  • What's up, thanks for checking out my homemade Parallettes video.
    They are fairly easy to make, even if you don't have all the tools I use in the video.
    As a minimum here's what you will need:
    - Drill
    - 40mm Forstner bit
    - Saw
    - Screwdriver
    - 2 inch screws
    - Some wide timber - preferably 8" x 2" or 6" x 2"
    - 40mm dowel
    - PVA glue
    - Sandpaper
    Enjoy!

    Very nice, I like it when people making their own tools like this, it shows how they love their hobby.
    I also made my own parallettes, and everyone in my park asked, "How much you bought these?" And I proudly said: "Nope, I made them myself." "Wow, cool. They are so nice and smooth". Then they tried to use them and they looked interested 🤣
    Once again, good job sir.

      Yep. I find you get much more satisfaction making things yourself. That's awesome, keep up the training on your parallettes and thanks for watching!

    It's nice to see that Britain has partly adopted the metric system. Here in the US, metric is only used in the military and in scientific research. Almost everything else is "standard." Another nice thing about Britain is that your 2" x 8" timber appears to actually be 2" x 8," rather than 1.25" x 7.25."

    Is that specialty lumber or do they actually sell 2x's as 2" thick in Europe?

    • @Outdoorsandtraining
      @Outdoorsandtraining  Před 2 lety

      Hi, yes they sell 2” thick over here in the Uk, I assumed they did everywhere?

    • @Outdoorsandtraining
      @Outdoorsandtraining  Před 2 lety

      Or at least most lumber yards

    • @Gatesunder
      @Gatesunder Před 2 lety +1

      @@Outdoorsandtraining Most lumber in the US comes 1/4" to 3/4" shorter than its nominal length depending on what it is.
      For instance, 1x's are 3/4 inch thick, while 2x's are 1.5 inches thick. The width is usually 1/2" shorter until about 1x/2x8s or 1x/2x10s, which can be up to 3/4 inch shorter, so a 2x10 is actually sometimes 1.5x9.25-9.5.
      I've never really understood the reasoning given for this.

      @danielmurphy8481 Před 2 lety +1

      @@Gatesunder The label 2x4 was the dimensions of the wood before drying them out, during which they would shrink. That's why old lumber isn't perfectly standardized. Now, they mill the boards after the dry to standard dimensions.
