    I don't think I've ever spent more than $50 on a pair of jeans hehe... I think it would've been more interesting if your husband purchased the jeans and covered the labels... and you ranked them without knowing the cost..a blind test in a way...I think sometimes we're biased because more expensive things are SUPPOSED to be better... but I get that more expense usually means better quality

      As a guy, I honestly can't see myself ever paying more than 40$ for a pair of jeans, and where I live the price for clothes are 25% taxes. 25$ at H&M gave me good quality skinny jeans when they were on sale (and there are some jeans on sale nearly all the time), much better than the first pair she tried.

    The biggest problem with women’s clothes is that sizing is not uniform over brands.... it’s a problem because we can’t trust sizing, not even within the same brand :(
    I wish someone would work on making a women’s sizing system that every brand could use, and that would work with measurements instead of numbers...

      Unfortunately the type of material the jeans are made from would also make it hard to say "universal" chart because any jeans for me that are 100% cotton I take a size 10 (30) but any jeggings or jeans with less than 75% cotton I wear an 8 (29)....

      Exactly. Don't get stuck on the number on the label and insist to compare those exact sizes. We get it, it's annoying when your dress sizes vary from company to company. But please compare sizes that actually fit you properly for a fair comparison.

  • @Milabuco
    @Milabuco  Před 6 lety +485

    I'm getting some comments regarding my sizing choice (that I'm wearing too small of a size jeans for H&M): I have to be fair to all brands and follow the size they recommend and let their product speak for it self. I based my measurements (waist and hips) on standard ASTM sizing chart for body measurements, which are actually reflected in Nordstrom, H&M, and Dillards (Vince Camuto run bigger, which is the reason they were slightly loose on me). I am wearing exactly the size the stores recommend. Hence, if something doesn't fit, that means it's a quality issue, which is the point I'm supposed to show as part of a review (it shows who follows the standards and who does not). I hope that clarifies any confusion there might be about my choice of sizing.
    SO many of are giving some really great recommendations. I can't wait to try some of these jeans out! Thank you

      Milabu It's also important that people remember you're trying on new jeans. Almost all jeans, especially designer jeans will stretch out with wear. I used to work in a boutique and we had clients buy them skin tight bc they will stretch. Whenever girls didn't heed our advice and sized up, they often came back upset bc the jeans were quite loose after wearing for a couple hours.

    H&M has European sizes, so they run smaller than our vanity sizes in the US. For instance I'm usually a size 2 everywhere, but in H&M I'm a 4. And I agree with the other posters, don't take it personally but you might feel much better about the pairs you try if you try size 27. I know sometimes we get used to our size and don't want to go up a size cuz it doesn't feel good, but I think it would be more flattering on you and wouldn't "pop out everywhere" as you say, or feel too tight anywhere. Cuz believe it or not, those words are a sign of them being too small on you, they wouldn't bulge or pop out anywhere if they were the right size.

I have recently begin to buy jeans from a inexpensive chain store, but that is only because, they are distressed perfectly and secondly distressed jeans are trendy...so I would never spend a lot of money on trendy items. Between $15 to $40 for Adriano Goldschmied, Paige, Frame (yes, in the $220 price range), 7 For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, True Religion and a couple of other expensive, great quality jeans. How? Ebay, Nordstrom Rack, Poshmark, consignment stores and thrift stores. My closet is full of the above brands and I've never paid more than $39, if I'm not mistaken. Not trying to brag; just want others to know that it's possible to get really great quality jeans at affordable prices.😉

    i work for an international denim brand, denim with polyester are pure hell in the summer time and have a tendency to make a crease in the wrong place under the butt specially if the pattern is not perfect and depends on the weaving method of the fabric if the polyester is towards the inside, that is when you feel the scratchy feeling inside and sweaty heat. in general, composition of 98cotton 2spandex in quality fabric works the best in terms of fit and durability, denim manufactured in Turquey are one of best quality fabrics and handfeel, for 60-70 usa $ you can start getting a decent pair. i wish you tried on for comparison a 100%cotton that are very trendy and due differences in sizes per brand, you cannot buy denim from shelf by size, also actually each pair is slightly different, so you can try same size 3 diff. pairs and each will look different and finally, because i can go like this for hours :), you have to put them on and move, sit and only after like 30 min you can really see what is going on. I wear those $10 H&M jeans every day and they look awesome, feel awesome, and hold up amazingly well. They have high elasticity after washing even once. I've been buying them since they came out a couple of years ago. I'm fine spending around $100 on jeans, but I haven't found any that I liked as much as those hilariously cheap ones.
    You clearly need to buy a bigger size or maybe that specific cut doesn't work on you. Honestly, you needed to size up in almost every pair to avoid that sausage casing look and the rolled over creases under the butt in the back. You aren't fat in any way, so this isn't a criticism of your body. Buying clothes that don't fit just makes weird lumps/bulges/folds.
    The number on the label doesn't matter. Your body is what matters. Buy clothes that fit your body.

      Height has a lot to do with it too and bone structure. Petite girls wear smaller jeans than you’d think and tall big framed girls wear bigger sizes than you’d think regardless of fat content, though OF COURSE fat content plays a part lol. I use to where a 28 there and really I could’ve gone up in size and I was the same Size (look wise) as her if not smaller but ik I’m taller and have a big bone structure. I love getting a good deal on jeans at a thrift store. But, considering how long a great pair of jeans can last, $225 is worth it. If you have them for ten years, that's only $22.50 each year. And if a pair of pants is gonna make my body look good, then is there a limit to price? Think I need to start saving....skip the cheap jeans and save toward a great pair. THANK YOU for this!

      i don't know but in the uk, we have charity stores where you can get good items for cheap prices if the brand of the item is of good quality or you can buy stuff at tkmaxx. so it is possible to get cheaper items for a high quality price imo. but yeah i think in department stores, higher quality jeans are more expensive.

    I work in fashion, the 1st and last "expensive pair" probably has both mechanical stretch (engineered) from the polyester and the stretch from the elastane. But one thing I didn't know until recently, the % of elastane or spandex doesn't affect how stretchy it is. It's how the spandex/elastane is treated in the process of making the cloth. The fact that it's in there means it should stretch but the stretch % doesn't necessarily mean it will be more or less stretchy. Kinda cool to know.
    It's cool to see someone compare these! Nice job! I wonder, did you keep or return any of them?

    I bought a pair of Citizens, for almost $200 CAD with tax about 12 years ago. They are 98% cotton and 2% elastane-- the denim was heavy and required to be broken in. They started out mid-blue. completely "clean" not distressed, no whiskers. They were always flattering, but I actually get more compliments on them now than when I first bought them! They've become a light-ish blue, but can still be dressed up or down. I can't wear them at the office anymore as they've only finally started to get a hole at the knee. (I'll probably patch them up and keep wearing them.) Also, I only have 1 pair of blue jeans, 1 white, and 1 black, and I wear jeans about 3 days out of the week.
    I would say my break point is about $250 for blue and black jeans, but designer denim regularly goes on sale, so you can usually get a good deal. It's a slippery slope, once you go higher end, it's harder to compromise. My break point for white jeans, however, is about $70, just in case I have a really clumsy day... :)
    I've just bought a pair of Levi's for $113 with tax. They are the same fabric composition as the my old Citizens, again, lovely heavy denim. My husband accused me of buying an iteration of the Citizens. We'll see if these last another 12 years!

    Hi Milabu! Great video! I'm new to your channel, but I think PAIR #3 look best on you. You look slimmer from the front (not that you need to look slimmer), and your butt looks good from the sides and back. I'm also a size 26 and wear Rock Revival and some Miss Me jeans. But I also have a few pair of 27s because the fit is just different, even though they're all mostly lower to mid-rise and all skinny jeans. I have also worn the same brand & style in 2 different sizes (when I was visiting my sister and borrowed a pair of hers). The difference... how they're laundered. She's much younger and busier than me and launders her jeans like normal clothes, and I'm very careful with mine (turn inside-out, cold wash, air dry on rack then low last 10 minutes) so they stay looking new. Now that I know what size I am, I buy jeans either NWT or NWOT from Poshmark. I bought the exact same pair of $179 Rock Revivals from Poshmark for $60 and now I will never pay full price for a pair of jeans ever again!

  • @kelsibley
    @kelsibley Před 6 lety +76

    I have to disagree with this, in my experience. I used to wear more expensive jeans because I am so tall, cheaper brands never made long enough jeans. But they all wore out and ripped and were so tight and uncomfortable. I finally started shopping for jeans like $15-30 and they are amazing, I can't believe I wasted so much money on expensive jeans before. But nowadays, stores make a lot more sizes for tall and short people.

  • @firstdegreemordor
    @firstdegreemordor Před 6 lety +2

    I think another important factor to consider is durability, I used to only buy cheap jeans because I figured they were just as good as "fancy expensive ones". Unless you are incredibly small, your thighs will rub together as you walk and that leads to chafing and piling. So when I discovered the difference between $25 target jeans and $80 Levi's jeans (they often have discounts so it's closer to $60) it makes all the difference in how long my jeans last until they get holes. 1-3 pairs of quality jeans is something everyone should invest in, cause boy does it change how comfortable you are throughout your day and how often you have to buy new jeans. Money isn't really an excuse as you can buy gently used clothes from apps and thrift stores, instead of buying a $30 new pair of cheaper jeans you can easily find gently used jeans of a much better material and brand for near the same price range or sometimes less!
    Granted a lot of time when you get in the higher end of brands (Like 200+ range) many items just have increased brand value and not significant differences. It's good to have label you trust, but don't pay ridiculous prices just to have a label.
    k, sorry for the rant lol

    Thanks for this ! I haven't purchased a $$ pair of jeans ever.....I have thought about it ....but my idea of spending no more than $20 for a pair of jeans...well, that's just me. I also don't like my jeans to look faded, so when I wash them for the first time I put them in the washer after I have added the water I add:
    The recommended amount of detergent
    1 1/2 cups of Vinegar ( it doesn't matter if it's white distilled vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar they both work the same ) to the wash water.
    I then add the Fabric Softener Pearls /Beads...whatever they're called OR I add Downy Liquid in the Downy Ball.....
    **************************************************************************************************************************
    The Vinegar SETS the color on your jeans.....ACTUALLY to help prevent fading, add a 1 1/2 cup of Vinegar to ALL new clothes you wash.....then repeat adding vinegar every 6-7 washings.......it keeps your clothes looking new and is so much CHEAPER than Color Catchers....and besides you don't really know about all the chemicals that are in the color catchers....but there's nothing in Vinegar that will hurt you OR your clothing !
    Also, if you like creases in your SLEEVES or your slacks / jeans ......take a wet wash cloth, pour vinegar on the wash cloth, wring out and then put on the cease....and using a hot iron press the crease into your clothing ! This will keep the cease in your clothes for a while.....then when you want to put the cease back in the clothes, just repeat !
