because I know well.
      Not everyone can easily follow.
      5) I don't know what it means to lose metal....
Almost 95% of silver powder can be recovered.
Once refined, most of it can be recycled.
I did my best to answer.
I do not speak English well.
Everyone is helped by the translator.
It is difficult for me to answer in this detail.
We will politely decline to answer any further questions.
      sorry !!

@@SilverMeister is it acid dip ?

    • @SilverMeister
      @SilverMeister  Před 2 lety +1

      This is dilute sulfuric acid.
It is clear like water at first, and turns blue as you use it.
Nonferrous metals (gold, silver, copper, aluminum, etc.) are
      different from general ferrous metals,
In each process, it must be pickled.
It is an acid (sulfuric acid).
It is a mixture of 10% sulfuric acid stock solution + 90% water.
When mixing acid and water, you must add acid to the water.
If you add water to an acid,
it is dangerous because it may react as if it explodes at the initial moment of addition.
Do not boil dilute sulfuric acid, but always keep it warm (about 50 to 70 degrees),
Soak your work in it and pickle it.
      It dissolves and removes impurities,
fire scale and borax residues generated during work.
It is a clear color at first, but the more you use it,
the more it turns into a light green (pocari sweat) color.
      After using for a while,
a small amount of waste acid is mixed with a lot of water and diluted.
      When the quantity is large,
it is sometimes discarded by requesting a specialized collection company.
