  • I couldn't find a video idea to put this in so here it is on its own.
I did a lot of research on my last Doom video and because of it I found some interesting things. Here's one of them. If I decide to make any more videos like this I'll call them "Doom Quickies" just like this one. If the topic is some other game I'll still call it a "-Quickie".
The Doom WAD I'm playing in the video is Galaxia: www.doomworld....
I made a less serious "Doom Quickie" here: • What is a Cacodemon? -...
    Music
Into Sandy's City - Doom II

So what you're telling me is if it weren't for John Romero putting online deathmatch in Doom '93...
We wouldn't have Armored Core or Dark Souls?

Modern gaming and internet culture really owes a lot to doom. It's surprising how id didn't milk it dry back then lol

@@Blankult Interestingly it seems John Romero was in favor of merchandising while John Carmack was against wanting to maintain focus on the core product. In my opinion its this mindset that while unfortunately contributing to the dissolution of the team producing Doom and Quake; it ultimately helped the internet culture of the time as a whole evolve quicker.
I am mostly pulling this from "John Romero's Irish Adventure."

You should do a video on the progession of online game services. I used Dwango back in '93. I used many of the early services in the 90's as well. Some I can't remember the name of. but there was the Microsoft game zone, TEN from apogee, (not solid on the following names) Mplayer? I think there was one called Kite? or something with a "K" in the name. Gamespy which was a game changer. I spent an entire year of my life playing Quake online for 12+ hours a day. It would be awesome to have a vid going over these and maybe possibly a series going in depth on each one. Just a thought. Your DooM videos are excellent.
