I have a theory about this--these little animals can't really understand that the toes are part of us because they are so distant from the parts of our body that they tend to associate with "us"--hands, voice, face, arms. Then waaaaaaayyyyy over there are these little wiggling live things that need to be attacked! Sock monsters.

When I had a ferret, my dog and ferret’s game was wack a mole. The ferret would pop it’s head out the couch somewhere and the dog would try to bop it. It was so adorable.

My Caucasian Ovcharka catches rabbits the same way. She catches them gently and tries to play with them. My Scottish Terrier just kills them.

All puns aside...(the panic one was particularily terrible XD) that's because Ferret in spanish has no meaning. In spanish a ferret is called "hurón". Which obviously has absolutely no similarity with "ferretería"
Ferretería comes from the latin word "Ferrum", meaning Iron. Etymologically Ferretería is, literally "iron shop". Nothing to do with "hurones", obviously ;).
Well.... The ferret has a set of good chumpers too, and they know how to draw blood in defense as well... The dog may start the rough play, but the ferret will finish it on it lip with a mark to remember...
