Well it is wonderful, isn't it? But I would suggest Eric Korngold's violin concerto mvt. 2 with Pearlman playing might be better? Beethoven was a genius and the musical world could not have achieved what it did without him. However, listen to Korngold and tell me he was not also a genius. This is the absolute essence of my soul and for the ones who believe I can even imagine that came from a different life time of mine because it touches me so much in ways that I can't use words for you to understand. That's the music I wish was playing my entire life, that's the music I wish someone was playing while I was born, I wish was playing in the birth of my sons and even when on the last minutes of my cerebral activity, just after I died, I wish it was the one soundtrack for all my life to pass me by my eyes

I agree. It just burns through the soul completely and cannot be beaten, although I really like Prokofiev Concerto 2 mov 1 when it almost reaches the end of the first movement and the cadenza kicks in. It's brilliant and so strong. The section your referring to is the most beautiful, and could possibly be the greatest 30 seconds in music history. Although other 30 seconds of music, such as variation 18 of Rachmaninoff/Paganini rhapsody on a theme hits me harder with emotion than this and variation 11 of liszt/paganini etude 6 is beyond the definition of epic, this just is simply the best.

Think about this, you knew from the very first time, your very first listen that this was special and almost indescribable. You want every single person on the earth to just sit in a comfortable chair with their eyes closed and wearing a great set of headphones and just listen. I feel like I'm one of the lucky ones who can appreciate this and wish every single living soul could hear it at least once.

The difference between Beethoven and Mozart is that while Mozart helped you hear the complexities of music, Beethoven helped you FEEL them. Beethoven was able to construct melody upon melody and build themes unlike Mozart was able to. Mozart had some of the most developed and ingenious pieces ever put to writing, however Beethoven’s thematic prowess is unmatched. In my humble opinion, Ludwig van Beethoven was and always will be the single greatest musical mind that ever walked the Earth.

Beethoven followed a more classic strucure in some concertos but knew perfectly how to bring back the same melody in different forms. I cannot say who is a better compositer but you cannot say that Mozart was far less talented than Beethoven. He created the perfect balance between the piano solo and the orchestra in a piano concerto which was causing trouble to compositers before him. Both are genius and both are to be respected.

There is so much depth, infinite love, and beauty in this piece, words really cannot describe it. It's like the moment when unconditional love meets unconditional love in the most perfect way, when you realize that this person you are holding is the only thing that has ever mattered, and now at the point of realizing this profundity you must say goodbye...and you have one last dance, a fragment in time that will remain eternal in the two beloved hearts forever...that sacred moment glows brilliant white light. +Christopher Sharp Haha, actually... Beethoven wrote the Emperor concerto while being attacked by Napolean's army. He had to hide in a basement and composed this masterpiece under such scary circumstances, which is really remarkable when you think about it. His hearing was deteriorating and those canons weren't doing him any favours, so he was frightened that he would be completely deaf at the end of the siege. Something remarkable also happened to Beethoven that he obviously had in mind while composing the second movement... true love, yay! His 'Immortal Beloved' showed up in his life around this time, and you can hear the love in this music from it. :) Sooo Romanitc!!!
