- How to connect the and use the Canon Vixia Wifi remote feature on your mobile device. In this video I show every step I used to download the Camera Access App on my iPad, turn on the wifi on the camcorder, and connect your cell phone or tablet to it. I also show you how well it works, zooming in and out, start-stop, and save to your mobile devices and your camcorder simultaneously. I hope you find it helpful.

Hey Mimi, I found your video useful and learned something from Canon that is worth sharing with others: My Vixia's sharing function needed to access wifi within my home was grayed out (could not click "Okay"). The Canon tech had me reset all the settings on my camera, from the date and time and choice of language on up. That made the difference!

hi dear can you help me? i have the vizia hr f78 and when i choose the remote control i can click nothing... maybe is for the sd card?
I have tried 3 different apps, used 2 phones. My camera says I am connected when my phone connects to the cameras network. But no app finds the camera. I do not know what is going on. I even did a full reset of the camera.
Do you know if I can use the R40 or R42 to stream to Google hangouts or Wirecast?
i dont like the way canon made this app very laggy and its slow and you can here sound back ! good job thoe !!! keep it up !!!
Same here. Changing the buffer doesn't seem to improve anything. I mute my iPad, to stop the audio feedback. I'm holding out hope that Canon will make a better app, because I like everything else about my Vixia. Thanks!
Great job explaining, but I have a Canon Vixia hf r60 connecting to a Android Razr (yea, I know,old phone). Can't get it to connect... Any advice? Thanks.
i wonder if the app manufacturer, not being the same as the camera, collects any data on usage or see's the video your streaming/recording? wonder if it connects strait to the phone/tablet or through the internet?

WeaponsOnTheWeb You're welcome. I think I read that Canon recently updated the software or app for this camera. I need to check it out and report back. I hope the buffering issue is resolved.

Can I have this record to my PC's hard drive remotely?
I tried doing this and it says its connected but it won't connect with the app :(
I have the same camera and the 'Remote Control & Streaming feature is there, but it won't highlight for me to turn it on. For some reason that function is off and can't be enabled. When I press it, it does nothing.
+seekingjustthefacts You may have solved it by now but for the benefit of anyone else with the problem.....it won't work when: video quality is 60p, framerate is 24P for MP4 movie or when dual or relay recording is activated. I switched from 60p to MXP (AVCHD) and the 'remote control & streaming' became available.

Hi, I hope you can help me.... I got my camera last year just around the time you did this video... I haven't used it in the since then. I was able to use this app back then but now, I can't. I followed your directions, but in the very first step, I'm getting a grayed out screen on the camera where it says Remote Control Setting. You can push that button all night long and nothing happens, I'm getting seriously frustrated. If you could help I'd appreciate it.
+thejunkjunque I haven't used the app in a really long time. I'll have to re-aquaint myself with it, but I suspect you have made a successful connection between the camera and your device in "settings" on your mobile devices wi-fi settings. I think Canon has come out with a new app, so maybe the old app I describe here is obsolete? I will check into it.
