Number one rule never hand your passport to anyou sure you show your password you do not surrender it to anyone
They don’t really have much of a choice. They either hand it over, or they don’t get to work. And they need to work to support their family. They only have bad options.
@@CordeliaWagner ? You can’t universally trust people from any religion. There are plenty of great muslims, just as there are great people from most religions. But there are also bad people in every religion. You’re either making this point to be super defensive of all muslims and shove atrocious committed by some muslims under the rug for some weird unconditional love for islam, making a racist stereotype comment, or making an incredibly poor attempt at humour.
@@swearimnotarobot3746 i 100% agree with you 👍
I'm pretty sure by the time you are in a position to hand over your documents you are many many kilometers from home in a strange place where you don't know anyone and have very few (if any) rights and additionally have no reliable way to leave. Pretty sure you're at their mercy at that point, and refusal could merely result in retaliation.
@@E.K.O.H atrocities I think you mean but point well taken I think the point that they're trying to get at is that Muslims tend to have a rather self-righteous streak and portray themselves as champions of the oppressed (especially Arabs and especially Arabs in the gulf States). They're by no means the only ones guilty of such hypocrisy!
A couple Philippines at my work told me how they went to Dubai this way. They were supposed to go for 3 years of work but was forced to stay for 7 years and at one point they were not allowed to leave for visits or bring family to visit in country.

Well of course not. The world is critically low on critical thinking. People would have to do actual reading and research and not blame white people and see modern slavery is alive. I listened to an interview. A lady refugee from Syria. She was asked if she experienced any racism here in Canada. She said nothing compared to the racism she experienced from other Arabs in the refugee camp.
I found that very interesting. She must of been the wrong shade of Islam.
A lot of countries in the middle east are constantly at war with one another, or something similar. And there isn’t many commendable governments there either. So everyone living there just has to suffer through this because they have no choice. And we all know that there aren’t many places in the world open to accepting refugees, especially those from places like the middle east.
It has nothing to do with Islam and everything to do with the Levant being multiethnic
Possibly it's because some people consider darker people below them others consider people of different sects of Islam to be kufir and then there's political stuff

I went once (not realizing the reality of the slave industry) and the energy their was so stark & devouring. I didn’t even realize it until I left the country & God opened my eyes. The only thing that sucks is that I made a very good friend there & I wish to see him one day. He is Indian (Kerala) and he helped me out a lot. I didn’t have to take the bus to the airport because of him (he drove me). He even bought me food when I doubt he was making much $ (money). Good-hearted guy. Anyways, like I said, besides my friend, the energy there is wild. I have no intention of supporting the kalaji or whateverTF culture or people they are called (Emiratis), at large. *Social hierarchy & racial division are the infrastructure* that are quietly/covertly feeding the local Emiratis exponentially & to be “fat at pigs” in every way. Sad; they don’t know it’s to their demise. Why? Because God has the final say. Their oil industry is not sustainable. Soon they’ll be a foolish nation of empty buildings on land that isn’t even fertile. It’s important not to forget your humble, bedouin roots when the desert was all you had.
Is this part of a full video?
Yep, he did a video about Dubai's dark side
The evil West fault I'm telling you
This is all from my perspective and personal knowledge of the UAE so i cannot speak for other countries. The major issue is not that they don't have rights but that their work visa is dependent on their contract, and I have seen real people who have been scammed by some companies that illegally alter the contract upon arrival but if the individual has no proof then it is very difficult to change that contract, that said any individuals legally in the country even if the visa is expired is entitled to legal advice and protections against companies that abuse them. The issue of companies being entitled to ask for the documents of an individual legally arose from the reality that instances of criminals and drug traffickers entering the country through a low skill job application and visa and then just taking off and doing their own thing illegally. Not having documentation makes it much harder to operate in such instances. I believe, though, that to legally request and take possession of someone's documents, it must be present in the contract. You have to be very careful and read your contracts and keep copies of them personally or with someone so you don't get scammed into lower wages more hours or otherwise. I know about a guy who did this, and then the company was reprimanded and investigated by the government they were also forced to agree to the terms of the original contract, which he signed and couldn't be fired cause of wrongful termination laws. Be careful and wise up to peoples schemes, and you will be safe. The Middle East is not evil. Rights are rights, not suggestions, but we have our laws and to us and the majority of expats in the UAE they are fair if you disagree their is no reason why you can't leave there are problems all over the world and we try our best to deal with them that's all I can say.
It's just sad that there's even comments from Saudi Arabian people themselves who says that all these are fake, even tho it isn't 😢
It’s totally fake

Was not this system created by British Advisors who were in the gulf countries in the 20th century ?
Lol blaming white people for everything 😂😂 arabs are a devilish people
Arabs are the same as Indians, blaming on their colonizer that left them years ago
Its against the law in Saudi Arabia to ask an employee to relinquish their passport. Workers are allowed to seek alternative employment at any time. Foreign workers are always either highly paid professionals because their skills are in demand, or menial laborers because you are simply not allowed to hire Saudis for that job or Saudis have better opportunities.
Well said brother ! كفو عليك ذيب sadly their media is the most hypocritical shit on earth they know that but their western white supremacy makes them extremely arrogant and ignorant simultaneously !
I am in Saudi Arabia and what you've said is true.
Stop lying tho... SA is even worse when it comes to those poor Indian & Pakistani workers... they live in filthy camps and they get paid less than 200$ a month.
That's not exactly how it works. The abise part is real, but it often comes from abusing the law rather than the law itself. Also, the law is country specific.
Kafala is also used for higher level jobs in some countries. A lot of the abuse is possible because the workers are often ignorant of the law. In some countries, corruption in the judicial system is also a big problem for the workers.
That said, fafala literally means sponsorship. The main difference between western countries and the middle east, is that in the middle east, workers under a work sponsorship need an exit visa. Also the workers aren't supposed to give their passport, that's just one very common abusive behavior.
The subject is even more complicated and it's impossible to explain all the details on a comment.
Bro how many channels do you have?
I swear 😂
Basically indentured servants.
The good news: some countries are being pushed away from doing this. There is some progress
The bad is: plenty other countries still use this system
They showed a sign from South Africa when talking about racism in the Middle East... 🤔
“Eh close enough”
All racism exists because of white people, don't you know?
It's about modern day slavery... not racism in the middle east... dear god, a goldfish has a longer attention span
@@Cheffe919 yes modern day slavery and the long form video this short is from was specifically about Dubai. I neglect to see where a South African sign ties into that but yes our attention span is short that’s the problem. Geographically I believe part of Northern Africa is considered part of the Middle East but south is the opposite direction last time I had looked at a compass at least. And if your argument is going to be “well modern day slavery is everywhere” yes you would probably be correct, yet I would have to ask the initial question of why is a sign from South Africa displayed in a video that was specifically about Dubai?

That's how the Qatar World cup stadium was built. Many workers lost their lives, guys literally played soccer on graves
Believe it or not a lot of these companies that get their employees from this system actually get contracts to do work on U.S. military bases. Additionally a lot of the big famcy buildings you see in cities like Dubai in UAE and Doha in Qatar, including the world cup stadium are built by laborers like this.
This system and their treatment of the LGBT community makes me firmly believe that we need to be cutting ties with these countries that clearly do not share our western values.
I agreed, we don’t share your western standards and neither do you share ours
Well I mean, if everyone is doing it, then who else will we get to make our international embassies, FOB's, and other military infrastructure?

So, slavery... that's slavery in everything except name. And worst part is, people go into it willingly, albeit without knowing to which extent they're giving up their freedom.
@@riderbrudda2894 I'm well aware of that, and my heart goes out to them. My issue is that there's people so inhuman that seek to profit from that desperation, and that leads to slavery in this case. People in need of a job to sustain their families travel to a foreign nation, pretty normal albeit tragic on its own, and then are told they have to surrender any and all identification documents to their "managers", and that they're forbidden to leave until said "managers" say so. My problem is with the "managers" and their employers, who could choose to be kind, paying the workers what their jobs are actually worth, giving them proper living and working conditions, and allow them to leave whenever they wanted to, and they actively choose to screw them over ten fold...
Qatar and Saudi Arabia (huge US allies) are the countries that do this
every 105 seconds an indian worker dies in dubai
Indian still have a better there tho? You have businesses etc and don’t get passport taken away. The African community get treated badly
I’ve have met many Africans online who have told me of the conditions they lived in the Middle East. One was put in prison from two years when she wanted to leave. Another was paid for several months and threatened with rape. Another was complained to me about their oppressive employers.
Heard a story about this system from my teacher. He was deployed to Qatar, and he would be served beef by followers of Hinduism.
Providing them water, if they were thirst, would result in punishments to the “workers” as the were paid by the US to provide nourishment to the “workers.”
Funny, enough if they tried to stop using their services because they believed it was inhumane, the “workers” would be punished.
They eventually removed any English capable “workers” from the base, and non-english capable speakers the name of their food only.
Honestly we have too much population and so taking lowly skilled people from our country is actually benificial for us

Why show a south African apartheid sign and show a blond haired woman grabbing the hair of a black woman when talking about Saudi slavery?
We need imply to the European too
The "racial" sign shown is from apartheid in south africa, that has nothing to do with the middle east
Why did you put racial in quotations, apartheid was literally a racist system, it might not be in the Middle East, but it is still relevant

It’s often the only work availability. It’s either this or starve.
Ibn 'Umar reported that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "Injustice will appear as darkness on the Day of Rising." Those who abuse others will surly pay the price here and in the afterlife. Some think that because they have money they can own people, some have tribal and racial mentality rooted in their minds like in the dark ages before islam. there is no difference between a blonde, a black or a yellow person, only your acts and deeds determine your value.
And Yet a lot of our brothers will die on the hill that these people are the good ones...

Better to just break that and return back to home country. If enough do it and it keeps happening. They will ne forced to redo the policies they hold.
It's a remnant of slavery under Sharia. Thats why abuse is so rife in those countries. They think of their maids and workers as property/ slaves. They had "sabaya" across ME their grandparents would remember.
It’s not actually that it’s abuse of the law at least in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia it is I know it sounds unbelievable to you but racism is everywhere and in every ethnicity it’s deeply rooted in racism of the Arab people not Islam Arabs are racist against even other Arabs and that behavior against foreign workers is a result of that bigotry that’s in Arabs and a lot of those people that are working in Arab countries get paid double or sometimes triple what they get paid in their countries some of them even open businesses with the money they get from working in Arab countries and develop familial bonds with Arab families because they take care of the kids and stuff like that a friend of mine that had a maid that lived with them said that the maid was like a second mother to him cause she took care of him most of his childhood ie: his mother died when he was young

Indentured Servitude...
Good
nike?
That been happening for Decades,,
Dozen slav-, ehem, immigrant worker even got lashed, malnourished and copped off
why discuss it now??
I thought we didn't care about them, like Yemen
So basically in UAE, this does not happen anymore. They set a rule/law where no more workers are brought to the middle east to work and are not allowed to leave unless granted permission. They countered this by paying a lot to the workers and the workers can now choose to stay or leave, but all of them choose to stay.
They often choose to stay because it’s the only way to provide for their families. They have to bear al the crappy conditions or their families starve. These jobs with these conditions are made for people who are desperate. They might be choosing to stay, but it’s not because they want to, it’s because it’s the lesser of 2 evils. While giving them the option to leave is a good first step, improving working conditions is the next.
@@swearimnotarobot3746 Yea I know, I've been to the labour camps and I looked at the living condition. To be honest it's not bad, they've come to Dubai not to enjoy and have fun. They came to work and send money back to their families, they make about 800dhs a month and send back 60-75% of it back home for their families to live. They literally go out and sit by the road waiting for a job, they all gather up trying to get a night shift, they just want work and nothing else brcaude they want to provide for their family. They all are indians mostly, from rural parts where there aren't jobs or very small jobs at all. The job they have here in Dubai, pays them 5x the amount and their only motivation to work is to provide for the family back home.

They get paid 800-1000 dhs and they send 70-75% of it back home. They are mostly from rural parts of india and they cant even get jobs their, i asked over hundred workers and they all told me, they would rather die working here then go back home and have no job. They choose to stay and work so they can provide for their families and these are real heroes. Their conditions arent even bad, they get their visa done for them, they live in a decent size room, they have free meals, they also have AC. They are so eager to work, they always fight for longer shifts. They cannot live without working cause they want to send money back to their families so they can live happily and in peace.
@@Oblivisci........ @ProphetKilo
ProphetKilo is right, the labor codes were recently also changed significantly PRO workers, for example you can now look for a second job / side job, which does allow the worker to put pressure on the first employer to provide better pay, they are not at the mercy anymore of one single employer.
I am german, and my wife (Filipina) is working here in Dubai where i am right now , typing these words. My misses does get a solid 8K Euro net / month here, which is more than twice she would make in Europe. She is working for an american company located in Dubai, I work in Europe, and she gets twice my pay...
The changes in the labor laws over the past 4 years are significant, absolutely PRO employee.
The guys who work for the building facility company of our building here are all from Nepal, the "guards" in our building are the most chilled dudes ever, in their home country Nepal they would earn max 30 euro / month, and here they get approx 500 euro / month, free accomodation and food, top notch healthcare paid by the employer included they would never ever have access to in Nepal.
The lads room / accomodation is downstairs next to the reception desk, they can use the gym here, the pool in their free time, and soon, free Wifi to be in constant contact with their familie back home etc.
Also they get free air fare in certain rhythms, thats by law, paid by the employer.
They send almost all their money back home to Nepal , and their families are the kings in their towns, the wife of one guy even runs a school in Nepal because their home is already paid now after 3 years working here. All this paid by the money the family receives from Dubai.
Everybody of the lads here keeps on renewing their 2 years-contract , not because they are forced, they do this on a free will basis and they dont want to work anywhere else.
Also, don't forget the tips people get (delivery guys , reception personnel), which sometimes even doubles or triples their income.
I repeat again : i am german, i am skeptical by nature, and if i would see fishy stuff going on somewhere systematically, I would neither be here half the time, nor would i allow my wife to work here if she was abused.
Last but not least, lemme say : IF there are labor code violations here, they are punishable, and the fines are hefty. IF there are such things, its because a (for example) Indian-owned construction company treats their own Indian workers bad, that has nothing to do with the UAE, thats indians abusing their own people. One phone call, just one phone call , and the authorities will bust these companies within hours.
If there is abuse between company owners and workers here, its exactly the same like in any other country.
I have seen way worse violations and workers abuse in Oklahoma and Texas (where i also worked and lived) than i have ever seen here.
What does a 2000 dollar salary in the US bring you when its all eaten up by ridiculously high rent, food, utilities, you dont even have enough left over to pay even a bad health insurance?
Here in the UAE, especially in Dubai, i can drive an hour of public bus for around 50 to 70 CENT , the bus stops are AIR CONDITIONED, a Tea costs 1 dirham (20 cents), a shawarma costs 7 dirham ( 1.40 usd) , thats what the lads do when they have some free time, go for some food and some tea for less than 2 dollar.
Seriously, the hygiene even in the small shawarma restaurants is 10 times better than for example the hygiene in a better Restaurant in the Philippines.
I could continue now for hours, and i stand with my word : the living conditions here in the UAE, especially in Dubai, are way better than the living conditions in the countries where the workers come from, and i go so far to say that 500 dollar salary + free good accomodation + free transport + free food + free healthcare insurance + almost free leisure activities is way better than a 2500 dollar job in the US. Period.
