  • About the Webinar
Ever ordered food on Zomato or bought books on amazon? Ever booked travel tickets or hotel accommodations on Make My Trip or Booking.com? Or, on a slightly larger scale, purchased a valuable insurance policy, or purchased a flat which costs Lakhs if not Crores of Rupees in a metropolis? Or taken a loan, or opted for important medical procedures?
If you answered even one of the above in the affirmative, you are a consumer. Every person is inevitably a consumer, one way or another. Today’s digital age has exponentially diversified the realm of the consumer industry.
While the marketing mantra dictates that the customer is Queen, up until now, our laws operated on the ‘caveat emptor’ principle which cautioned the buyer i.e. consumer against deception, faulty goods & poor services. It held the consumer accountable.
As all kinds of goods & services are now just a click away, it has dawned on the law-making bodies that in the interest of fair play & equity, it should be the responsibility of the traders, sellers & service providers not to dupe or mislead the customers.
The latest amendments in the Consumer Laws governing the country operate on the “caveat venditor” principle which shifts the onus onto the seller.
No longer can marketing gimmicks be used on billboards, websites or advertisements by traders and service providers.
Did you know you could do a lot more than just write a bad review or waste hours on the phone with Customer ‘Care’ Service Providers in case you are not satisfied with the goods you bought or services you availed?
Watch this as we navigate through the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 & understand how the face of consumer litigation will transform in the coming days, how it will impact you, e-commerce entities, the corporations and other stakeholders.
