Nice work, I love a bit of high revving N/A LS1 goodness as I've got my manual VX SS that makes 350rwkw at 7500rpms back on the road after a few years of being a caged circuit sprint race only setup... so much fun being able to cruise it around the streets again... :)
gotta love a good V8 like this.. will always be good fun

I can tell by the way it's revving it's got a hi stall too, makes sense why it's only 350rwhp it's the 3 speed and stally dragging the power, however take it to the drags and with the hi stall and drag radials with that power a low 12 second to high 11 sec pass is possible.
i was taking it pretty easy too as i'm sure you're aware lol

Best mods to do with the LS1 in my opinion are the cam, lifters, double row timing chain, port the heads, exhaust, extractors, OTR and oil pump. For about $6-7k you can get some amazing power out of them
ya umm but when you actually know what your doing instead of the no brainer backyarder experts who do the typical cheap street machine bible obviousness realise $50k is usually the could be alot dearer, cheap option that sounds more believable you are atleast taken a bit more seriously🤫 Street machine experts still don't know what the running gear actually is, Not what the majority like to think it is err kinda embarrassing it's pretty funny lol.

Used to work at a servo in Glen Waverley and there was a young fella into Commodores named Coumva who would pop in for tyre swaps and the like ,nice fella im tippin he built the motor ,well done mate you made that ls1 scream

im on my L plates but in the future when i get my full licence i would love an ss, but i am wondering if a high ram intake is illegal in victoria because it sticks out the hood and i cannot find a straight answer online. i would really like to get a car asap and mod the hell out of it but realistically i would like a clean licence and im currently saving money over time so hopefully by the time im 21 i can get my dream ss vt commodore and have money do do what id like. also if i had hi ratio rocker and a more aggressive cam, new gearbox (dont know much about gearboxes yet) but i would like to know if any of that is illegal on my full license also. thx

I'm not really a fan of the gearbox as it holds the revs for way too long (it's a 3 speed afterall) but each to their own...

It holds the revs because of my diff gears, I have 3.08s so takes longer to get through the gears, where if I had 3.9s or similar it would be quicker but then it would rev more on the freeway. I just wanted to keep the rpm down

Would be sweet but unless swapped they're pretty rare in a 2nd gen 🤔 Only available in a VS series II Calais and Statesman/Caprice I think.
I'm working on getting mine registered again after sitting for years. Did a swap around 8yrs ago from a VT into my VR ute. Paired with a T5 manual, 11psi pulley, 4.11 diff gears, a mini spooled diff and running on coilovers its alot of fun. Would be similar to Ross's AU drift car he recently reviewed but abit more drifty with more torque down low and lighter in the rear being a ute 🤙
Same here mate got one in my vs Ute with a built auto and a 2500 stall 11psi pulley but only runs at 9psi bc fill exhaust 3.7 lsd diff great fun in the second gens a lot lighter then in the vt

I wish I could review my car a Ford falcon bf mk 3 wagon but unfortunately I can't because I'm a CFMEU official and my car is funded and owned by the CFMEU as a private work car and on the insurance it says I'm the only registered operated driver and only a registered CFMEU official can only drive it thats me and no one else can drive it sorry Ross anyways have a happy new year
Beautiful car and great review. I can never understand why people go to a turbo 400 3 speed to a driven street car. Anything over 80kph or trying to sit on a free way and the motor is reving its box off. The converter sound like it has a stall way to big for it and slips all the way up the range. But great review regardless.
Depends on the rear diff ratio my hz v8 turob 400 2.78 diff cruises nicely at highway speeds
That’s why I have 3.08 diff gears in it to keep the revs down when on freeway and I didn’t want to put a 4l60 in the car when going auto.
The stall converter is 4500 which is perfect for the cam that I have!

Sounds like the stall converter doesn't lock up. When you boot it with the Draggy on, the revs wouldn't go over 5000rpm. Had a combo that did this. A better converter made a huge difference to top end power.
I own this car, the revs do go over 5000rpm, he was just shifting early

@@Nicwatt you won't get much money for this car it's only worth $1,000 doesn't mater if you put 15k into it you won't make your money back and iv looked at the clock on the video 260000 is a lot of kilometres that's a taxi. a taxi has this many ks on there clock you won't get a lot of money for it with the high ks good luck with it

Funny to put a th400 in a car with 270rwkw. 4l60es definitely can be built to handle that by most transmission builders unless they like you take your money by recommending th400 conversions....

Keep a bottle of engine oil handy for top ups after every drive.
The LS1's certainly do have a reputation for drinking oil eh? I remember when the VTII first came out with the LS1 and people were claiming new engines under warranty because of shoddy Mexican build quality (piston slap causing excessive oil consumption if I remember correctly)
They have converted the petrol tank into an oil tank. 😆
My F6 is the same now 🥲 leaks tho not drink

Because I didn’t want to put a 4l60 in it, can have whatever gearbox you want with whatever power you have. Plus these boxs kill power so it’ll make more then what it does
@@Nicwatt sorry for the late reply mate. Wasn’t trying to sound rude, was a genuine opinion. Glad to hear your response though as I personally have absolutely no clue when it comes to autos as I personally only drive manual cars. Tough calais though man, like I said I love the sound of it!
