He praised the song to Sky High without knowing MSV was the Composer. He didn't even listen to Chitra Lakshmanan who corrected him saying it's not KVM, But, MSV. Any way it's a Thumping Victory to MSV. Pallandu Pallandu Pallayirathaandu is a verse written by Periyaazhwar, but this man wrongly said it's by AandaaL. I saw a few years ago in Sun Music, "Chippi Irukkudhu" Song was shown as Music by IR. In another Video in the U.Tube, for Ore Vaanam Ore Bhoomi Song "VaLaamaana Bhoomiyil Sugamaana KalaimagaL" photo of IR is shown instead of MSV. Let these illeterates wallow in ignorance. God only should save.

Sri devi father Iyyappan was from Sivakasi & not Virudhunagar. Of course they are nearby. Bhagdad city is not in Iran. It is in Iraq.
Understandably, you both don't want to reveal the "open secrets" of partition between Ilayaraja & Vairamuthu , though you both should know them very well.
It has been widely reported on the reasons for separation, on on line.
1. Vairamuthu had objected to Ilayaraja's music in a film whose music muted ,in his opinion, his lyrical line's as it could not be heard & appreciated by the audience.
2. This one is somewhat more serious as reported in media.
Vairamuthu had reportedly made some innuendo ( indirect slur) against Ilayaraja's caste back round in a public platform.
3. Vairamuthu wanted to write all songs for a film which Ilayaraja changed in a film roping in Poet Vali.
4. Vairamuthu while being busy didn't come in time whenever called by Ilayaraja.
5. Ilayaraja changed his poetic lines when he didn't come in time for a film.
These could be false or true. Truth could be more or elsewhere. But all these are in online.
The fault presumably lies only with Vairamuthu. One must be aware of practical truths most notably in film world .
Once, it must be at Vairamuthu's behest, Sri Karunanidhi himself made a oblique request to Ilayaraja to patch up with Vairamuthu. Ilayaraja didn't listen.
Recently when ilayaraja was hospitalized again Vairamuthu had obliquely made a laudatory reference to him on a public platform for his recovery in a bid to patch up.Both too didn't work for vairamuthu.
Then he tried through Seenu Ramasamy to permit him to write atleast one song in a yet to be released film produced by Ilayaraja's son Yuvan shankar raja.
He was rebuffed sternly. This third attempt too fell flat.
The reason is quite simple if we add up all facts arithmetically.
Both have deep ego. One has much more than the other. But the other one is forbidden by his ego to go to Ilayaraja to talk frankly & patch up.
He might have thought that It might be construed below his dignity or as surrender.
Vairamuthu should have learnt from Bharathiraja. The latter has no ego hassels at all. He is frank & also forthright in his views. Both traits are welcome.
He has had many differences in the past with illayaraja . Still they have been reunited all the time. How could it be ?
Many times Bharathy Raja had acknowledged & said that ilayaraja was a real genius in music. None could match him. That is an acknowledged truth by one & all. Vairamuthu differs & contests that.
Bharathy Raja or Vairamuthu can claim excellency justifiably in their respective field but not geniousness.
Bharathiraja knows this truth. But Vairamuthu's ego refuses to accept this. He wants equality with Ilayaraja.
Ego is a virus in one's personality. It keeps chasing mirages in practical life. Ego less is the happiest state & a peaceful paradise.
Even an amateur poet knows this. Unfortunately a great poet like Vairamuthu is ignorant.
Ilayaraja exhibits his ego through his work & also his acerbic speech while Vairamuthu in his laudatory speech only.
The public forgives Ilayaraja whereas it is not prepared to confer equality on Vairamuthu at par with Ilayaraja.
The difference is rhat Ilayaraja's ego is tougher but he is very honest. He has a helping attitude but obstinate too. Yet he never forgets or forgives other's insults.
Vairamuthu should know the history. There were many like him who were on the wrong side of ilayaraja.
Examples.
L R Eswari refused to sing his first song in Annakili.
P. Suseela blamed Ilayaraja for her error in singing in a film when ilayaraja was an assistant to music director Kumar.
T.M.S Soundararajan insulted Ilayaraja on a public platform.
None of them were given chances to sing in ilayaraja music in films subsequently except occasionally.
Janaki was too willing to sing his first song in Annakili. She has been
his favorite singer since then.
What ordinary people like most - music or poetry ? Undoubtedly music.
Who cares about poetry except very few intellectuals ?
Vairamuthu should have realized all these facts & accepted the reality. His ego only has spoiled his career for so long.
Besides, if Ilayaraja had denied him the first chance & persisted in his refusal to Bharathiraja then where would have been Vairamuthu ?
He would not have been known to the film goers nor to anyone in the industry till today . All his books would be sleeping in library.
He should have been grateful to others for their help. Gratitude is not Vairamuthu's great forte, it seems.
But ilayaraja is still grateful to Panchu Arunachalam for giving him the first break in film music.
And also to S. P. Balasubramaniam who helped him prior to his entry into film world.
Life is all about mutuality. None can stand on his own.
Unfortunately both fools & intelligent are in denial mode of this maxim.

Chitra Ji, looks like you were deliberately cutting Mr Selvaraj short and way too many edits too. All these days, I was of the thought that this was an honest attempt by you to bring the interesting stories behind movies, but now disappointed that you too are releasing only comfortable content.
No, Never. What he projected sometime ago about the relationship between Jaishankar & MGR was utter false. People in the film industry during Mid 1960's to late 1970s very well knew about the soured relationship between these two. Especially, in 1977-78, when Jaishankar acted in Kalaignar's film, Vandikkaaran Magan which had a political colour and had a dig at MGR and the ruling AIADMK Govt made MGR even more unhappy and when Jaishankar tried to meet CM MGR to handover flood relief donation, he refused to meet Jaishankar and also not accepted the flood relief donation money reportedly given by Jai. This sensation news came in many Thamizh News papers at that time. Chitra Lakshmanan conveniently covered up that incident. There was said to be one more sensitive matter for the soured relationship between MGR & Jai which is unwise to be mentioned here.

ur talk about KVM is excellant But people we’re behind MSV as usual, But KVM song Mayakkum Malai pozhude née po po, was used by MSV, in Gulebhagavali, Like many songs MSV life from other popular tunes which many may not know, ur very bold in appreciating KVM
Mr. Selvaraj's bias against MSV is evident in attributing Pullanguzhal Koduttha to KVM. He did not even have the courtesy to acknowledge Mr. Lakshmanan's correction of the same. I am not questioning KVM's prowess but where was the need to bring in MSV's name? In fact, all songs of the "Krishna Gaanam" were composed for pre-written lyrics as were many of his (MSV's) film compositions (Nenjirukkum varai, gauravam, Apoorva Raagangal to name a few) as well. It was the situation that determined whether "meter" or "matter" came first. Mr. Selvaraj (and you) would benefit by listening to the Endrum MSV program broadcast in Mega TV.As for "Mayakkum Maalai" MSV had no need to lift that (or any other) tune. That song was composed, I think, for Koondu Kili and could not be included in the film and the same producers wanted that song in GuleBhagavali even though MSV-TKR were signed up for the movie. MSV claims that he insisted that KVM's name be included in the credits but KVM, as always graceful, said it was not necessary.

But, honestly, what fraction would these be of the innumerable number of songs MSV has composed? My main grievance was why Mr. Selvaraj has to put down MSV while praising KVM? This has to be seen in the context of his interview, Part - 1 where he refers to friction between his close friend, Panchu Arunachalam and MSV.

NO DOUBT, MSV was the ONLY COMPOSITE COMPOSER to have composed music to a wide range of films to a wide range, to any situation, to any genre. Without knowing the background, don't quote Mayakkum Maalai song in Kule Bagaavali. MSV has openly said in an interview to Podhigai TV that Producer TR Rammanna wanted to use this KVM's tune originally made for one of his own films and MSV told that the music for that song alone by KVM be shown in the Title Card, but, KVM had reportedly told there's no need. For Modern Theatres Kaidhi KaNNaayiram, the song Konji Konji Paesi Madhi Mayakkam was lifted by KVM from the Hindi film. So too, for Sivaji Starrer film Uthaman, KaeLaai Magane KaeL Oru Vaarthai was lifted from Hindi. Why did you conveniently forget these samples? Do you say KVM is not a great composer because he too has lifted a few songs from. Other languages? Ridiculous. In the film, Pallandu Vaazhga (Thamizh Version of Dohonki Bharaat) why can't u compare KVM's version of Pudhiyadhoar Ulagam Seivom with that of MSV's Unparalleled composition of the same song for Chandrodhayam? Same MGR (Mentioned by you) only wanted MSV to do Ulagam Sutrum Vaaliban after realising the fact that none other was suitable to compose music for that Genre. Same MGR only insisted on MSV to do NaaLai Namadhe (Remake of Yadonki Bharaat) despite MSV refused to accept it initially. Both for Sivagaamiyin Selvan & NaaLai Namadhe, MSV composed his own tunes and he didn't adopt even a single song from Aaradhana or Yadonki Bharaat. Why did you conveniently forget these facts? MSV didn't shy away or hide about the few he adopted as it is or which inspired him to give a modified version with his Value Additions. Don't be biased. Be fair and accept MSV was a true creator who broke the trend of composing every song based on Carnatic Raagas adopted by his predecessors mentioned by you. MSV was the First one to have given Thousands of Compositions born from his own imagination rather than developing from Any ready made templates. If any one else did like him, he would certainly have gone mad. So, be fair and think twice before making loose comments. U R comparing MSV with his predecessors and saying others were not recognized. No, every MSV fan has got high regards for KVM & GR and held them in high esteem. At least KVM got national recognition for 3 of his films, but MSV & KaNNadasan got none, just not even a Padma award for their very big contributions. But, his songs got award for Playbacks. U compare MSV with his Successors and U will realise he didn't get adequate recognitions he deserved. Also, pls come out with the list of his succesors' songs that were lifted. If you don't know, track the list in the U.T which is very much available.

The Illustrious devotional Song: Pullanguzhal Kodutha MoongilgaLe was composed by MELLISAI MANNAR M S VISWANATHAN and NOT by KVM. This Entire Music Album containing 8 wonderful songs were composed by MM MSV - only to KaNNadasan's Pre-written Lyrics. Selvaraj's Statement shows his ignorance and his lack of knowledge . K V MAHADEVAN was a great Music Director, but MSV was a Composite Music Composer who has composed music to a very wide range of songs & films - to any situation, to any range and to any genre. MSV was a Composer Beyond Comparison, a Composer Nonpereil!. When he mentioned Panju Arunachalam didn't like Avandhaan Manidhan Songs, it shows Panju Arunachalam's lack of taste and his bias against MSV. Because, in Sivaji GaNesan's 175th Film Avandhaan Manidhan, all the 5 Songs composed by MSV to KaNNadasan's lyrics - Anbu Nadamaadum Kalai Koodame, Oonjalukku Poo Chootti, Engirundho Oru Kural Vandhadhu, Aattuvihthaal Yaadhoruvar Aadaadhare KaNNa and Manidhan Ninaippadhundu are all ever shining Gems and Super hit Songs. Panchu's dislike for MSV songs could be for some personal reasons.But, if he is the reference point, then Panchu and consequently Ilayaraja didn't like Mudhal mariyadhai , as per Chitra lakshmanan's previous posts. Just imagine, how this gentleman Selvaraj would have reacted to it if Chitra Lakshmanan had said it during the interview.

@@rravi1045 The joke is, he said he had a Cassette with him full of ONLY ONE SONG - continuously playing the song Pullanguzhal Kodutha MoongilgaLe. Ha Ha Ha!! So, even if he couldn't appreciate MSV whole heatedly, his mind, heart & soul have enjoyed that Song and he appreciated the Song to Sky High even without knowing who was the Music Director. It's a Thumping Victory for MSV.
