Ruud is class. One of the best players in the world.
Can he finally win something more than a 250 - that is the question.
😂😂😂🤣🤦...
How is he class? He seems gentle, but that's about it
@@deathbombs he has solid fundamentals but top players can break down his backhand. when he was in the top 10 he was the only player in the top 10 never to have won a set off Djokovic even tho they have played 5 times.
@@huzcerand ??? Tell me how many gran slam finals do Rune, Fritz, Zverev, Hurkacz, Rublev have ?
It was pretty RUUD from Casper to hang up on Shelton like this!
Man the commentators absolutely glazing Shelton, thankfully Ruud won
My favorite player on tour ❤Ruud
Mine too.
Calm power vs the screamer. Amazing Ruud!
You couch potatoes need to man up.
Shelton isn't screamer at all. Did you ever watch Alcaraz matches?
He is. Loud & clear.
We are talking about this match and every matches indeed.
The *annoying screamer*
@@airulnizam9are we watching the same game lmao
That was a great match! looks like Ruud consistency is back!!
The problem for Ruud is always when he comes up against someone good enough to break down his backhand.
Very professional performance from Ruud.
Celebrating winning a set like you won a grand slam is ridiculous and always will be.
Wow Casper has really improved his serve. His game is better than it was last year. He's become more aggressive and it's paying off. He's beating players with big serves who are very aggressive. He's not been broken the whole tournament. Even in the last tournament when he made the finals he was only broken in the final against Thompson. I'm curious to see how he plays against Holger. Great job with his team. Ben is also playing top tennis and improving so kudos to his team. He still needs to find that extra consistency on some of his shots.
Holger vs. Casper matches are always so fun
Shelton's return stats are probably the worst of anyone in the Top 20. Whatever about breaking serve he didn't even create a single break point over 3 sets! in fact in 2023 Shelton was the 2nd worse in the entire top 50 on return of serve points won. only Eubanks was worse.
This is a perfect description of this match and these players great job.
The commentaters:not ONE single sentence revealing they know ANYTHING about tennis. Just exclamations like "wow" "how good was that" etc. Why not hire some people who knows the game, the tactics, the history - just a little. Something that could ADD something for the viewers.
Agreed. And to think that people like Martina and Connors used to drop in and comment on big matches! Now it’s this…
That’s a fair complaint
Mr Ruud demonstrated how to be humble in victory. Something Ben and his father should take note of. Congratulations Casper, well done!
He makes a phone celebration n he isnt humble? 😂😂😂
U didnt see the hand shake st the end? 🤡
Tip for tennis TV, put both players in the thumbnail, because i knew from the thumbnail that Ruud won which ruined the highlights for me.

What an ass comment where was the scream? He won the set in tight tiebreak! 🤡
No bad feelings towards Ben Shelton but Caspar Ruud might be the nicest player on the Tour so I'm always happy to see him win :)
Ruud is almost in camouflage when playing on this court
What a joy to watch #ruud humbleness and
...see Ben run, run, run
Pity we couldn't watch his father face at the ende of the match.
Go Casper 4 the 🏆
The humble Casper Rudd beats the proud Ben Shelton. Wonderful.
Wonderful battle.
Shelton every points he wons likes he won a GS
Not really. He celebrates a lot when he gets a big break or wins a tiebreaker or gets a tough hold. Sometimes when he closes out a set. But he doesn’t celebrate more than a fist pump on 85% of the points he wins it’s clear you do not actually watch him play .
@@nickbacherbaronsoc7193i beg to differ. I think its you who has not seen him play that much. He literally celebrates like 90 percent of the time. hes a good player, just hope he tones it back down a little

Shelton got a so bad education from his parents 🙄 😡 🙄
Hey couch potato… You haters are boring. Ben wasn’t humbled… he lost. Unlike you he is a professional. He knows losing is part of tennis, always someone better.
it was a very close match against #11 in the world and 3 time slam finalist Ruud lol
@@bachstrad1994 Ruud who has never actually won any tournament beyond the ATP 250 level of course. Ruud is decent but has never been able to win any big tournament because Top players can beat him. but Ruud should actually have won in straight sets today. Shelton has a big serve but in 2023 was the second worst returner in the entire Top 50 - only another American Eubanks was worse. The return of serve is the hardest area of the game to improve. most beyond the age of 21 never manage to improve it in an impactful way as the stats have long shown. you either have it or don't by this age. A big serve can only take you so far....
The one thing that Ben Shelton really needs to improve on is his return of serve. He makes too many errors into the net. You’ve got to get the ball over the net. Not sure if it’s a foot work issue or what, but he struggles with it more so on the AD side. Also he looses a lot of points with his drop shot due to his court positioning. But beyond that, I see a ton of upside to his game especially being a lefty and a strong server. Great match by both. In the end, power wins points, consistency wins matches.
Amazingly played Casper Ruud 👏👏🤍
Well done Ruud.
Still living rent free.
So thrilled that Casper Ruud won !
Pleased with the “other player” lost
Excited by the fight of the Vikings in the semi-final
Watching Shelton loosing a match is a sweet and guilty pleasure, especially against a respectuful and humble player as Ruud 😊
Yeah
I find no joy watching that spoiled kid and his father😹
@@ronjotner8068 Ditto. I find nothing to like about the Shelton personality.
It's always a good day when casper wins and also when shelton loses
Casper his game is similar to that of Nadal, his athletic ability is his greatest weapon.
Ruud's issue as always it has been is that top players break down his backhand and he loses. that's why he has still yet never won anything bigger than a 250.
@cookie0106 given that 14 of Nadal's 22 slams were won on clay, I'd say yeah pretty much on athleticism and top spin forehand
Ruud! I've always liked him, but I cheer for him even more after all the people hating on him in comments the past year.
No phone call tonight? LOL
Great performance from Casper GG
Seeing Shelton loosing makes my day.
Loved these results
Ruud & Shelton was a fabulous contest. The highest level match of the day. All of the commentators from TTv & TC were living!

That's very uninformed when Shelton didn't even create a single break point over 3 sets and in fact only won 24% of all his return points which is actually dire. @@huzcer First all you all keep talking about age well he is still very young compared to many of the others in the top 20 and has been on tour a much shorter time than most. I look at the positives and also watched his match last night and he didn't do bad at all. I could see if he was losing with very lop sided scores but he's not. He is improving. I don't expect him to just come on tour in his first year and a half and beat everyone everytime. Who has? With the first time out of the country playing the best in just little over a year and getting to the top 20 and not falling down is fantastic in my opinion. Last I will take the words of professionals that have actually played tennis in the big times over internet trolls that sit on their bums an criticize any and everything.
@@harrodroach8606 return is very poor and that aspect doesn't improve much historically from this age. it depends partly on things that can't be taught like reaction time. he got to the current ranking mainly with serve. but the players above him now are good servers and good returners. a big serve can beat lesser players but better players less so.

@@huzcer …………. He won the tie breaker. He pushed Ruud to have to play his best. It was a 3set match . I can agree Ben Shelton is not a good returner and has to find a way to improve which I know historically is a difficult task but his tennis career professionally is very young so it’s not impossible to see that improve. Though if it doesn’t he will never see past 10th.
Both players played well. I only watched 1set set, even tie breaker extremely close. The male commentator was more ‘balanced’ but the female commentator praises Shelton’s almost every shots not giving any credit to Ruud. Understandably it is a US channel and Shelton is the US star… but still wish a bit more ‘professional’ commentary. One example, when Ruud served I guess at tie breaker 8-7 (set point), Shelton had a perfect backhand return winner. Amazing indeed. However, it was also Ruud’s serve, not on spot /T. Listening to the commentary, it felt that Shelton should have been top 5, which he is not yet.
Good very good.arrogant shelton😂.
BRAVO, Ruud!! That was classical defensive tennis at its best.

Your Shelton is very emotional, he celebrated winning the first set as if he had won a Grand Slam. Too much emotion Mr. Shelton
You sound so damn ridiculous when you say something like that.
The first set took over an hour & the TB was very tense. That's why there was such emotion in the stadium all around. Both players were irritated about different things, Nacho had to manage the situation, & even Ruud spoke in the interview about how talented Shelton is & how tough the match was.

What happens to Ruud's forehand? So many around-head shots like Nadal, but not as powerful.
It’s always been like that. He took a lot of inspiration from Rafa’s technique
This is the slowest hardcourt on the ATP Tour. It would make a lot of forehands seem slower
RUUD is very handsome. The arrogant player, once more, is the loser.

Shelton is pretty painful. Shouting Vamos? Guys American. Clear Bias as well in these vids. Tite break 1st set and they showed 2 points Ruud won and 8 for Shelton..

Such a discrepancy between how the players & commentators speak about Shelton (and his dad) compared to this infantile comment section. Night & day. Ruud himself couldn't stop gushing to Candy over Shelton's talent & how competitive the match was. The commentators are always so excited to watch him play. The stadium kept chanting Shelton's name in enthusiastic support. It was a great match from both. The best of the night.
Yeah! I don't think the commentators are as jealous as some of the guys who leave hater comments about the confident young man.

I like Ruud, but I don't really care who win as long as it's not Shelton lol
@newbro I don't even hate shelton but bruh the ending for the first tb was pathetic
So much misinformation. That is NOT what Forcadell was saying. There was drama during the very tense TB because Ruud tried to pause because of a call on a point instead of playing at the pace of the server. He kept Shelton waiting during the TB & the umpire had to sort that out. Both of them were pissed about different things going on & Nacho was trying to manage the situation.
Liar
Great day anytime shelton loses....
who is the girl in ruud's team
Wonder if their dads played each other?
Hang up one more time to Ben!!! Ben is overated. Except serving, his backhand is weak. His volley is almost zero. His slice can be in WTA. His ability to make variations is very weak. Only thing he does best is to hit as hard as possible. Look at Ruud's style, it is totally different. Ruud tries to place the balls and construct the point. That's how Ruud gains titles and got into 3 slam finals.
His slice is developing. His returns aren’t good enough. His back hand is average. Maybe the best serve in tennis. Tons of forehand power. He is an ok thinker. I think some of this is an exaggeration. He can volley and slice alright.
Must say im struggling to find the reasons for all the Shelton hate. I watched him at the AO this year and brought great energy and enthusiasm to the matches. He is never as salty as Zverev or Tsitsipas in defeat and arguably has not had as many immature moments so far as Rune. Probably the player in the top 20 for me almost with some of the biggest areas where u can see improvement needed so that's exciting to see where his game might still get to. Have no idea if he will get top 10 or not but I think so. Not a big fan of the vamos but hardly deserves all the negative sentiment here. Best prospect right now out of all the American guys though Michelsen also looks like he could be big. Well played Ruud, as a tennis fan im happy to watch this clash of styles than 50 shot rallies all the time
