Ah yeah, great description of him. Nicely said. He does have that golden retriever gene where everything is great.

Jamie accidentally starting a crossbar shot contest with danny made me crack tf up so much. Loved this scene
Dani is the only character in the show with more contagious optimism than Lasso himself
but even he was SO ANGRY during that most recent game vs. West Ham!
@@StefveoXuman beings (in this case, the characters of the show) can have a wide range of emotions and that’s why this show just works: they portrait the persons as they are, just persons, not trophy characters.
Remember, Danny wants to sell joy for free.
@@prettyawesomejm I love this comment.
Except when Zava left. And when he played for Mexico (vs Van Damme).
It’s hard not to love Dani Rojas immediately and every scene
What I love about this scene, and their friendship/rivalry in general, is that Dani exemplifies everything Jamie wants to *get* out of the sport. For Dani, "Football is Life" is something he says out of having an immense love *and* enjoyment of the game--it doesn't matter if he's any good at it, even though he is, because being *good* or *the best* at football isn't what's important to Dani. He loves the game because it's fun. Simple as that. It's why he's always so complimentary to Jamie and why, in this scene, he's treating the entire thing as a game even though Jamie is being an obvious prick to him.
Jamie, on the other hand, loves the game because of what it *gets* or *gives* him. (Just like he loves people). He loves the fame, the money, the girls, the power, how it lets him be a prick to everyone and anyone without repercussions, etc. (Because, if we go by how his dad treats him as an adult, that kind of autonomy/power was never given to Jamie as a child.) For him, the phrase wouldn't be "Football is Life", but more "Football is *MY* life" because Jamie literally starts the show as someone incapable of seeing their own worth as someone who can exist and be loved *outside* of being a footballer.
(That's why his stint as a reality tv star fails. Because he's got nothing more than cocky footballer persona to fall back on, and he doesn't know "how to be real.")
In Jamie's head, being good at football is all he has and all he needs. There's no room for love of the sport, in his version of what he thinks a professional footballer should be/what football is about, because he doesn't see football as something to love. He sees it as something that both enables and allows him to get away with his worst behaviors, while *also* giving him all the attention he thinks he deserves/so desperately wants as a survivor of abuse.
But, just like in life, your relationship with the game is always going to depend on *your mindset about it*. (Which is why this is one of the very, very few times we see Jamie look like he's about to have FUN, like he looks and sounds as if he's just warming up to enjoy himself...right up until he misses his last shot and you just see all the energy deflate out of him. Because to Dani, this was just a fun game; but, to Jamie? It's all he thinks he's good for.)
What a great series.
Ian is this you?
none of this means anything. ted lasso is exactly the kind of show that would attract this kind of absolute drivel analysis

What’s funny is I got so into it I was disappointed when Jamie missed his shot. All the other ones were so satisfying, I actually let out an audible sigh. And this is after having seen this show before.
Dani Rojas is such an amazing character and the actor they got (I have given up on trying to spell his name, spell check practically having a stroke) is perfect... He has that big bold smile and can give the mannerisms of pure joy.
Jamie eventually became my favorite character, but this... this is Ego and Hurt vs Humble and Light. I have a feeling that Dani has benefitted from a more loving and stable family support system. Love this show. 💙
God, this show means so much to me.
This was such a great scene. Jamie thought he was the best, until he met someone who could compete with him. And then, he missed first, because even the best still need to practice. If one skipped practice is what it takes for other players to catch up with him, that is _terrifying_ for Jamie.
He sure af won't miss practice again.
My favorite scene of the entire series so far.
Me too my friend, me too :) It's beautiful.
I still chuckle when he sings the song…
Dani Rojas! Rojas! Dani Rojas!
Remember when they hyped up Dani Rojas to be as good as and maybe even better than Jaimie? And then forgot all about that in season 3?
Dani is still good, but the character of Jamie has a totally different planning along the series. Remember that it's just fiction but I feel Dani is settled as a Sergio Ramos/Agüero level of mvp while Jamie was settled to be/become a sort of Ibrahimovic/Messi level of mvp (I mean in terms of assists vs goals vs dribbling)

Music (I think) is a remix of the Mighty Rio Grande from This Will Destroy You.
Tartt wasn‘t wearing any professional gear in that scene.
*"Fucks sake..."*
Can someone please tell me the music in this scene? I can't find it anywhere on any of the "what song" websites for Season 1 Episode 6 (this episode), and it's really frustrating me. I'm desperate to find the music for this scene, as I love it so much and it really resonated with me. Thank you to anyone in advance, I'd greatly appreciate it.

have to admit, Jamie not using cleat shoes, so he is probably better than Dani in here
Thought Crossbar challenge died years ago
It’s a crossbar challenge not a shooting one
No, thats not a thing. Impossible 1 in a billion odds of that ever happening.
I don't play soccer. How difficult is this ?
Hitting the posts accurately from beyond the box????
It’s like making a basketball shot from multiple feet beyond the 3 point line….
Can the average athlete accomplish it with multiple tries? Sure. But it would usually take a professional to hit it with such consistency as this.
You play Basketball? t's like the half court shot
Quarterback football? like throwing into a swining tire at 40 yards.
It's pretty hard. Doing it a certain number of times in a row would be harder-est.
I once made 4 half court buckets in a row.....
Thank you guys for the input! I understand now. Dang that's impressive
@@SuperChuckRaney harder-est?
@Paweł Kęcerski yeah harderest, if you can do it multiple times you're probably the besterest at it🤣😉

There body language says it all when their kicking the “soccer ball” so hard to watch
No such thing as soccer ball. Thats a football ball, because its a ball that you kick with your foot.
Not as hard as watching your lot kick the hand egg
@@Hespi. I kick a lot of balls with my foot, are they all footballs
@@cryopex9976 Nope, probably not. Only if you use it while you play football.
But... Jamie won, Danny didn't hit the left post. Surely he would have to hit the same post as Jamie, or the "contest" would be invalid the moment Jamie didn't hit the top bar.
It was a bunch of cut scenes in a montage. What was probably edited out was Dani calling the right-side bar. For your claim to be correct, he would have had to screw up so badly that he accidentally hit the side post on the opposite side of the goal, and that obviously didn't happen either.
@@k8636
Hey man, cool lets go through it together;
1)
I don't really care what might or might not have been edited out. That is pure guesswork.
We simply can't use perhaps' and maybe's, not if we want to have a definitive answer to a video that is cut together to show us a scene in its entirety. We have 75 sec of video to go through, that is all.
2)
In the video what we see (again that is all we can use), is that they play S.H.I.T. (or whatever people call it where you live), you hit a bar, do a trick whatever and the next player has to repeat it.
In football practice (in clubs) where you hit the top bar the goal is to repeatedly do it, or call a side bar, which was done. And the other player(s) has to do the same thing.
What was shown was that "left post" was called, yet Dani hit the right post.
That is why he lost.
3)
He did miss that badly, based on the video and the obviously goofy comment I made 4 months ago. Left post was called, it was hit, and when Dani's turn came up he hit the right post (see second 51).
And just to be clear, you call it from your perspective. Jamie called the left post, and hit it from his perspective. (seen in second 44) And when Dani's shot is shown, you see it from a zoomed in angle, but the way the corner flag is shown makes it clear that it is the right post.
Finishing thoughts;
I base it only on what is shown, that is all. If Jamie as a character was entitled and egocentric then it would only have made sense for him to claim the contest invalid. That would have been in character.
And it would have allowed Dani to not care, showing that only Jamie wanted to compete, Dani just wanted to have fun. It is the small things that shows us more details regarding the characters, and it is what we see that makes us engaged.
I like writing, even if I am not that great at it. And as such I notice moments like this.
Now, I don't know a lot about sport but I think you're supposed to put the ball into the net?
They were aiming for the crossbar. Being able to do it on command like they were requires a good deal of skill.

That should have ended early. Jamie calls the shot and hits the left post, Danny takes the shot, not only misses the left post, but misses the goal and barely hits the right post.
