    This is the best review I have seen for this riser. I have one coming from VPA. Thank you!

    I had the same limbs in foam core ten years ago. With that riser. Very quiet deceptively fast.

    Concise and informative, with information I can use. I like the short riser. A good looking short longbow. ScottinPa.

    I RAN INTO THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY STRING NOISE. NAVAJO WOOL SILENCERS AND A PAIR OF SIM STRING LEECHES REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE. LOL.. I SHOOT AXIS FOR YEARS SAME TIP SET UP AND LOVE THEM.

    I have some Bosen bamboo carbon coming. I think I’ll try them on my VPA👍 Great video

    The ww black wolf riser also comes with the same size set screw hole on the opposite side. It's currently my favorite ilf riser if I have to shoot ilf.
    Similar to the vpa vapor I used to have a morrison 17" metal riser (gen 2 I think?) and loved how it shot with longbow limbs. Not my favorite recurve riser but shot very nice with longbow limbs due to the straightness of the riser.

      @woodsmansfinest3814  Před 3 lety +2

      The limb pad angles are crucial when going between longbow and recurve limbs. I'm currently owning 5 risers and 7 pairs of very different limbs. Makes for 35 combos and that's the quintessence I can report. Love the black wolf.

    Can shorter recurve limbs be mounted in this bow for an even shorter bow?

    I THINK MY VPA IS EARLY MODEL? IT IS ORANGE, DOES NOT SAY VPA ON IT, AND I BOUGHT IT FROM BIG JIM'S BOW CO. IT HAS A BLACK LEATHER WRAP HANDLE WHICH LOOKS VERY PROFESSIONAL LIKE BIG JIM DOES. IT HAS OBVIOUS TOOL MARKS FOR SHAPING ON SIDES OF RISER, POSSIBLY A PROTO TYPE?

    • @woodsmansfinest3814
      @woodsmansfinest3814  Před 3 lety +1

      Sounds like a prototype. If you like it, definitely keep it. More likely is that it is a Morisson though. Those are nearly identical.

  • @rogervogel5075
    @rogervogel5075 Před 2 lety

    Morrison used to make the risers for vpa that's why they look similar

    58" THEN 56" PLEASE CLARIFIE THE LENGTH? I HAVE THE SAME VPA. TRYING TO GET IT RIGHT! GLAD TO SEE THIS VIDEO! THANK YOU BROTHER! BEST REGARDS FROM THE USA 641...

      @woodsmansfinest3814  Před 3 lety +1

      Yup, made a little mistake there but mentioned several times that it was 13" with long limbs. So it is a 58" bow

    LIMBS! LOOK ON THE RISER END IF YOU SEE LITTLE TINY DOTS ON INSIDE LAMINATIONS IT IS BAMBOO (MOTHER NATURES CARBON FIBER!)

    • @woodsmansfinest3814
      @woodsmansfinest3814  Před 3 lety +1

      Been doing this for a few decades, including loving in Japan studying Kyudo. You can believe me mate if I'm telling you that these are maple limbs... Besides that I carve wood for a living as you can see in my other videos. The three distinct core woods that are easy to distinguish are maple, Ash and bamboo, which comes in about 1100 varieties and most of them are actually useless for bow building, some of them need to be carbonized/baked first to get the properties needed for laminations. Cheers
