- A sentimental look at the Bombay of yore, with diesel spewing buses, crows on the roads, and a simpler, older city with fewer vehicles.
A sharp viewer tells us that this is from 1988. At 0:19 there is a movie poster behind the bus, for 'Hawas Ka Shikari' which was released in 1988.
Old archival footage of a horde of people crossing the then not so congested streets of Bombay now known as Mumbai. Traffic and crowd are synonymous to Mumbai as can be seen in the clip. Do not miss the red double-decker bus and the black-yellow fiat taxis which can still be seen running on the roads of Mumbai.
With heritage Victorian architecture in abundance, one can see how the high-res buildings have taken over. From Marine Drive, the city with its buildings give a feeling of Manhattan's sealine.
Bombay had Double decker buses in the 1980's!
Workers rush out of a building on office getting over in 1980's Mumbai (OK, Bombay then!). Yellow and black Fiat or Premier Padmini taxis as well as double decker buses were standard and common, at Victoria Terminus and around the city!

When I look into these old videos, sometimes I wish I could go into the video and bring my father back alive :-) He was in Mumbai at that time. A young person working hard for his career. During the time this video was shot (1980s), he must be somewhere in Mumbai, playing with his little kid, thats me! If only I could go back in time.
No mobile those days, no selfie culture, I find this video's very peaceful. Everyone minding ther own business.
The person who shot this video knew that someone in 2020 will be watching this video and admiring the footage and make everyone miss old memories ❤️
👌My first visit to Bombay was during summer of 85. As a school boy I amazed to see large and big buildings, because I am from small town of Jharkhand ie Ranchi.
I'm living in Mumbai from 1982. Mumbai was more clean and peaceful at that time than today.
Old hindi movies failed to catch these beautifull surroundings. Only focus on built sets.

Nostalgic.. Mumbai was so developed in the 70's too
That Marine drive looks very much like Ocean drive of Miami city. Vice City players know this nostalgic feeling

My Grandmother used to tell us ,at that time Parents used to approve Grooms proposal if he was residing in Bombay. That time living in Bombay was something great. 😂😂
I was born in 1980 in suburbs. This video brings back so many memories of my childhood.
