I actually spent the night there like 10 years ago .I got into Cherokee late , and just wanted to get a cheap room and get some sleep . I got the room for two nights . The fella running the place was kind of creepy looking , kinda snaggle toothed like something out of Wrong Turn , but he didn't seam like a bad guy . Got settled in , watched a little tv , tied a couple flies for fishing the next day , and at one point I went out to my Jeep to get something , looked around and realized I was all alone . No one else there . No one else staying there , and the guy in the office was gone . It was dark as hell , no lights except for a couple street lights . The room itself was pretty creepy too . Straight out of 1967 . The heat didn't work , so the guy had hooked me up with and old radiant heater . It worked , got the room toasty . I'm not easily spooked , but I barely slept at all . I've probably watched way to many horror movies , and this place really got my imagination going . Slept with hunting knife under my pillow . Next morning the guy was back , so I packed up , told him there was an emergency , got the second night refunded , and made tracks . Driven past it lot's of times over the years , always gave me an uneasy feeling .
I wonder if those people do in fact still live there but were just out for the day?
That is what I was thinking.
Well this guy takes chances, and it looks like he enjoys it , but if the squatters came back , he may get a going over, and if the cops come by he could be arrested for trespass or even looting.
Derek Hallows please subscribe to my channel
moviegirl How about no?
+Derek Hallows how would he get arrested if the squatters are the ones illegally staying somewhere they shouldn't
Sad, place could be cleaned up and rooms made for homeless folks... such waste...
Robert O'Connor I was thinking the same thing! 😢
Robert O'Connor looks like the homeless peeps made it this way and got kicked out. considering there were random foods and even a hot plate in one of the rooms. lighters on beds. it's possible there are still squatters there at night that dip during the day.
it's a shame they cant just make it more livable for people who have no where to go.
Robert O'Connor true dat =[
Robert O'Connor ur so right. i always think about this when it comes to abandoned buildings.
I would say the homeless folks HAVE found it
I would be very nervous exploring this place!!!!!!!
He sure needed a buddy on this one..Great explore though,,
Wynona Bieneman the roadway looks straight onto the motel! if anyone was there like he was everyone driving by would see and since its abandoned that alone is a lil sus
Wynona Bieneman same
Taylor I would be more worried about supernatural occurrences.👻
I would have been scared to death like 😨😵😇
Vacancy , always
adamthewoo are those petunias? lol
Just scoot the drugs, trash & scabies to the side, you'll be fine...
Forever and always
5 star rating right there lol
One might say, this place was full of Crap, Carpetbagger, LOL 😁
OMG!!! I think I stayed her in the 1960's with my parents!!! i remember that name so well!!
My family used to own it a long time ago in like 2003 but we sold it around 2005 possibly early 2006, I know for sure that it was in good condition when we lived there, the place behind the main office was a complete living room and we managed well. I don't know what happened to it after it was sold but if I went back so long as I had a knife for any squatter Taft came at me I doubt I'd be that creeped out. Yet I don't remember ever having teddy bears on the shelves in the main office. And there was another sign we'd hang by it that said no on it next to the vacancy sign.
+Anime Cat it went downhill fast
The Carpetbagger yeah it did, I think only one other person owned it after us, but no one wants it anymore because it's so run down. That and something wrong with the land, like uneveness or something
Anime Cat I subbed to you, very interested in the fact your family owned that for a couple of years.
Anime Cat freaken lier😤😤😤😤😤😤😤
Jasmin Casarrubias what exactly am I lying about?
Walking over that filled in swimming pool gave me the creeps. Could be the place they hid the bodies. 😱😱😱
Carrie Rossetter omg my thought also 😲
Carrie Rossetter oh god
Carrie Rossetter see now I don't know which is creepier the abandoned Hotel or this comment . 😲😲😲😲😵😵😵😵😱😱😱😱😱☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠☠

Y4123 you're the annoying one fuckin C bag bitch
My parents, younger brother, and I stayed in that motel for two or three days and nights back in the late 1960s while we vacationed in the Cherokee area. Last time I was in Cherokee, in the early 2000s I was told by several locals that the casino business had caused many of the mom and pop motels and attractions to close their doors because people were coming to the area to gamble rather than as true tourists. I was saddened to see so many places, in the Cherokee area, closed/abandoned where once families such as my own had walked the streets and enjoyed time together and the local "flavor".
Yes, the casino has its own massive hotel and all the classic mom and pop motels have closed down or become housing

The Carpetbagger ,
Cherrio mate! My roomate & I were present when the gambling raid took place & I am retired NYPD & my roomate is ret'd FLEO & we lived there 8 months in 2013. We paid $550.00 per month to owners Leonard & Martha Watson (they only accepted cash). Other residents at that time included military men from BLACKWATER, local jewelry artist Mark Parker (R.I.P.), Ernie of uSMC, Fred & his disabled son. The owners Martha & Leonard Watson spent their time & money at Harrah's Casino where they were Seven Star players. Those owners neglected the Tebby Bear Motel which led to the despicable condition shown in your film. Martha claimed Elvis Presley & Frank Sinatra stayed there & gave her the money to buy the motel. Some of your fans may know Elvis was another MK Ultra mind control subject.

@@jameslangan788 Grayson( Leonard) and Martha were my aunt and uncle. Martha passed about 3 years ago and my uncle passed last year. I’ve shared these videos with him before he passed. He enjoyed watching them.
Pretty cool video. My only critique is that when you scan over a room, go a little bit slower.. All in all, though, thumbs up!
winterprism agree.. good video just missed a lot of what was there
winterprism agreed, just a fraction slower so things aren't a blur
The last time I stayed at the Teddy Bear I was 15 years old in 1968 It was nice then. My cousin and I loved the pool. We couldn't wait to get back to the motel after a day of being tourists with the family. Good times...great memories!
THIS HOMIE LOOKS LIKE THE GUY THAT STOLE WOODY IN TOYSTORY2

Dude there was someone's notebook lying on one of the beds! Call me nosy but I would have had to sit down and read it
You've never been curious to see what's on those VHS tapes in these abandoned places? :)
It would be funny if it turned out to be porn.
+Larry Bundy Jr I just don't have a portable bus player :)
There was actually a woman murdered in the hotel. Domestic dispute.
Holy hell! Guru Larry even watches urbanex videos! Everywhere I go, he is x)
Keep 'em fact hunts coming, pal!
Statimtek, *Correction*: In a high end classy place such as this I do believe the proper term would be,
SPANKTRA-VISION.
Keep Viewing & Spank on! Lol!
Awesome find Jacob! I was happy to see you actually found a Teddy Bear.
I can't believe that you were brave enough to go to such a place like that, I mean what if you run into a crack head homeless person or a gang that just might want to beat you? and where's the location of that motel?
F.k L I'd be afraid of that.
Natasha Bellasario ikr
Or possibly a guarded meth lab...
maybe adam is with him and has a gat
It is in NC
does anyone think its weird that all of the doors are open
I did
amelia angel of the lord I noticed too it is odd
amelia angel of the lord Yea it's weird
amelia angel of the lord I'm wondering if all of those doors were knocked in by the gambling raid and no longer closeable.
maybe police do and when they drive by if ones shut than they know someone is there
Man... It feels like everyone that was staying there just vanished out of no where. Like some sort of Tower Of Terror come to life shit.
This motel is mine

Who else was waiting for a crack head to jump out and be like hisss
A lot of hotels on hard times take in the homeless and are paid by the county. When they have to leave and have nowhere to go they often have to leave their extra stuff behind when they can't store or move anything they can't carry with them. While the owners often take them in to fill up off-season spaces, they inevitably make the place so undesirable to stay in with brawling, loud disturbances and open drug use that the tourists and regular hotel guests don't come back, and the places finally go under.
Sad to see the landmarks of childhood in disrepair and disappearing. Thanks for sharing.
Would love to see what this placed looked like when it was up and running.
kelly anderson same
asunaa thank you I'll check it out

@@crushcream wow thats amzing and kinda sad :(

Don't go near the mattresses. Probably full of bedbugs. Touch nothing. Don't sit.

SteveandLizDonaldson And there was ALOT of caution tape.

I remember picking it because of the name
Fun memories

People left clothes and medications... Surprised nobody is stealing those chairs or beds.
For sure, I sleep on a couch!
YOU'D CHANCE SLEEPING IN ONE OF THOSE BEDS? HAVE YOU HAD YOUR PENICILLIN SHOTS?
Michael Hesterberg dayum Daniel calm down
J Capone I'm surprised too. Even those old TVs they can pawn. Don't forget 8:30 the jeweled encrusted toilet seat 😂
Capone Gatto or tvs
This is actually kind of sad. That place has a lot of potential if you had some money to throw into it.
"Mashed potato party" lmao this dude is great
Actually one of the better abandoned motels, lots of furniture. You could imagine how it once was.
This has now been torn down. As of about a year or so ago. Glad you did a video on it before it was gone
You'd think local high school kids would party there?? Where are all the beer bottles and cans??
Its out in the open on the side of one of the main roads that goes into cherokee, so theres lots of cars that drive by, last time I went the police showed up shorlty after but just asked us to leave.
Tyler Martino
Tyler Martino did you get to explore really fast before they showed up?
It was rather odd, nothing was covered in dust. Specially the room with all the cans and what not. I wonder if someone still was living there.
I love that he spots every teddy bear in the restaurant but ignores the Elmo chicken
This is strangely fascinating. It would be cool if somehow you were able to get in touch with someone who was on staff there, especially just before they closed. It's crazy how it looks like people just walked away with food there, clothes still in the closet, etc.
was hoping an axe murder wasn't hiding somewhere lmao
Tiffany Lawrence SAMW
I like your commentary, and I love the curious George hat!
Gina Livengood 👍
Thank you for the tour!
Videos like this make things like Hallowcon seem so cozy and wholesome...
I would really want to get that place clean up and make it inhabitable again, just something so innocent, just sinned in an instant.
the flowers at around 5:00 were Morning glories...they're my favorite! ☺😃
It looks like maybe homeless folks might be utilizing the place .
Are you ever worried you would run into someone still living in these abandoned places? I know I would be.
Sometimes, when it it looks like people are staying there
The Carpetbagger IM SCARED
TheCrazyCatLady 354 for the first time in my life and I didn't respond to
Jay-Sun l was just go np to say that
Great explore! They must have just got kicked out, the squatters I mean.
sometimes it makes me sad to see places like this abandoned. I always wonder how it was back in the day. Thanks for sharing.
".....fleeing from feces " said with a relatively straight face! Well done!
My parents were from North Carolina. We would make the 12-hour drive from North Alabama to their hometown once or twice a year, and usually go right by that motel. As a child, I loved seeing the sign! It was a landmark for me. The sign is painted on, yes, but the motel would often fill up on summer weekends. If you had looked closer, you might have seen a hook from which they'd hang a "NO" sign when they had filled up. There used to be another motel in the vicinity named "The Pink." It had a wonderful neon sign that showed a fairy that looked an awful lot like Tinkerbelle, but in a pink dress.
We stayed there in the 80's. It's not been closed long
I like your new Jungle Explorer hat!
Its needed for these wild explorations
this place is fucking garbage
Ahmet Kadioglu you IDIOT places like this can be haunted have treasure and can have cursed objects
Kevin Turner I agree I like his hat too and also I enjoyed this video
Atlantis cat fuck you jerk this place is like this abandoned places No one lives you cant see any person just ghostly houses
That 2002 holiday bear reminds me of the ones you’d get yearly from Macy's and similar stores. My grandparents used to somewhat collect them and my cousin has one form the year she was born as she was born around the holiday season.
Oh, you were fun to watch. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Nice commentary.
I enjoy your delivery. Subbed!
Do you have any videos where you accidentally run into a person living in one of the abandoned places?
He usually goes to mueseums
I so want that toilet seat lol
Woo exactly one year later and re-watching this past memory of this place
I've driven by this place quite a few times and have always wanted to explore it. Thanks for this!
I would have been gone after the second room I went into it looks like somebody was still occupying the place.
I wish it was still open!
Showbiz Pizza Collector lol Showbiz pizza! I forgot about that place. My grandfather used to take me there.
Cool!
Showbiz Pizza Collector Fancy seeing you here :p
The gambling operation was actually in the restaurant that is to the left side of the hotel. I met the former owner several years ago. The hotel, I think, was built in 1940 and was designed by a rather famous architect from Miami, FL who had designed some prominent hotels across the southeast. The brickwork was borrowed from the Miami style that he brought with him to North Carolina. I wish I could remember his name though. There was a murder in one of the rooms of an estranged wife who was found by an enraged husband many years ago. I was across the street in the Carriage Inn when it occurred. This hotel is an architectural gem, but the hotel market is oversaturated and many of the smaller independent places have closed as travelers tend to prefer corporate mega-franchises.
Those flowers were morning glories! :) I have a garden full of them.
Hahahahaha...People were fleeing from the poo.....Another great video.Always interesting spots you find.
me: yOU WHERE MY TEDDY BEAR
GallifreyanPony AJ P!atcr YESH
Your visiting this place gave me eerie feelings! lol thanks for posting!
I lived in Bryson/Alarka for a couple years. Beautiful area, good people. Thank you for sharing.
What was REALLY SCARY about this place was I felt as though some DRUG CRAZED PIMP was going to AMBUSH you for trespassing in his crib!!!
According to my studies (aka google) I found out that most MOST of the abandoned hotels or motels have have lots of homeless people or people without a house but has food and money living in this hotels/ motels! So that was probably were someone lived where the food and stuff
NO HATE PLEASE!!!
Awesome video! Thanks. Always love the abandoned explorations.
sorry comment two, I haven't been there much, but love the areas of the south your in, traveled to a few cool southern spots a couple times. you bring us all this southern awesomeness and more. Keep it up
theres def still pple living in there. bums. you can tell.
I stayed there back in the 70s. I believe I have pictures of our vacation there. We lived up and down East Tennessee and the Carolinas for work.
Do you have photos of the motel?
I stayed in Cherokee my 11th grade year of high school (2014) and this place was down the road from where my cabin was on a hill. It was up and running but it still creeped me out!
I knew that place was a mess when I passed it years ago! Thanks for letting us see it. I bet it was wonderful when it first opened, sad to see it go downhill :(
So what your'e saying is that it was a shitty place to stay?
+EmileeArsenic um yeah
I would love to explore there. I haven't been to Cherokee or Maggie Valley in years. I love the vintage motel/hotels also. As a kid I would rather be in a hotel like that than the Holiday Inn or Ramada. I was a very strange child though. Keep up the good work. Thank you.
There are still a few (very few) mom and pop motels where I live in upstate NY. Mostly in very rural areas, or along what use to be major roads before the interstates. (like route66)
That place was insane! great video jacob.
I did not expect that there are still stuff in there! Awesome video Jacob :)
Looks like a set for a horror movie.
That place makes me want to go wash my hands
My family used to stay here whenever we came up to the Carolinas when I was a kid. Loved swimming in the pool. Of course there was the one time all the grown ups got food poisoning in the restaurant.
loved the video, always love watching you visit amazing abandoned places, it's fascinating! I'm from Liverpool in England and have never came across any abandoned places unfortunately. never mind I get to see lots In your videos. keep them coming 😀 xx
loving the safari hat totally suits you! keep up with the awesome work :)

Love how you don't rush through a place but check everything out.

+Blazestar thank you!
Glad you filmed this it is all torn down now thanks for sharing. Homeless people lived there but were forced to leave by law enforcement. The gambling machines where in the first building in the background not the actual motel part.
The Carpetbagger I remember that Motel in the Late 1990's got literature for it back then used to always stay in Cherokee back in the old days seems it is in bad shape now. Not been down yonder since 1999. My Mom and I loved the south and went there every year. I was told it was a great Motel back then! love your Work My Friend!

L M --- Me too! 😫

Every teddy bear left behind must be hugged and kissed, pronto! D:
Wow just wow. At one time this was a great place to stay. I remember staying here in 1991. It was pretty good then and the swimming pool was good. Sad to see it in its current shape.
I will say this I do remember going bye it in the late 1990's and it started to look run down.
