🚄 The Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity before the big expansion! With announcements in CR Guangdong style

The Dongguan-Huizhou Intercity was extended from Dongguan to Guangzhou, Foshan and Zhaoqing. The trains through-run into the Guangzhou-Foshan Intercity Loop and Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity, forming a 250km+ intercity line. When this video was filmed, the line had yet to be extended and transferred to Guangdong Intercity. The service on the line was also less than then current service.
莞惠城際在2024年5月26日延伸至廣州,佛山、肇慶,與廣佛環線、佛肇城際直通,成為一條250公里+的城際路線。本影片在拍攝時,路線還沒有延長,也還沒移交至廣東城際,班次也比較疏。

I used to live in Huizhou and used this twice to go to Dongguan for basketball. Convenient as the station was right in downtown, but a nightmare to get a ticket in the almost unmanned station as a foreigner
I want to say the intercity can accept transport cards now, but the transport card need to be verified by China Id or Hong Kong/Macau-to-mailand permit. So it is still not foreigner friendly.

That is the cheapest and shortest “intercity” ticket I’ve seen, and it’s as cheap as taking a longer-than-average trip on a Chinese metro.
But the price is for this intercity is ¥0.6-0.7 per km, metro is still cheaper than this
It is not really cheaper than high speed railway
@@wu.s In fact, It’s more expensive than lots of high speed railway in Mainland China
Guangdong Intercity and its mother company Guangzhou MTR doesn't have the rights to determine ticket prices, and as of now the pricing remains standard with CR Guangzhou (the national conventional and HSR operator) pricing, which is why its ridiculously expensive even though its supposed to be a metro-like service
