Horse Training Gone Bad - How A Good Horse Is Force To Be A Bad Horse - Horse Attacks

- #thinklikeahorse #ItIsNeverTheHorsesFault This video has a lot of lessons on bad horse training because of lack of knowledge. Unfortunately, even when no one wants to teach a horse bad lessons, the lessons are still taught.
The amount of pressure they put on the horse makes me uncomfortable and the pressure isn’t even on me😂
Agreed!!!! 100%!!!!
This would be such a fabulous horse in the right hands too.... so much patience despite being confused as hell. She looks like she is walking around aimlessly with no idea what she is even trying to teach.
Incredible! Why even get a wild horse, when clearly they don't know the basic horse language? Good video Rick, very informative!
BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE ARROGANT AND DUMB AND TELL THEMSELVES STORIES ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON INSTEAD OF LEARNING AND LISTENING TO WHAT IS IN FRONT OF THEM
People do it to each other.
Why would they be different to any other living being?
Because they want a wild horse and because you can adopt a mustang for 125 bucks.
@@collie6408 no the hell they were not, those two people are complete dumb asses
@@collie6408 no they weren't
It's cheaper to get a wild horse. Sadly when I was 12 my mom got me one and I had no clue what to do and got bucked off into a joshua tree, and I never really got back on that horse again lmao
"WHY DON'T WE THROW A CHICKEN IN THE MIX!" Literally made me laugh out loud. Not saying you're wrong but that was just funny as shit to me. 😂🐴
The chicken was just like "hey what's going on here" XD
I feel like inexperienced people buy mustangs or untrained horses because they have this Hollywood idea of what it’s like to train a wild horse.
There is something fun about the learning experience and there is a bit of pride in saying you took a horse from green to piaffe in hand. Its just far more work and knowhow than it appears to be in video games hehehe
And what is your point? would you prefer kill the horse? pure stupid comments, taken from another idiot ...
@@Neon_White I think that comment is for the stupid one, thinking like an idiot lol. And if you're right, I don't know much. But this fool knows a lot less than I do...
@@jobquijada9496 From my opinion, yes, it would be better for the horse. It would be best for the horse to go to a home that knows what it’s doing than someone inexperienced. What these people are teaching are bad lessons that will eventually make the horse stubborn and possibly dangerous and may cause that horse to get put down anyways.
I miss those horse game absolute make it like oh hey you get a horse and you can do this and you can instantly do that everybody thinks it works like on the movies and in those horse games and it’s not he’ll real life works
That horse has sooo much patience omg. He was trying so hard to do what they asked, but just didn't understand and they never made it easy for him to understand, they didn't release when he succeeded. Make the wrong things hard and the right things easy. Love your videos!
I'm glad that Rick is addressing things like this because EVERY SINGLE TIME I'm out with my own horses, I remember and retain what he has said.
Shocking. Not only is this the first horse they have ever trained, it’s the first horse they’ve ever even owned or been around. Why would anyone think that was a good idea?
beachbumetta omfg really??
Kate C yep. And they’ve gotten more mustangs. This one they adopted last November.
beachbumetta lord, well I hope they’ve learned something by now or have gotten a more experienced person involved. Or one of them is gonna get their skull smashed in sooner than later.
Benefit of doubt, they might hit up some warwick and correct their noob mistakes.
@@JCElzinga oh yeah, she has definitely put some time in learning as evident from her current videos. Huge improvements! I’m pretty impressed, actually.
I had my nine-year-old watch this with the sound turned off, and she caught about 75% of the problems in this video--- including that nervous leg quiver in the beginning. I REALLY, REALLY wish kids were raised to read animal body language as a matter of course- I think it would protect kids (and idiots like this) from "out of nowhere attacks 😒🙄" and plenty of dog bites.
That's actually not a bad idea, to expose your children to these sorts of videos and let them learn the warning signs themselves. I suspect you're right in saying that it would prevent a lot of attacks from animals, especially if this sort of thing could be taught in schools and whatnot.
A mean horse? Hell no! How many times did that horse ask politely for them to stop.... especially for a wild horse he was so so patient! I hope they didn't cause him long lasting issue, with someone experienced this horse could be amazing
That horse has such a beautiful trot, like a mini prance, it deserves someone who knows what they are doing. Rick - let's get it to your place asap! lol
She legit did everything wrong that could possibly be done wrong 🤦🏽♀️
What a patient horse, with everything; the two people, the buckets, the chairs, small area. That could be an amazing horse. Poor horse, seems like a sweet little horse.
The worst thing about this is that the people who made the video said in the comments, that they hadn’t had any experiences with horses before. So the first horse they chose to buy was a wild mustang. Like wtf.
"Why don't we throw a chicken in the mix!" -- spit out my coffee on that one.
I about died whenever the chicken was mentioned. Love it
That stupid song is driving me insane.
LoL I was thinking the same thing that "music" is making me want to rip my hair out like those people
Me too,😬
This doesn’t happen with just horses. People get animals and have no clue how to take care of them, treat them even down to the smallest reptiles, Rodents, birds, etc. they end up either getting either hurt by the animals or don’t get what “they need out of OWNING the animal” so they either get rid of it or mistreat it more. It’s sad and a viscous cycle that seems to never change. On another note I think all of us have done stupid things or things out of plain ignorance because we were not experts about the animal we had gotten and thought we were treating it right. Some people learn more quickly than others though and some people just don’t have the animal sense it takes.... but we all live and learn.. some people unfortunately don’t learn they just live 😬.
most animals can't kill you if you mess up..
Think Like A Horse I agree with you. I work on an Arabian horse farm. They keep me on my toes and I always say it’s not if your going to get hurt it’s when .
Oh, how true! REAL animal people are always learning(and WANT to learn) no matter how many years they have been around them so we can give our best friends the life they sooo richly deserve. As a certain quote goes:
A wise man isn't afraid to learn
A fool knows everything
This horse is actually willing to learn. This horse tried so hard to communicate. I’ve seen other horses get down and dirty quicker than this horse.
You are exactly right, I seen so many opportunities this horse kept turning his head in, wanting to communicate, and learn... he was trying to do what was asked of him, but because the person working with him didn’t know what he was doing he was causing more confusion, Which will be harder to undo later!.
The sad thing is that I see myself in this. I was like this a few years ago. My so called "trainer" was always PRESSURE ON THAT HORSE!!! Touch it. And my naive young self believed it. Until the day I helped working with this one Paint who nearly kicked me in the face during the "training". He showed clearly that he does not like this way. He was called a "problem horse" after a few weeks by the whole barn. I was so confused first, it always worked that way. After that I started thinking what does the horse want. What did I do wrong, how could I work together with that horse, learning their language
She is lucky that no real injuries occurred. Scared as hell I am sure.
Mustangs are thinkers. Extremely intelligent. She has NO BUSINESS in that ring.
The only good thing about neon pink buckets is that they show up against the greenery when they blow away.
I can feel the horses anxiety by the end of this video. That horse is so fed up and frustrated. That's really sad.
Very sad to see such inexperienced people literally starting a horse off on totally the wrong way. Just created fear and confusion for this little guy. Hope horse ended up with someone who knew what they were doing 🙏
This tore my heart. That poor beastie. This is basically torture being done folks. Not kindness, not firmness, not teaching. Torture.
The additional bad part, is now this is what the horse has learned, Sad days ahead for that horse, unless someone knowledgeable steps in to teach the humans, as with building relationship with good lessons, this poor horse is on a road to the 'bad horse" shuffle. :(
Hey Rick note how ironic the song they have on the video has line that's says " I dont want to fight...." it literally is describing what the horse is trying to tell the stupid humans.
I know I caught that too,
Rick, it would be AWESOME if you took in an untrained/wild horse (Mustang Makeover?) and do a series on how to give them a PROPER start. Show us how to actually do it right! It'd be so cool!
I really hope that these people watch this video and learn from it.
You can tell they're a dog person because they wiggle the hay in an attempt to get the horse's interest, which is something you do with a domesticated predator who get excited by movement.
I love how the second song was saying exactly what the horse was saying
“ I don’t want want to fight with you “
“I give you hints not hard to read”
This horse needs more credit for being so patient. They're lucky they didn't get seriously hurt or killed.
How long did this harassment continue? This is basically equine psychological torture
I was concerned from the beginning, the size of the pen seemed much too small for two chairs, two pink buckets and two humans. A disaster waiting to happen. Like you, I was sure the horse was going to attack earlier or cause the lady more harm.
even I was stressed out myself watching them ...
No comment on the fact that they also left the chairs and buckets in the pen. Like thats so dangerous too.
We have 5 mustangs that have been caught from the wild... honestly the way this girl is working this horse makes me super nervous, I was afraid to watch
That was a little tense to watch! The little horse was screaming out language & the louder he was, i curled my toes thinking "oooow, any second now his going to blow & they're going to be eating that chicken's poop!! That lady is very lucky the horse only did what he did after being harassed like he was. Great video as always 😁
Sidenote. The music alone made me lose iq points.
I know right? I'm glad I wasn't the only one who found it annoying.
In their “texts”, the only thing they think they’ve done wrong is “not introducing whips or ropes while teaching the horse not to fear us.....this was not the right choice.”....really?! That’s the only thing they think “wasn’t the right choice” during this whole video?! And, I’m glad they didn’t use whips or ropes...could you imagine what that would have looked like with these two?🤦🏻♀️ Hopefully, some will learn from watching and listening to your video, Rick. Thanks for doing what you do. Mr. T, Buddy, Mokie Moke, you’re all good boys!!! 😉😊❤️
If this pony had the right people, he would've been the sweetest baby ever.
I thought so too, given how much he endured and was trying everything except a direct attack (like towards the end, and even then he still did not carry through but turned away after knocking her down). I hope he finds a new and better home.
I agree. You could see he wanted to learn, they confused the crap out of this poor baby. He’s such a cute mover too. I hope that he gets proper training and new owners
Alot of people seem to not be able to actually see how deep a horse's process is, and how a horse actually thinks instead of how a human thinks. They can't seem to get into that horse mentality.
Why do you say would have? Can't he still? I am a baby and still watching video, your comment almost sounds like he will no longer have a chance? I don't want to finish video to cry-i'll check other comments too. Sorry and thanks.
Man its so aggravating just seeing this. That poor horse. That horse has a TON of try in him. Now it KNOWS if he attacks the stupid human, the human leaves. It should've never gotten to that point.
Poor little horse. Hope he finds someone who trains him correctly. He has a beautiful trot!
Oh gosh, I never trained a horse but I am around them for almost 17 years and I was frustrated by how they never released the pressure. This poor horse was so kind but in the end he had no other choice. That's the very same reason why dogs bite and cats scratch. Because people never listen.
Made me upset. It's like someone ignoring their child who is desperately asking for help and receiving none. If he was trying to hurt, she'd be dead 100%
I'm having barn drama right with one of the other boarders who is shanking and whipping (with a dressage whip) her very young OTTB gelding and calling it "training." She has never trained a horse before but is a know-it-all who has a big ego - she won't listen to anyone. Now he's so defensive that he's attacking humans, to the point where her vet has advised her to euthanize him because he's so vicious (he attacked the vet.) She's had to put a sign on his stall warning people not go near him because he bites. She's now hired someone who calls herself a "horse behaviorist" (I don't even know what the eff that is!) - I watched him attack her also last week. People who I thought were good, sensible owners are siding with her. Now I stay far away from them...
I saw the comments about the music and thought ‘okay it can’t be THAT bad’... never have I been so wrong about something I immediately burst out laughing what the hell is this shit. I can’t stand people who put happy music over horse training videos like this, the music is like a facade, to make the viewers feel all happy and warm when their training methods suck ass and the horse has such a poor start in life involving humans.
I couldn't agree more!
Rick…I agree when you point out the bad things but your not telling people how to correct the issues when you point them out. Your telling me the why you need to fix this but not the how to fix it.
It would be helpful to tell folks how to treat a horse like this when they first get them.
I had a horse when I was growing up and showed dogs for 20+ years and I can help others on teaching their dogs because I can think like a dog…lol but I’d love to know what you would do if you got this horse…
I know you did this video a year ago but as a learning tool for me and I’m sure others it would be a big help…Thanks Rick. ❤️🐶🐴❤️🐶🐴❤️🐶🐴❤️
Try Steve Young Horsemanship. He describes horse psychology and shows training everything from wild horses to horses terrified of trailers.
@@charlietipton8502 Yay another Steve Young fan......He's my hero.🐎❤️🐎
I love how the camera guy didn’t flinch at the end and persisted to get the shot when the horse could have very well stomped her guts out!!
Give that guy a camera award!
Sarcasm!
lol good point
People who don't know horses should not be buying a wild animal. Intentions are there but its not good enough. I hope these people get knowledge or find someone who knows what they are doing.
@@tuppy That girl was lucky she wasn't hurt seriously. So was the dummy with the camera. I hope they learned something from this, but I doubt it.
I see the same thing all the time with dogs. You see children laying on,walking on or trying to ride a dog. Then the dog bites and is put down while the people says it was just out of blue that this dog bit. I have never own a horse but like your teaching with watching body language. Watch your animals and they will teach you.
Rick, 25:25 If you listen to the music/lyrics it says, I think, "I don't want to fight with you; I'd rather 'lie' to you." Which is a typical pattern for humans when it comes to power/dominance.
Man, you were right on EVERY count! Every step of the way. That poor horse had a lot of patience, and in the midst of all the wrong signals they gave this horse, he did not want to hurt them!
This woman is scared out of her mind, she was just acting cocky. Animals don’t like being aggressive unless it’s the last option, like you said they will give plenty, I mean plenty of signs to back off. People are just not educated in the right way and this is the reason of animals up down and thrown in shelters for the rest of there lives.
Such a sweet little horse. This is so sad.
The music was the first red flag
I haven't been actively involved with horses for 30 years, but I see nothing but fear, confusion and desperation in this poor horse! It brings me to tears!!!
Thank you for screaming about the pink stuff and chickens, makes me giggle through my tears.
I've seen this video. The horse's name is Chance and these people are first-time horse owners... if you watch any of their videos you'll know that these two severely lack knowledge and this poor horse has not been trained right at all. Thank you for making this video and addressing this, Rick!
That is exactly why they have most corrals or arenas in a circle. Let the horse come to you. Trust is earned. They need to just spend unprovoked time with the horse. I really like what you are trying to teach!
Get a book and get comfortable. The horse has not taken his eyes off the person the whole time. The horse is going to end up sweaty and nervous. That horse just needs some time. Honestly he's been really patient with these people. You need to include what the correct things they should do. That would have been much better!
I know nothing about horses and I'm not sure that I would have saw all of it had you not walked me through it. You are a horse whisperer! I felt that horse and I feel so sorry for it. Being wild, losing it's herd and then all of that. wow. Thank you for taking this time and educating even those of us that don't own horses.
Glad it was helpful!
I know someone who rescued a BLM male horse that was at one point, used for work but he was literally born in the wild, grew up in the wild and was stolen from his home and was abused by men. They just expected him to just obey and work. By the time my friend got him, he was about to be sold off as dog food and glue. Thank God she got him in time. She respects him he respects her and she just lets him live how he wants, no giving horseback rides or getting hit brutally until he bled. He is very protective of his human. He chased off a few coyotes because they were about to hurt her. He is an amazing horse.
I don't know diddly squat about horses, but even I saw the warning signs and the nervous confusion in the horse. I could see him getting frustrated and giving off warning signals that he's about to attack if the pressure doesn't stop. This poor horse is doomed with the likes of these two knuckle heads. BTW, I didn't see a freeze brand on this horse. Has BLM stopped doing that?
How many people think that those two, uh, "trainers" spent more time choosing the cutesy-poo music for their video than they did in working out a sane way of dealing with their new horse?
Unfortunately may be true.....🙄🤦
I can't help but wonder if there's other factors at play here, behind the scenes....
The fact they had those chairs in there too annoys me so much
Those chairs bothered me, too. They should have been removed. Then I thought, maybe the people have them there as a sort of protection so the horse can't run at them if they stand by the chairs, with the chairs between them and the horse. Just my thought.
Rick, I really want to know what you would have done in this situation! What would you start with? How would you communicate with the horse? I really want to watch a video, where you show how to do it right.
Me too
Me too
Watch some jimmy Anderson videos
He has tons of videos on his website and his CZcams channel where he explains how to handle horses and mustangs. It’s not going to be a one day video process but years work of horsemanship and understanding.
Camille's Mustangs is a great channel to watch! She has a very long video on her mustangs trainings, she doesn't cut anything out so you can see all of it and she explains what she's doing, why, and what it does.
Urbanites who got all their experience with horses from watching Flicka
Ol' Mr. Ellis Lmao
Poor horse. It's given enough warnings and seems quite tolerant for one which is not used to humans. Many horses are nowhere near as forgiving as this one. Bad start to the introduction to human contact. Shame, it actually looks like a beautifully natured horse at heart.
Green on green gets you black and blue is correct. Everything about this is so wrong. Worse still, it is presented in a teaching format that might get someone seriously hurt. The girls friend had never been around horses and appeared to attempt to trim it and I quit watching their vids. I offered a few suggestions and was informed that they were going to show how to train a horse without "pain, fear or domination". From what ive seen, she now has a barnyard pet you can do nothing useful with. So what was her point?
The girls a nervous wreck no confidence or knowledge of horses, scooting around with her arms tucked in her sleeves and creeping around. So weird
Saddest part about this is that this poor horse had to stay in their company. talk about tragedy, taken from his herd and his freedom and shoved in a box the size of a shed and basically with their ignorance ,mistreated. To the horse this is basically abuse.
My goodness that poor little horse. Looks to me like this horse is getting more aggressive and they don't get it. Man I feel bad for that little horse.
This video made me soo uncomfortable and anxious watching this poor thing warn these people over and over XP
Yup. I felt the same way. It is almost as if we were thinking like Horses.
He isn't dangerous. He just needs the right owner
They are trying way to fast, it is obvious they want this horse trained for a saddle, not trust, not companion. This is crazy.
Why would you take on a mustang when your new to horses, he basically jumped straight into level ten.
This was so painful to watch. Honestly, I don't even think you need a lot of 'horse' knowledge to read this little horse. I think these people were so full of their own pride. Like for goodness sake, this horse was used to being wild, you don't go training an untrained animal for hours on end. Even when you get an animal from a shelter it's gradual. Poor little horse, I'm glad he stood his ground and gave these people some humble pie to chew on.
Oh he would've been a really nice horse if trained correctly... He has such a pretty trot...
Why are there chairs, buckets and Mats in the “round pen”? Also, isn’t it part of BLM guidelines you have a shelter?
This video is so bad. 2 people in a SQUARE work space, buckets, mats, chairs, etc.
this horse is scared! This horse is so confused. The horse keeps looking for release. He turned his body toward the person, and the person didn’t give any release!
Judging by the clothing and actions of these people, they have no clue what they are doing.
According to this girl, the BLM guide to owning a wild Mustang says, quote: "you don't need to be a trainer or even experienced with horses to gentle a Mustang. All you need is patience and time"...
Apparently it also says, quote: "Mustangs are very curious. Wait until they come to you and touch you and then you can start touching their face"...
I have no idea if this is true!...
E Gagnon yikes, she doesn’t need to have this horse if she doesn’t have common sense. 🤦🏻♀️
those people obviously have never worked with horses before, and about the staring, that's just creepy, i always get a weird feeling when people stare at me.
Like somethings gonna happen
Title: really patient horse loses it after 40 minutes of bullshit.
I love how the song just says it all «i dont want to fight with you» «i try to give you hints»
I've spent the past 5 months working with my first wild mustang and this video actually makes me sick for this horse. Poor guy, I don't see how someone with no experience can take one of these horses in. So dangerous.
And wild horses are a totally different "breed" than domesticated horses. So sad for this little guy.
Poor little guy, he was really, really patient with them. I hope he's doing well, wherever he is.
I found your channel randomly . Honestly one of the best video series I've seen in a bit. I learned a lot .I wish people could understand that just because you have money to purchase an animal (and buy the pink accessories lol) it doesn't mean you SHOULD. This couple should have realized they do not have the proper knowledge to do whats right for this horse. (they should have donated their money to a rescue if they wanted to help the starving horses).
I appreciate that!
The only thing surprising to me about this outcome is that it took the horse so freaking long to finally attack. He was doing his damnedest to understand and they didn't give him the least chance for doing that. A real fine horse, and a real pity he got into the wrong hands.
Anyhow- very informative video. I actually saw most of the clues you pointed out, I must be learning XD
It drives me crazy when I see people filming videos like this...it is IMPOSSIBLE to truly focus on your animal when you’re trying to get that perfect shot for CZcams! Sure it’s fine when you a solid relationship with your horse but this is a BLM mustang! He needs 110% of their focus and attention...they’re missing details left and right. If being with a horse is just a dumb excuse to get “likes” on social media...don’t bother!!!!!
He thinks he’s dealing with a dog
Alright. This was super informational and I'm really glad that you made this but could you show a video of you explaining good things to do. You always show what not to do and you do an amazing job at it but it would be extremely helpful for you to show everyone the proper way to work with a horse. It would be especially good for the horses out there that just want to understand.
That horse was actually worse at the end of the "lesson". I hope they sold it to someone who actually knows what they are doing.
If anyone is unfamiliar with horses, please don't buy one. Do rescue them or buy them if you have spent a few years learning all you can about training and riding and the expenses you will have. Even after that continue to learn and understand the horse's mind. The horse will also teach you. I went to a Miniature Horse farm with my niece and the best thing that was announced during the educational lesson during the little jumps and tricks was, loudly to the crowd. "DON'T GET A HORSE". I'm glad the speaker said that because thousands of people and kids come there, and that's what the children would say in the car. "Mom, dad I want one!" A little while later the Mini, Pony or Horse would end up sold or at auction.
With someone who ACTUALLY knows what they're doing and speaks horse, this Lil guy would absolutely be a star. He seems like such a sweetheart. Not all horses have the patience to put up with dumb humans for that long. Poor guy. Too bad he got stuck alone with some daddy's girl who wanted a pony for her birthday-- but not only that, she wanted a wild pony. Absolutely disgusting.
Rick, what is it about the color pink and horses? Every time I see pink horse stuff at Tractor Supply Company, I think about you, and what you would say when you see pink. I just laugh. "Oh if Rick were here now."
Lol I love how the music they’re playing ironically goes with what’s happening
“I try to give you hints, they’re not hard to see... I don’t want to fight with you... nows not the right time”
Im just scared when watching this video. Human brain normally sending to you a warnings after horse first bite ,warnings like 'hey, maybe be careful ? Hes not friendly to us. Maybe doing something in bad way?' Lot of ignorance to signals from horse.
Great video, i noticed from the beginning that the horse was uncomfortable with the human, its all in foot placement. Look at the horses feet, if it were calm his rears would be relaxed, maybe one is cocked, My Belgian Draft has taught me so much about horses its crazy. This old amish horse taught me so much, round penning him was a breeze, he was like "been here done this." I felt like he softened me, because I went in there with clint anderson's instructional videos, and Goliath was like "Hey come on dude, I already know how to do this! I'm 22, not 2" i'm gonna miss my old boy here when he passes from DJD :(
Great narration Ric. You are 100% right in my opinion. Poor horse...
“But Rick...” 😂😂😂 I love when he says that
Even a person who doesn't know much about horses can clearly see the horse is about to attack that guy. He stopped backing away and started putting his face in the guy's face. How is that not obvious threat posture?
What happened to BLM approving fencing?!?! That is one of the most dangerous and shittiest fences I've ever seen!!
They don't actually enforce their own regulations most the time. They don't really care where the horse goes, as long as their first stop off federal land isn't a killpen, cause that would be bad press for them.
Just needs to be 6 ft tall. Who knows who checks that out.
These folks look like they are clueless. I researched 6-8 months before buying my dog! Breeders, training methods, appropriate diets, best local vet, etc.
Well said!
I wish the BLM wouldn't adopt horses out to novice inexperience owners. I get it...finding homes for the mustangs is hard. However, I've seen so many mustangs ruined by first time horse owners because of the romantic idea of "rescuing a wild mustang," and the horse ends up getting ruined, labeled bad, and dumped.
These owners are nagging and harassing this poor horse, instead of communication with it.
Thank God that you saw and reviewed this video. Such a cute little horse who is stuck with inexperienced trainers/horsemen. Such a shame. :( Hope they get help soon and/or find your video here and learn from it. That little horse can use some blessing and horsey friends. ♥
