This is really helpful - I would absolutely love to use this as we currently pay third party to do this, i would love a deeper dive into the standard especially on reports etc - I am not trained on Payroll, but as a small business i just need to understand if im doing everything up to standard to start using it!

Thanks for the useful run through. I'd be very interested in a video in a bit more depth - particularly how to set up first time when Directors have had some kind of pay from the company, and also what entries or actions can be deleted / modified if a mistake is made, and what is set in concrete. Hi, Aaron, I would like to ask if it is possible to pay the director's salary every half a year(6 months' salary in one go, or make 6 payments on the same day) on Payroll and how should we do that? What is the HMRC implication in that as in how often we should submit the FPS Report? Thank you very much!
FPS needs to be submitted when a payroll is run, you also get to say when the next submission is expected which is what I would recommend for this type of submission 👍
Hi Aaron and quick question ref payroll...would you know if QB Basic/ Advanced payroll allows the entry on staff banking details so a BACS file can be sent to the clearing bank or is some App needed for this? Thanks
You can on Advance - but its a little bit of a slog to set up.. when set up its fine... I have an advance video coming soon!
Once you've run payroll what category do you assign to the transaction in banking? Payroll Liabilities, Wages and salaries control or something else?
Which ever works for you - QBO will try and use payroll clearing by default, so which ever is best for you as long as it’s a liability 👍
I need help with Pensions.. cant see on the quickbooks page how to see the qualifying earnings. Mine is miscalculating the pension figures from Gross pay. Please help !!
You will need to talk to QBO support on this
