He has spent a month of sundays just learing where the q ball is going coming off the rails at different. Thats why u see him sticking his stick out and looking at angles when he is preparing a kick shot
It is because before becoming a professional he played snooker and also 1 cousin billiard or something that gave him an extra ordinary sense of board and an ageless combined with his genius creativity. He is a monster.
For regular 8ball and 9ball yes, but Efren said like 9-11 yrs ago he don't like bank pool because he can't play position or control the cueball. So he isn't that good, because there are bank players that can control the cue ball, as well as bankers who don't care because they can make any bank. Billy Thorpe today would murder Efren in his prime in a game of banks. Mitch Ellerman too prob
His level of understanding of the game is light years ahead of ours. If you watch him, he's very nonchalant about most of these shots. He completely expected the outcome he got. There were only a couple of times that he reacted like "wow, that was cool!"

Glad to know most these shots I make with great accuracy and ease, given I'm the best bank player in the Mile High City. Have to practice long rail reverse English like the first shot... Easy to do on the short rails.
For the record, I didn't give thumbs down, but I would assume that the thumbs down are not for Efren but for the person who put together the video. The video maker doesn't seem to know pool very well since the video of his "magic shots" contains some shots that even I can make. For example, the 4-rail around the table shot is one a beginner can make with a little practice, yet it is shown TWICE. Other relatively easy ones are 2-rail bank shots (more impressive, but still easy, is to hit a 2-rail bank hard enough that it goes past the first side pocket then from there backs up into the other side pocket), long cut shots, and the easy kick shots. Back in the day, I made those shots many times. All the inclusion of such shots does is to dilute the effect of seeing the truly amazing shots which I wouldn't make in 1000 tries.
if u play against Efren, u make sure the rules & regulation includes "skill set can be upgraded to the highest level in the course of the game.., but magic is not allowed, just pure talent to be fair."
Man, I used to think that the sport with the greatest gap between regular player and the top, top pros...was golf. I mean, even a good publinx golfer is playing tic-tac-toe while the pros are playing chess. And other sports, a rec league player can hit a few 3s in a row, a baseball amateur can mash a home run perfectly, etc., etc. But this...Reyes, when he assesses a shot, isn't even seeing the same things most of us would. Conceptually, it's a different game. Combine that with apparent perfect stick control, and this is really something to see.
Those who always said Joshua Filler is the goat... They should watch this so they would know what are they talking about... Joshua Filler is just a piece of cake to prime Efren
My dad in the 1960s took me to see Luther Lassiter play an exhibition. I was about 12. straight pool, he ran 60 balls, and I was bored. My dad asked how many hard shots he made. I didn't remember any. "What does that tell you?" he asked. Then he had me work on position control.
The 4 rail shots are impressive, but not particularly difficult. With a little practice a novice player can make them, it's just a matter of getting a feel for the angle at which the ball needs to be driven into the back rail. As with many of his bank shots, Efren's magic is when he takes that shot with several other balls around on the table. He can tell if the lanes are clear or not. Insane.
This is cool. I know enough about pool to understand how he's doing these shots and have made good amount of these myself at some point during practice play but the major difference between me and him is, i may knw how, but it would take me a lot of tries to make most of these, for him he likely was confident to know he had a good chance of making many of these shots before attempting it during a match. I'd have to put thousands of more hours into pool and still likely won't have the consistency to pull of these shots like this during a real match. But this is why I love pool, the different levels of skill and mastery is just insane and even at the most professional levels there is still room for improvement and still different players with different skill sets. No one can possibly master everything, there isn't enough hours in a lifetime to do so.
To those who compare Efren to a a snooker player. Get real. If Snooker was famous in the Philippines, Efren probably would play it and master it. But Billiard and pool are the games of the Filipinos. Efren has tried snooker before but it is not his game although he can still kick ass of any world class snooker players. Efren knows angles and wont make a difference.
Some very generous sized pockets on most of these tables…definitely helps when the ball can bounce off cushions on either side of the pocket and still sink.
No matter how many people replicate he's tricks still it's not even close to the magician, because he did those tricks while under pressure and in championship tournament and that's not easy to replicate ;)
I made the mistake of putting it on high volume like what Im used to when watching videos here, but I almost got deaf from the 1st sound of screaming. LOL. That's Efren Reyes, used to watch his matches on our black and white TV then, inspired me to learn billiards though I was a short girl. Billiard tables are everywhere in my small town, well anywhere in the Philippines. It's the children and adults favorite past time back then, even some students skipping class.
Some of these shots are impressive......... IF they were made on a snooker table which is bigger and tighter pockets I would be SOOOO much more impressed. As a snooker player myself, most of these shots are not that difficult, especially when pool tables have pockets so damn big! That's why retired professional snooker players enter into championship pool tournaments, because they will always have a chance!
having won a few pool tournaments with a fair few trickshots involved.i have to say some of those bank shots were incredible, simply because they avoided the double kiss.seemed impossible to do that...

But this is why I love pool, the different levels of skill and mastery is just insane and even at the most professional levels there is still room for improvement and still different players with different skill sets. No one can possibly master everything, there isn't enough hours in a lifetime to do so.
Last one wasn't him and was set up.. easy shot. But the rest... he's the best!
The Greatest pool player of all time, Efren Reyes.
Some very generous sized pockets on most of these tables…definitely helps when the ball can bounce off cushions on either side of the pocket and still sink.
laws of physics: you can't do it
efran: you will see
laws of physics: even i'm not sure i can do it.
efran: i will teach you some day
I don’t know pool, but this guy has the most highlight reels than anyone. Where is the competition?
Just sayin’
No matter how many people replicate he's tricks still it's not even close to the magician, because he did those tricks while under pressure and in championship tournament and that's not easy to replicate ;)
2:09 That cut was so thin, the deli department called and asked for their slicer back.
Thanks for posting play a bit of pull myself really appreciate
For better understanding, watch all of Efren's videos at 0.5 playback speed.
Gentlemen, this is why Efren is 'The Magician". Was there every any doubt?
Ugh sobrang galing pala talaga ni Efren😍😍😍 ngayon kolang napanuod tooooo hayop. Michael Jordan ng billiards🤣
having won a few pool tournaments with a fair few trickshots involved.i have to say some of those bank shots were incredible, simply because they avoided the double kiss.seemed impossible to do that...
You're right some people will only appreciate the bank shots, but if yoy know a bit of pool avoiding the kiss is insane
Actually ..those different trick shots have not only been once done in situations encountered in his long spanning career as a pool hustler
One of the best played in Villar
the one in only efrin bata reyes..
Every game this efrin is what a nice shoot and spectacular move in this game.
he makes all the 8 ball pool trick shots come to life
His billiards shots is like poetry in motion or just like his shots are ballerina dance ..so enticing and inviting to watch 👀
He won the biggest pot money in billiard histort.. A magician turn into a wizard when he turned as senior citizen..
No he won the biggest pot in POOL history , stop calling this small table game Billiards .........
@@PhilipKerry oh common what ever...dont make things completed ...what ever you call this shit its all the same table plus cue with ball dont make us fools ..stupid ...there is no place here for like you asshole...pretending to know all but knows NOTHING BULLSHIT
@@maximocristobalvaldespino5408 First of all I have played Snooker competitively for 43 years in the Chesterfield and District Snooker League ( from where at least six professional players started their careers ) so I do know what I'm talking about as I also play the " actual " billiards . Secondly could you retype your post in ENGLISH ............
@@PhilipKerry So? what s your problem? i dont care what s your achievement in life...my concerned here is..stop insisting and playing as if you are always right in your opinion...respect the opinion of others we dont need your ranting..if you have problems about billard or whatever shitnit is discuss it in another venue
I love Efren's looks of joy!
Legendary yon last 😂😂😂😂😂 igan
