  • For two weeks I was able to loan the Club Sport 745 Petrol Green directly from the German watch brand Nomos based out of Glashütte. I didn't know what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised by the qualities of the great looking everyday sports timepiece.

After a month's wait, I just got mine delivered from Europe. 38mm, white dial, sapphire back. I have to say I'm a little bit disappointed. 1) The dial appears as white in all the photos, but it's actually a light gray. Very little contrast between the dial and the hands, except for the little orange seconds hand. 2) The numbers in the minute track and the seconds track are microscopic. I think the dial would have been better without them. 3) The minute hand seems just a tiny bit too long, as if it's almost about to scratch the bezel. 4) It wears bigger than its measurements. I'm almost sorry I didn't get the 36mm, which also has the orange numbers, which I realize now I prefer to the gray numbers on the 38mm. 5) Most importantly, after not even a full day of wearing, it's already running more than 30 seconds slow. Nomos claims accuracy within 10 seconds a day.
I will however say that the case finishing is top-notch and the movement really is gorgeous. If you get one, spring for the sapphire back.

This is beautiful! I think I like the polar blue dial a bit more though.

Given the price point of this watch, with all the options available to you, what are some of the other contenders you’re considering?

Hi Martin. I think Nomos deliver a lot of value for the money. A brand like Longines with the Conquest or Master Collection is a good option. But inhouse Independent is hard to find at around €3,000.

Can you please tell me why it's better than a tangente or an ahoi?

300 meters never meant diving in the ocean 🌊 at 300 meters deep ! A watch water resistant to 30 meters is only rain. Water resistant to 50 meters is only shower and dishes. Never drop the watch in water. Water resistant to 100 meters is for swimming in a pool. Water resistant to 150 and 200 meters is for scuba diving 🤿 Water resistant to 300 meters is for diving maximum 20 meters deep. To dive deeper you need a watch with 500 meters, 600 meters to 1000 meters deep. Than you can dive. And for the decompression diving you need a helium valve on the case of the watch in order to release the air at each decompression step

It's a pure scratch magnet. It's beautiful when unworn. Once worn, every scratch will hurt. Moreover, non-existing AR, non screw-in crown and push pins make it even less attractive.

When was last time you went swimming with a steel sports watch, Rolex is exactly the same and up till a few years ago they used push pins, and the clasp were also stamped...... And they were charging 10times the price
Also I'd take German craftsmanship over anyone except for the honor and pride the Japanese take in making things

@@chrisjones-zt9ym Well, look at the shiny clasp. One day at the office and it's full of scratches. Same goes to the bracelet. I personally hate Rolex but their are marketing geniuses. People will buy anything they sell, obviously there is no value for money here, but they hold their value in an amazing way. So I don't think you can compare these brands..

@@technoboy21 it isn't about money my friend it's skill craftsmanship and pride in their product.....sadly it always seems about money, if I was going to drop ten or twenty grand into a watch, it would be one that takes skill and time to make
Not that you're wrong about marketing.but when you plan on keeping your watches you don't want one that can be knocked up for a hundred pounds , then sold at 100x
You only need to see the clones you can get for 400 and see that they hold time just as accurately as the ones made by the company themselves, and you realize that there isn't that much skill in machine making a watch that hasn't changed in 50years and you know how much your getting ripped off

Push pins is unacceptable! What a shame. I wonder what their reasoning was for using them.

I agree, why would a company that is passionate enough to develop their own movements and escapement, under engineer the bracelet, I would also expect tool less clasp adjustment...saying that, this is a gorgeous watch, well done Nomos.

I think Nomos is giving you what you need not what you want. From an engineering stand point pins and split collars are stronger and more secure. No lock tight glue on your watch, no bent or broken screws.
