What is Streets of Fire about?
Streets of Fire is a 1984 American neo-noir rock musical film directed by Walter Hill and co-written by Hill and Larry Gross. It is described in the opening credits and posters as "A Rock & Roll Fable" and is a mix of various movie genres with elements of retro-1950s woven into then-current 1980s themes. The film stars Michael Paré, Diane Lane, Rick Moranis, Amy Madigan, Willem Dafoe, E.G. Daily, and Deborah Van Valkenburgh. In Richmond, a city district in a time period that resembles the 1950s (labelled "another time, another place"), Ellen Aim, lead singer of Ellen Aim and the Attackers, has returned home for a concert. The Bombers, a biker gang from another part of town called the Battery, led by Raven Shaddock, crash the concert and kidnap Ellen.

This is not just a great vocal performance, of a great song, 'The Sorels' in Streets of Fire were tighter than a corset with two people pulling on it. This is a movie that deserves resurrection.
Best fake band.
The story goes that a planned music video for this song was made using footage of The Sorels performing it in " Streets of Fire", and it used this version sung by lead singer Winston Ford. When Dan Hartman got wind of this, he put a stop to it, as his contract stipulated that any version released commercially or for promotional purposes had to have his voice on it. Hartman recorded a new vocal for the video that replaced the one recorded by Winston Ford. A new video with Hartman lip-syncing was later made for the song.
What a shame. Winston's vocals were superior.
@@mach6893wish there was a versión just mr Ford singing
@@mach6893 For this particular song I would have to agree. However, I do love both versions.
@@mach6893youre insane Hatman was much smoother better suited
I've always adored this song, and never realised that it was written for a film until recently. Rest in peace, Dan Hartman, thanks for giving us a classic bop!
I believe the album released about a year before the movie to minor success. The director liked the song and fit the movie so it was added to the soundtrack.
This is the version in the movie, lead vocal by winston ford. Not dah hartman.
Originally Hartman states he wrote it for Hall & Oates! But their album was already finished and had no room for an additional song. So he released it himself! And thank God for that! What a classic!
Despite this movie having quite a few flaws, I have to give the creative team kudos for avoiding common tropes. Not only does the guy not get the girl comma, but the girl does not get the guy she wants. The realization that they are not right for each other and how the 2 guys respectfully see eye to eye are well grounded. The platonic relationship between him and his best friend, who happens to be a woman, felt very realistic. A Quasi sequel would be interesting to see.
RIP Winston Ford. He tragically passed away in an auto accident in 2007 at the age of 55.

"There's one thing we both know, Fish. She needs you a lot more than she needs me."
"She needs me but she loves you."
And some people said the scriptwriting was terrible. That exchange cuts pretty deep.
Id say On The Waterfront is safe if thats the best you got😂😂
No More Timing The Tears That Drop From Eyes . !!!!!. I Can Dream About You I Can Dream About You You Know How To Hold Me Just Right. !!!!!.
I just learnt this; Winston Ford sang the version in the movie but Dan Hartman's version is on the soundtrack CD. Winston Ford's version is on parr with Dan Hartman's.
I never knew this song belonged to a soundtrack 😮
Because Of The Pain In My Heart Yes I Can Dream About You And I Can't Keep My Eyes Off For Loving You . !!!!!.
Old-school.🔊💯
Ellem: You're just going to cut, ah!
Tom: Yeah, you know me.
Ellem: Yeah, I know you're the guy with the right hook.
Tom: ....
Ellem: Is that it. Is that all you have left to say?
Cody: Look, I know you're going to be going places with your singing and stuff.. and... I'm not the kind of guy to be carrying guitars around for you... but if you need me for something.. I'll be there.
Street of Fire!
Movie version, lead vocal by Winston Ford.
The version on the cd soundtrack is lead vocal by dan hartman.
.. must admit i prefer Winston's version.. but both amazing.
Is there a video - performed/sung by Winston Ford - without the film scenes in it?
Not that I'm aware of officially released. However, Oxygene 80 does have a You Tube video showing only the concert scene sung by Ford . Dan Hartman's stipulated in his contract that any version released commercially or for promotional purposes had to have his voice on it.
Tom Cody with the backstage pass
You Are Definitely All Mine Dear. !!!!!.
Donald "Duck" Matthews before he joined "The Five Heartbeats".
I cant decide whether I like this version more or Dan Hartman's.
This song remainds me a girl name jolise. She was from Holland I miss her so much....
Cody is my crush but, I kind of feel saddened that he didn’t reciprocate Ellen’s feelings 🥺😭
I mean he righthooked her in the face just to keep her safe.
@@TrueLegateDamar What does it mean “right hooked”?
@@12Lanye He hit her with a right hand punch.
@@TrueLegateDamar Ah, that’s true 😂

You know some, Waldo?
Is that the Partners In Crime as the backup dancers?
Who's singing this version: Dan Hartman or the actor?
Not even the actor. It was Winston Ford.
Who is actually singing this version?
Winston Ford is singing on this one.
Anybody know the reason they went with fords version in the film instead of hartmans
Cuz hes black its more believable😂😂😂
Staqe presence with the Sorels performing definitely excelled in the area of choreography.
Who knew that Wayne zolinski was thier manager
