Hi Cornelius, Can I use the dremel on top of painted or stained wood? Or should I paint it or stain and varnish after? Thank you!
@@jasminec.s.3977 Use the Dremel first then varnish and urethane after.

I'm 74 years old and have seen my share of "would be" teachers/instructors!
You are not only a very talented craftsman but also an exceptional(true) teacher/instructor!
I will be watching your other videos in hope to learn to carve wood (almost) as well as you do!
Thanks you so much for helping all of us!
Tom
Hey Mr. Kuzia! I appreciate that comment sir! Thank you for your kind words!
Works great for a large dog's nails, seems to hold a charge long enough. czcams.com/users/postUgkxfPgcZ5_Cl0HDUKkMJAKde11YKQZVgMoR I plan to use a couple of times a week, lightly, rather than have to subject the dog to longer sessions. I read that it's important to move quickly from nail to nail so it doesn't get hot, but it hasn't seemed to be much of a problem. I practiced on my own nails first (they have a strong gel, I don't know about this for natural nails), to learn how to hold it. It charges quickly enough for me and I like the variable speed. Instructions are clear, no problem putting it together or changing the tip. Might use this for some legit woodwork, even.
Great videos! Wanted to mention, in a pinch, if someone can't find carbon paper (I live in a small town and have run across this issue..lol) you can turn your stencil over, take a #2 pencil and cover the back of your stencil (just where the lines are you want to transfer, blank space doesn't need blacked out). Cover it well with the #2 lead pencil. Then turn it back over and continue as instructed. The pencil lead layer will act as carbon paper and transfer your image.
Just adquired a rotary tool, have no idea what to do with it, but I was confident and your video helped so much. Too many crafts to discover.
Thank you. Sincerely. Once in a while, you stumble down a rabbit hole while looking for something like this and it takes a...while to aggregate the information. This is succinct, professional AND AWESOME!!! Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the kind words!

I love the examples on how you use this on walking sticks.
Excellent video thanks I now at 54 yrs old I have a new hobby !!!!
Very glad to hear that!
Cornelius Creations Weaponry- I live in Laredo , Texas so I think im gonna make some extra cash doing this never to late to teach and old dog new tricks !!!!!
I went to Staples today to buy carbon paper. She made me feel real old. She had never heard of it. I found it, bought it and will return it tomorrow. Much cheaper on Amazon. I'm just starting to power carve and find your videos very helpful. Thanks.
Haha, yes a lot of people don’t know about it. Glad you are enjoying the videos!
I loved it , you make it look really easy 😭😭😭, just getting started on carving stuff with Dremel and it’s very exciting but difficult since I have zero knowledge on this , but watching doing your projects is helping a lot , thx 🙏
I'm really glad I came across your video. You're great at explaining and I love your step by step instructions.. I was searching for a wood burning tutorial and came across this video and now I'm thinking of trying out some wood carving
How can you not just love this guy? I am trying out my first steps in power carving instead of using small carving tools and i wanted to share a small trick. ( I have to save wherever I can so I can afford what I really need.) If you want to try this out, and you do not want to go out and buy copy paper, try this.... put your print on white paper you can see through a bit. Go boldly over the print lines, now flip the paper and go over the lines underneath with dark pencil. A one or 2 shot carbon backed pattern, ready to go. If you like stencil cutting and want to do more... THEN go out and get your copy paper!
I have just taken up wood carving, and these videos are a very big help. What would we do without Google or CZcams. 10/10
Happy to hear that!
Wow. Excellent video. It's just what I was looking for. I'm in awe. I appreciate you.

Haha, glad you liked it!
I subscribed, like the way you weren't talking down to us. You showed us and admitted the mistakes you made before. I like that kind of teaching. I even learned I already had the tools for the job instead of having to buy more, which made the wife happy.
Right on! I am glad you enjoyed the video!
Thanks for the tutorial. I'm a beginner, and this video has taught me a lot.

This will be my go to channel for wood carving. Can't wait to get started!

So glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful!
At first I hated how long the video was taking, but you described every step and that's what new hobbiest need :) Good video, good editing, and good end product.
Please keep posting about power carving! You make great informative videos!
+DanielliJ glad you enjoyed it!
when stretching your text the way you did it, it kind of warps the shape. By pressing shift when you stretch your text, it will keep the scale of your text so it doesnt warp or look awkward :)
Good tip!
After clicking transform, I don’t think text is re-editable at that point. Using shift while transforming is basically doing the same thing that increasing the font size would do. It just ensures that x-height and width of each individual letter remains proportional to the original font. It doesn’t really have to do with perspective. But in this case, his word still looked good how he stretched it because it was still readable. It was just an idea for future text enlarging :)

I was just about to comment that! It was painful to watch knowing the trick...

Excellent video and teaching technique. I've got the kit but never used it. Now enthused to make my house name board. Many thanks Cornelius.
Glad you are inspired my friend!
I absolutely loved the detailed instructions but I was really hoping for the same detailed information about the carving. What kind of bit’s did you use? What speed? What kind of stain did you use? But I will look into more of your videos. I would like to see you explain in more detail the carving and staining applications. You are very talentedAnd can make a very well-done comprehensive video I look forward to more. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it! Please check out my other videos and you will find some info about that. Let me know if you have further questions though!
You did a great step by step instruction, I feel I can do it myself with confidence
So glad to hear that!
WOW! Thanks so much for sharing your technique. I can't wait to give it a try.
Glad to hear the video helped you!
I just purchased a fairly complete Dremel set for carving, cutting metal, the work station, and that extension. Your videos are so well done I feel like I can begin with some confidence . I certainly expect to make mistakes, but I’m cool with that. Thanks, I’ll keep watching.
Hey there! I’m happy to hear that!
Using graphite paper instead of carbon paper might save you some sanding time: leftover lines can be removed with an eraser. The drawback is that it’s gray rather than black (it also exists in yellow, red and blue but I haven’t used those so I don’t know how they behave)
Good to note!
Gregory Van Vooren make your own Graphite paper. Greseproof paperscribbled on the back with a soft Graphite pencil e.g.6or 8b
Maureen Chantry works with “normal” paper as well. As graphite paper is reusable I personally wouldn’t bother unless graphite paper was hard to acquire.
I just found ur channel and I subscribed 👍🏼
love ur work 😍Iam going to watch all ur videos
Plz do more of these wood burning too
Would Like to learn about this stuff
Tfs :)
Thank you! Glad it is helping!
Always very worthwhile watching your videos, Cornelius. Thank you again...
Hey Gerald! Thank you man!
Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge with the world, I am just starting, in fact I have not even made anything yet, but am super excited to start.
what are the differences in the bit heads you use
Very nice video but, firstly it may not be known that you don’t need to cut the carbon paper to fit the paper, you can just use the sheet over and over again...secondly, don’t tape up the sides and two ends, if you loose your spot on what your copying you can lift the paper & carbon and double check what you’ve done, makes life a lot easier....best to tape paper & carbon in position on the wood...hope this helps 👍🏼
Good idea!
Marc’s Fx - Mr.Marc's FX can you tell me where to get the tools for this project .
Reginaldo Hernandez amazon might be best for you or any stationary shop...hope that helps 👍🏼😊
Marc’s Fx- Thats dude that helps .

Great instructions! Not only did I learn how to print and copy in a style I have never used before; I also enjoyed the carving and learned a trick or two.
I’m happy to hear that!
thank you for the reply, what kind of wood are you using?
This is basswood
It looks really nice with the urethane on it. Nice work.
Thank you Rick!
OMGosh THAT WAS FANTASTIC, you have erupted in me (a natural born crafter) a need to play with wood and fire. Your technique was flawless. Yes I will be subbing you and buying all that stuff you have. My gifts for my friends and family is going to be insane.
Haha I’m glad it inspired you!
You can download Open Office (which is FREE) and does everything Word does.
After I made this video I realized this lol. I need to put up an annotation!
FYI: the carbon ink, if it runs you ruin the art on the wood because it will turn into a stain like and absorb into the wood :(
Guys I found a great website about woodworking that is *TopFineWoodworking. Com*
This website contains more than 16000 woodworking plans and projects
I really like how you did the over the shoulder camera shot that also had your cell phone camera in it. So it was like a picture in picture shot without the editing. Very cool idea!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, how ironic that I just ordered a Foredom SR rotary grinder and a bunch of accessories last night. I can’t wait to start messin around. Appreciate your video, man.

This was a very detailed tutorial. I once transferred an entire 4'x4' image for a carving, only to find I had the carbon paper upside down. Now I always double check. Thank you, great video.
I've done that before! Glad you liked the video!
Hey Matt, I put up a video of a router/Dremel carving I did, I'd be honored if you took a peek and let me know what you think. Thanks again.

Thank you
Glad it helped you!
Im a total newby to this kind of work but have always wanted to make this a new hobby.
For my first project I have this brilliant plan to use a 2ft wide by 1'6" in height and almost 4" thick, half moon shaped piece of a cottonwood tree that had been cut down at the apt complex where I live.
It was cut 9 months ago and I have kept it outside but dry, and now I can physically lift it, as most of the moisture has escaped the wood.
I know that cottonwood is very hard. I found that out when trying, first, to use general wood carving tools. So, now I've purchased a rotary tool and also a wood burner.
I used an electric palm sander to smooth the flat of the wood surface but I still have serious chainsaw markings streaking across the grain. I'm thinking I can work with the chainsaw gouges and smooth them down in the areas where the lettering design will be. Im only putting the word Mills on the wood with a pet paw print as the dot for the 'i'.
So... I've never done this before and in fact, the Dremel and the wood burning tools are still in their packages from being purchased.
Question: Even with my simple design and ambition to make this an everlasting gift to the Mgr of the apts (for Christmas I hope), will this be a do-able project?
Good wood or bad wood? Should I use a sealer on the wood to keep it from drying out further before I finish it and stain & lacquer it?
Any pointers would be most appreciated. I've watched a few videos to get the basic idea but have some concerns over my choice of wood, which is being used to commemorate the 100ft tall tree that was removed from the property. It was huge and beautiful. And healthy. 😳
None of us wanted to see it cut down but the grounds owner did it anyway, so I thought I'd create something of beauty from it. Thank you for this video and Im going to keep watching more.
I LIKE YOUR CARVING. I WILL USE THIS WHEN I START CARVING BASEBALL BATS AS AGIFTS FOR AWARDS. OF THERE ACHEIVMENTS.
Right on!! Great idea!
очень красиво!хорошая идея для творчества!
Рад, что вам понравилось!
Muito bom . Parabéns pelo seu trabalho.
