    Have you used your air fryer to dehydrate foods? What did you dehydrate? Here's the Cosori Dehydrator → amzn.to/3xmCzGo (they also have this smaller one: amzn.to/3DRwLXS) and of course, my favorite air fryer, → amzn.to/2QtgPHq

    To be fair though, you can't try to dry it at that temp in an air fryer and expect good results. You need to test it at much lower temp at longer time. This test seems too skewed to give reliable results

    I feel like you were a bit unfair with the air fryer because you were given the dehydrator. I think someone else mentioned in the comments that you should have turned down the air fryer to 170 and let the apples cook for six hours like the dehydrator you probably would have gotten a similar results. I’m sure that your dehydrator especially a brand new one is much better than an air fryer…but for those who do not have a dehydrator we’re hoping that the air fryer would work. 😊

      I don’t think she was unfair, she was just unbiased. Given the amount of time, she was fairly generous with the airfryer but dehydrator just takes the cake, in which is fine too. Both serve their purpose but of course an actual dehydrator is better

    Just a little tip I learned years ago when I got a dehydrator. You can use any lemon/lime soda instead of lemon juice (which is pretty pricey) and water to keep your apples from browning. You can use diet if you're watching your sugar.

    I'm unboxing the one that I won on your Live and today I'm doing organic lemon peels for lemon powder because we use a lot of lemon zest and tomorrow I'm doing a bunch of organic shitake mushrooms to make a mushroom powder for a umami type spice additive and avocado to make avocado powder for avocado cilantro lime greek yogurt dressings. It seems that whenever I have the craving for that dressing, I never have avocados - so I'm going to experiment. And I'm not a fan of the texture of the frozen so... Then when I was shopping I got 5 lb bags of frozen organic cherries for $4 each so you know those are getting sliced and done Monday & Tuesday for snacks! I LOVE that you commented multiple times that it's so quiet since I'm using it in my office. I'll let you know! And Thanks again. You and Corsori are so amazing!

    I have a Presto digital dehydrator. They're ~$80 on Amazon. Things I have dehydrated: Apples-use a peeler-corer-slicer gizmo. Soak slices in lemon water to prevent the apple turning brown. I sprinkle slices with cinnamon with/without sugar before dehydration....yum! Frozen veggies-They are already blanched. Dehydrate straight from the bag still frozen...simple! I've also done jerky and fresh veggies - mushrooms, celery and carrots without blanching. Favorite snack (sounds weird) is shredded, fully cooked chicken sprinkled with bullion powder...low calorie crunchy, salty snack. Can also be added to soups and casseroles that call for cooked chicken. Dehydrated marshmallows for hot chocolate is fun too. When food is completely dry can store in air tight container. Purposeful Pantry here on YT is the queen of dehydration information. For storing dehydrated food with O2 absorbers, watch her videos. P.S. I love your videos! You are the grand Diva of air fryers. Air fryers and dehydrators are AMAZING for people who want to effortlessly gain weight. It hyper-concentrates the calories by removing the water. Our brains are hard-wired to desire higher calorically-dense foods. Removing the water creates a stronger dopamine response - that’s what tasting good is 🤗

  • @Axtewan
    @Axtewan Před rokem

    The main problem with using an oven or air fryer to dehydrate is the lowest temperature (170F) is still way too high, thus destroying the food enzymes. Dehydrators and combo units typically go as low as 90 degrees F; the internal food temp of dehydrating food needs to remain below 117 F so as not to destroy the food enzymes only to get empty sugar calories. I see that Cosori makes a couple of different combo units with a dehydrator function (Premium 5.8 Qt 12 in 1 Combo & 7 Qt 14 in 1 Large Combo Oven) in addition to air frying (and even microwaving), but living outside of the country have not been able to source the 5.8 Premium one yet... and very much would like to do so. I really want to use the low temp dehydrator setting for yogurt and kefir more than dehydration.
    Thanks for your reviews and demonstrations. They've been very helpful and from everything I've seen, I'd really like a Cosori unit, but may have to go with the lower quality/lower price GoWiseUSA 229256 air fryer with dehydrator, if I can't find anything else.

      I haven't tried the Power XL Air Fryer Steamer, but I do like keeping my appliances separate... sometimes you want to use a steamer AND an air fryer at the same time! (or pressure cooker and air fryer). Just my two cents! :)

      @@empoweredcooks thank you so much it does make sense to keep them separate I think I am going to go with cosori. I was also thinking that the power XL might stop working more quickly due to the fact that you are putting water into it🤷

    You should have set the fruit in the air fryer at 170° for four hours and six hours. Why did you wank the experiment like that?

    How about an apples to apples comparison? Cut the apples the same thickness, use the same temperature and time. You cooked the apples.

    I have a dehydrator for dehydrating, and an air fryer for everything else. ;-) Their functions are different for a reason, I guess. For the plastic mesh trays in a dehydrator, I just use sheets of plastic canvas - it's the same thing! I just cut my canvas sheets down to size.

    Too many side notes. Been watching for 8 months - getting too chatty. Too many references to technical equipment- let be you - but getting too loose!!!!! I know that is part of your charm -- but growing out of hand.
