I was in boot in 95 and I had two Green DI, a Dark Green DI and a Light Green DI. In other words, the day you just saw was the day you only seen green.
That was NOT my introduction to Mike Co, 3051 in 1998. There was no talk of "compassion." It was only "This is our job..." and "You will fall in line." It was a shit storm after a few days of sleep deprivation during receiving. Three months of my life that taught me the virtues of humility and perseverance.
Wow! Made his presence known, and explained exactly what is required.
Ours was cool. He said, “thank you for taking the opportunity to join Americas finest fighting force, the United States Marines. My drill instructors and I will be with you everywhere you go until the day you graduate. Drill Instructors, they’re all yours.” He left and then shit hit the fan, the drill instructors went into beast, rage mode.
We started with 59...graduated 32. That's almost 50% failure rate. It's not easy.
Damn and i thought my platoon dropped like flies it was 55 and ended with 47 and 5 of those were pick ups from other companies
I'm sure a few got rolled into another Platoon as I did.

I went through boot camp in 1958 it was rough but I am glad I did it.every one should have to do 2 years in the marine corps.
I agree somewhat. I feel everyone coming out of high school that ain't going to college or trade school should do at least 2 years in any branch. The ones that do go to college after high school should do the same after college.
I would fail right off the bat but yes everyone should be doing some kind of volunteering. I would've volunteered in the pediatric ward or something with IT but yknow covid and all

Marvin Douglas well even though I’ve never been in the marines because I’m 15 my dad was and my brother just graduated last Friday from MCRD they both say that it’s one of those things that you kinda learn to understand but not really so you keep saying yes sir or aye aye sir but the things that the DI’s really want you to understand they will say it in a more clear tone of voice.
This is THE best DI I have ever seen!

That bull,in boot camp.The drill instructor don't get punishment by officers.Long as they don't kill you in basic training,they can do anythings as part of being boot camp drill instructor.
I served my country for 8 years. I think all high school graduates need to serve their country for at least 2 years before college.

I went to boot camp last year and recruits got choke slammed in the chow hall and spartan kicked during firewatch. They have to say that in their sdi speech but that doesn't you won't get you're ass hemmed haha
beating someone doesn't get you anymore or less ready for combat either you have it or not!
We still got punched and occasionally drop kicked in ‘89. I preferred that to some of the twisted games we played. Those were far far worse than a slap or punch.
