I miss Stuart Scott!!! He was the standard for sportscasters for over 20 years. Disney is making a big mistake for letting go the voices the public loves!!! They're not done either!!!🤔🤣💯

ESPN/Disney is following the hiring/employment strategies of many medical systems like Sutter and Kaiser hospitals. They cut long time/veteran physicians with newly graduated medical practitioners at half the salary. Its the same model for ESPN.

I’m 55 years old and I very much hate seeing these faces and voices leave. But we need to face facts. The sports fan base is younger. And they are not only younger, these fans are looking at ESPN far less than we did when we were younger. Fans now watch less complete games and would rather just read stats and catch the highlights. The talent on ESPN needs to be younger, hungry and most important, appealing to the younger audience, just like ESPN announcers like Stuart Scott did for us. Stuart spoke the language of the younger viewer. Let’s not pretend these ESPN faces that are now leaving, once replaced the first generation of ESPN talent. Its time for the new generation, as sad as that is.

1000%. It's amazing we have lived long enough to see the changes in sports and how we absorb our news about sports on a daily basis. Former players turned anchors are more popular than journalists turned anchors. As a person who also enjoyed the names you mentioned, just a sign of the times - we are at that age now. But typical Disney a multi-billon dollar corporation, has been that way doing this for a long time now. The parks are the heart and soul of that giant and they will not jeopardize that at all.

It’s crazy that ESPN spent the start of this century getting exclusives, and failed to be ambassadors of the sports. They have done little to grow any of the exclusive partnerships where this was always going to be the outcome. Add YT having better (or more liberated) personalities like yourself, this was inevitable.

You get thumbs slightly up, namely because towards the end you mentioned Keith Olbermann. Like him or not, he came into ESPN from CNN with a wealth of talent and experience. He's been the more versatile and interchangeable entity from there. Quite frankly again "whether you like him or not." There is no cable news or sports figure more prominent than him. As for where you started this discussion Neil Everett, he's gonna be alright. There's no need to cry him a river. If Rich Eisen, Dan Patrick, Keith Olbermann. Hell, even Mike Hill, Jemele Hill, and Kevin Frazier (all born and raised in Detroit, MI USA) have transitioned beyond the sports realm and are successful. Then the thing isn't dying or so tragic. Disney in their defense have to make "business decisions," sure they may be incredibly greedy and even unethical. The last thing you want any entity to do is not create new stars or keep up with current trends. So I begrudge no company doing that. As for ESPN and news. I'm sorry but don't they have ESPN News for a reason? Now all the other branches I don't get. To which I say that's ESPN and Disney's downfall. Why do I need to watch 8 ESPN brand channels when I'm barely watching one? "That's the argument and nothing else." In fairness, why do I need to watch 3 Fox News Channels? Why do I need to watch 3 NBC News Channels? That's the grift and it's starting to catch up with these "business pirates" and fortune shillers.

This guy’s argument is all over the map; first he’s railing against a 61% pay cut then calls the contracts bloated; he rails against the cutting of established announcers then undermines his own argument by saying “nobody’s watching cable they’re going to TikTok, CZcams and Facebook watch.” Analysis should be insightful, not simply emotional.
