  • In this latest video in the Anycubic Mega X How to Series, we dive into replacing the stock extruder on the machine with a Bondtech BMG Extruder! This extruder directly lines up where the old one gets installed so it's a super easy installation, plus it is dual geared rather than single geared, so filament should push through much easier. It is a great quality of life upgrade that will keep you Mega X up and running for even longer!

      Would love to see if you have ever managed to get a print to continue after filament runs out. Ive tried twice and it never works.

      Yes, please talk more about the bed. I had to replace my print bed after 1 month of light use because it was warped, wouldn't level and wouldn't print. Anycubic did send me a new one, however after a few more months, the new bed is now warped too. Is there an easier way to mitigate this bed warping issue than calling Anycubic every few months for a new bed? I've only been printing for a little over 2 years but my Qidi has been running non stop for over 2 years and I've never had this issue with the Qidi. Thanks!

      What kind of smallest nuzzle do you recommend for this printer, and my bed is not stable it has playing in the wheels below not sure is it should be like it or no on this printer.

    I bought a Mega X about a month ago and I love this thing! It performs way better than my Ender 5 Pro and Competes with my Sovol 6 plus neck and neck. I watched one of your videos about settings and it opened my eyes because of the way you explained the settings and encouraged me to do more challenging prints. Thanks for all your videos and I am happy whenever I see you have a fresh video out.

    • @Grant849
      @Grant849 Před 8 měsíci

      @@KealTR I haven't done any upgrades, but I usually run it at like 35-45 depending on if I want small details printed better

    You are awesome! I just followed your instructions and it works perfectly! The only thing I had to do different was go to the next highest setting for my baud rate as the default setting of 115200 kept saying "rubbish"... Once that was done, I input M92 E415 enter, then M500 enter... and flash forward a bit aaaaaaaaand it extrudes perfectly! Thank you so much for providing us with your valuable insight!!!

    I might look into this, lately I have some issues with the extruder were I hear a Click sound, and then the Filament no longers goes through the gear unless I fiddle the spring-hold lever, or push in the filament. Seeing this I'll try cleaning the gear a bit first then replace :)
    thanks!

    I got a dual drive extruder off Amazon.. looks exactly the same in all aspects but the directions, and logo on the side of the unit, say to install it upside down in comparison to this bondtech model.. it definitely wouldn't have fit given the adjustment screw would hit the gantry. So weird thankfully I followed this video instead of the instructions sent with the unit.

    Great video! I have done the same upgrade however my computer will connect through pronterface. I get the following message. Could not connect to COM3 at baudrate 115200:
    Serial error: could not open port 'COM3': PermissionError(13, 'Access is denied.', None, 5) Can you help please?

    If you had to do this over again would you have stuck with the BMG Extruder or Bondtech's LGX B which I think may be a bit newer?

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  Před rokem +1

      For its purpose I think I would’ve stuck with the one I installed. Not to say the other is a bad option. It hasn’t given me any issues. Now if you ever wanted to convert your machine to a direct drive eventually, the lgx b may be a better option.

  • @scottyknows1566

    250000 Baud rate for Pronterface if any bodies stuck on that also.

  • @Darth5idious

    I am trying to connect my mega x to Pronterface and the baud rate is giving me problems. Have you had any issues with this

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  Před 2 měsíci

      I haven’t had too many issues with that but it can be finicky at times in my experience. Try a different baud rate value if you haven’t already and see if that helps. If that doesn’t work, maybe try a different cable to connect to the printer.

    Very good Video. Thank you very much. Im planning to upgrade my extruder too. But i would like to try a BondTech Clone. Was the upgrade worth it? I mean is it a big improvement compared to the original extruder?
    Thank you very much.

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  Před rokem

      I think it is. The bondtech extruder has better quality gears in my opinion. Also in the time I’ve installed it, I’ve had zero issues with it. I’ve also had my delta printer for the same amount of time and that has a bondtech clone. It’s done alright but have been having some issues. Not to say you’ll have the same experience. Just giving you my personal experience.
      Thank you for watching!

    How can i remove the ptfe tube

    • @B1GJano
      @B1GJano  Před 3 měsíci

      on the coupler that the tube sits into, there is a plastic ring that you can press down. Press down on it and while doing so, lift the ptfe tube upward to remove it.

    I changed my extruder in my Mega X, for the same as You, but it will not be 415 steps, You need to calibrate it maunaly, mine is 406, its says ABOUT 415 :) You need to measute it.

    Installing Bondtech LGX-B on my Mega X. Had the same problem with baud rate as @skoaljaw2216. The recommended E-steps is 400, so I assume the command is 400 not 415?
