Claydon Crossing in the 1970s & 80s

  • Situated to the south of Leamington Spa and north of Banbury is Claydon Crossing. Now little more than a foot crossing, the original gated crossing was controlled from the signalbox which closed in the mid-eighties. Pictured here are various shots taken during the 1970s and 1980s at this once rural but busy location. Please note that this footage is taken directly from 8mm cine film and therefore has no sound.

    Great video. The 25 at the end sent to rescue the failed 47 is struggling with the load.

    Looks very different there now. Great film again. This is affectionately known as ‘Big T.ts’ crossing after the lady that always used to wave there 😂
