Genuine old and heavy bike rider question. Can you actually feel the difference with a well put together bb-crankset or is it just engineering wank ?
The really free-spinning cranksets that you see spin-testing are with unsealed bearings (and possibly with non-lubricated bearings or those with a very light lubricant, like sewing machine oil). A properly sealed and lubricated bb will result in the crankset making about 1-1.5 complete revolutions in a spin test.
Hambini calls out spin tests all the time. Even when we're talking sealed bearings and proper lubrication, the real test is under load.
And yes, you'll notice a bad BB. I've been through failed bearings and improperly tightened bearings / cranksets, and both were immediately noticeable.

What’s this brown-grey grease?
Is it important to use a different grease for each part of a bike. Accept carbon Paste und normal grease?
Friction paste for bars and seat post. Anti-seize for dissimilar materials (eg bb: alu cups in steel frame), grease for everything else.
When a lube company is one of your main sponsors, there's handlebar stem top right screw lube, handlebar stem top left screw lube ...

Tell the guy to use some PPE for his airways. Having regular contanct with carbon particles his lungs wouldn't last too long. Search for Black Lung Desease/Coal Workers' Pneumoconiosis if interested.
