    Haley is 27 years old. In April of 2023, she developed Depersonalization Disorder. She experienced persistent existential thoughts, vision changes, couldn’t leave her house without experiencing the feeling of impending doom.

      Stopped searching for symptoms over the internet, stopped drinking coffee, cycling 1 hour a day. Aschwaganda helps to get rid of intrusive toughts, thyamine and B12 which are crucial parts in my recovery, fish oil omega3 and saffron extract with L-tryptophan, every person is different , CBD weed kinda helps too for appetite and sleep.

    These videos are so helpful just being able to listen to other people explain what you struggle to explain yourself its like we feel so alone and helpless but apart of us knows it does get easier we just cant make it happen faster which makes us more frustrated keep up the amazing work ❤

    coming back to this because it appeard on my home page....
    so my journey basically start after some zaza (ifykyk) i do smoked for like 2 years and enjoyed it but one time one bad joint made me fell in this state of DPDR that would constantly made me feel like im in a dream and nothing around me was really happening ,feeling like im not myself anymore + few physical symptoms like heart racing or ears peebing...these feelings would drive me crazy and made me think that i would never get out of this shitty hole...
    after a few months i could tell that im feeling better and these episodes of unreality just comes for like 5 mins and then go away as i STOP thinking about them and i know its really hard to do but the only reason why we are still feeling them its because we keep caring about them!!!
    these are some of the tips that i used to get out of it
    i just convinced my self that these feelings that i have are only in our minds and other people dont feel them
    i started to stop fiighting them and accept them and let them be
    i started living my life as nothing was really changed and slowly i stopped thinking about the feeling and thouths that were going thru my mind
    THIS HELPED ME A LOT AND COULD HELP YOU TOO,IF YOURE GOING THRU IT RIGHT NOW JUST CLOSE THIS VIDEO STOP THIKING ABOUT DPDR TAKE IT OUT OF YOUR MIND TALK ABOUT IT TO A REALLY CLOSE FAMILIAR DONT HIDE IT AND THEY WILL UNDERSTAND
    I THINK IM 90% HEALED NOW AND JUST NOT CARING ABOUT IT WILL SET ME FREE OF IT
    I WILL COME BACK WITH AN UPDATE

      Yo man I have some questions if you dont mind, 1. Do you still have the ‘vision’ problem, and can you think clearly now? 2. I am at the point of not having the panic/shock moments when addressing DR, or thinking about it, it is as if my mind just thinks ‘meh’ and I forget it and go on, did you have the same in your recovery? Can it be that it is part of the ‘recovery journey’? Thanks!

      @@mr.nostaforta34 im happy to say that everything it’s gone and I am living my live beautifully:) every problem that you have right now it’s just a mental thing that we keep reminding of it and we believe in it as it was a real thing but it’s just some mental shit that we want to get thru it as fast as we can because it’s not a great feeling…
      Once you just give up fighting these things they will disappear gradually….
      So stop watching videos about it and look up on google how to get over it…
      Stop obsessing yourself about it and slowly your mind will forget about it !
      That was an update for everyone that read my story and how I got over it
      Right now I feel like I’m 99.999999999% healed :)

    I recently bought the manual and it’s very detailed and helpful. I am going to schedule a call in a little while so you can kinda help me through the manual. I am, better for sure because of the manual! But sometimes it is still hard. But I’m trying to stay patient and follow instructions, I only purchased it very recently and it’s already so very detailed and helpful. Like your there in real life.

    Hi, there!
    I'm currently in my recovery journey, but had a similiar experience a few weeks ago with Zoloft.
    Actually, my doctor told in advance that I would be EVEN MORE ANXIOUS than before for 2 weeks. It was hell. Couldn't sleep, couldn't eat, felt very "off". It was hard to to identify if it was the medication or the anxiety itself.
    It's been a little over a month since I developed DP/DR and started taking Zoloft, but already feeling so much better. More good days than bad. In a little while, I'll be 100%!

    Thank you for that video! I have DPDR for 7 years now and I function, but suffer of course. The thing that I don't get is how to get out of the constant checking in on your self. It's so deeply integrated into me now that I feel like I don't even realize it that much, cause im also doing everything that I would normally do. Can someone share there techniques for that ? btw your manual helped me really understanding it better and gave me a lot of hope that it will go away one day!

    I remember exactly when mine started. I was working nights in a hospital, and also started using kratom and alcohol very heavily to be able to sleep during the day. The mixture of these two things set it off in a very bad way. I had already started to notice symptoms, but chalked them up to poor sleep. But one morning after work, I took my kratom and started drinking my wine, and boom. All of the sudden, nothing made sense or seemed real at all. I looked around the room and looked at myself, and immediately felt like I didnt recognize any of it. I had no idea what anything was, who I was, what I was, what reality was. Everything was completely foreign and terrifying. I had nothing I could grasp onto that could ground me. My vision got very strange too. The tiny bit of my sane mind that was left thought for sure that I had a brain tumor. I somehow drove myself to the ER. Which was an awful experience. They did CAT scans and all kinds of tests and of course found nothing. They kept me on suicide watch, then sent me to a psych hospital. That was a dreadful experience. I checked myself out and have basically just been living with DPDR ever since. That was 10 years ago. Its a constant struggle. Life has lost all meaning. I feel like I have no sense of self or identity at all. It still feels like Im living in a dream state. Its depressing. But Ive just been trudging through life anyway. Im tired of trying to explain this to people and doctors. Nobody understands. So Ive just decided I have to just live with this fate.

    I don’t know why is this feeling like i’m not alive or that my mind is totally empty and i’m not feeling my life . I feel so robotic , like i don’t even have a soul and i’m not me anymore . I feel like a dead person without a herat , memories, identity, soul etc .I feel so out of my body omg. I’m trying to don’t think about my symtoms all the time and i’m accepting all the weird feelings but i need your manual definitely 👍🏻

    Recovery is possible, sometimes we call it dpdr even though you just feel bad.
    The memories seem distant to me now and I can't remember what I felt then.
    It's actually a good opportunity to improve our lives!

    I feel like I don’t exist and I don’t recognize myself as well as it’s hard to do daily tasks like simply walking without panicking

      That's dpdr friend, nothing to fear about it. You are okay i promise. Its just a really high amount of cortisol and adrenaline entering your blood stream so it puts you in a hyper aware state of everything including yourself. Makes you question yourself and makes you think irrationally because that part of your brain only cares about keeping you safe. Think of the thoughts your having as false alarms from your nervous system to keep you hyper away. It does this because its scared to not be in this state because it thinks something bad is going to happen. You have to learn to redirect your thoughts to the present moment and get out of your head. you have to do this a bunch of times every single day until you are back to normal. You are safe though. Feeling uncomfortable isn't dangerous its just uncomfortable.

      @@maridorisrivera8140 best way to overcome this is to walk and talk and go towards the fear. You will feel really tired but ultimately you start building a relationship with your brain that these things are not something to be scared of. Little at a time every day. Gotta have perseverance.

    why my vision is so strange? i am so scared because i thin my vision is lost. i only have this symptoms. everything looks like a films like. somethimes i dont know have i vision or no.

    mine is worse it's over 13yrs now since 2010 ..i never recover and i even lose hope ..am used to it and choose to live nomal life..i wish i could know how to recover ..back then i was so stressed n i decided to smoke malijuana,,and that's how it started ..

    DEAR SHAUN:
    I have DPDR since 15 Months , the symptoms of dpdr are much better(no feeling of unreality or something)
    BUT now i feel a lot more anxiety and brain dizziniess…… is this a recovery process?

    Hey shaun, Im currently 16 and its been a month or so since it started from a panic attack, your videos have helped me with the anxiety but Im still in too much fear and it just keeps getting triggered with this constant tought of passage of time, any idea on how to stop this thought?

      Hey, thanks for your comment 😊 Firstly, please make sure that you’re speaking to your parents about what’s happening. It’s very important that they know what’s going on. Secondly, don’t worry, existential / intrusive thoughts like that (about time etc) are super common with DPDR. I know they can be frustrating and frightening but they are also temporary and harmless and will fade away and stop as your recovery continues 😊 www.dpmanual.com/articles/depersonalization-fears-and-anxious-thoughts/
      Third, I know DPDR can be frightening but remember that it's just your body and brain's natural response to stress and anxiety. It's not permanent and it can't hurt you. You can and will recover. Make sure to read through all the info and articles on my website at www.dpmanual.com

I have already spoken to my parents about it, they gave me some pills for anxiety and depression, but DP/DR kept going and it was even worse when I didn’t take the pills, although I must say it has gotten better overtime, first weeks were hell, but I know it will soon be gone since all I needed to do was to address the anxiety not the thoughts, Im also gonna check with my school physiologist and thank you again this has made my day!

    I've had this condition for 14 months now. A lot of my symptoms have gotten better, but the world still looks dim and colorless. I got it from a bad trip on Edible. Have I changed my brain chemistry forever or I will go back to normal?

    Please help. Hello guys, I am currently getting over DPDR, this morning i found out about it from this videos but everytime I open up this channel, it seems too good to be real, because it made me feel so good and relieved, it sometimes trigger response in me like its almost too good to be true, I think it would really help if any one just commented on this to know that I'm actually interacting with someone, I know it sounds silly, but these thoughts are 99% silly to most people. Hope everyone is doing good.

      Hey Ivan, thanks for your comment 😊 I know DPDR can be scary but just remember that it’s a natural reaction to stress and anxiety, and people experience it all the time. The National Institute on Mental Illness estimates that up to 75% of people experience at least one depersonalization / derealization episode in their lives. It's part of your brain's natural defence mechanism and usually it only lasts a few seconds or minutes at a time. It's only when it's focused on as a separate problem (feeling like you're going crazy / in a dream etc) that it can turn into a feedback loop with the anxiety that caused it in the first place. But no matter what caused it or how long you've had it, you can always switch it off completely by stopping that anxious feedback loop.       @@Dpmanual I'm very glad you've answered Shaun, what a great job you're doing man, it is surreal that only this morning I discovered your channel and informed myself about the condition itself. It doesn't even seems like a big deal from a scientific perspective, I think I only suffer from mild form, because I function pretty good and during less anxious moments of the day I get to feel relieved, hovewer the story is the same, bad weed experience. I already feel like I'm getting better, because I mistook for so many other conditions it only brought more anxiety upon me. Thanks again and for the work you're doing, you really are an angel to anyone with DPDR

      Thanks for your comment! 😊 So DPDR is an anxiety-based condition and (barring something like a major head injury) cannot exist without anxiety. Even though you may think you are completely calm, you are still feeling anxious. Maybe you're not anxious relative to having a full-blown panic attack, but your baseline level of anxiety has been raised, and so even though you may not realise it, what you consider to be calm now is not what 'calm' is to someone without an anxiety condition. Think of it like this: If you weren't feeling any anxiety, you wouldn't even be checking in to see if you felt DPDR. But don't worry -- all of the symptoms will fade away and stop completely as your recovery continues. 😊 Read this carefully: www.dpmanual.com/articles/depersonalization-without-anxiety/

      @@teresaroberts4578 start by accepting how you feel right now. Those symptons, those thoughts, they are just how you look at the situation at the moment. Understand that that's all your reaction to anxiety. That's all that it is. It's very hard and I understand perfectly that you're struggling to get out of that habit of thinking, but when you start to let go, you'll see that it was all anxiety after all. If you realize you spent 5 minutes feeling ok and not thinking about It, it can happen more and more and eventually, it's gone. Take It easy, don't pressure yourself so much. It's just a weird phase in our lives

    Im on sertaline i have been on it for like 10 years i was on 150mg gone up to 200mg and my eyes are blurry feel like im going blind constant depersonazlied. My dr told me to give it a few more weeks on the high dose but im conflicted

    Is it normal to feel confused about everything. The TV the couch the bed the walls in the room. Nothing seems to make sense to me. Peoples faces and the words coming out of their mouth? I’m pretty scared about this. I also have severe depression from this. It was triggered by a weed and benzo mixture I took for a panic attack and I had a terrible reaction from it that put me into psychosis for a month. I feel like I will never feel like myself again and the drugs hurt my brain.

      Hi. It is normal yes. I experienced this and thought id never go back to seeing how life was before. Id be confused about every single item in my life but just know it's the anxiety, now I just laugh ab it and have gone back to my normal self. if you need help let me know

    Can you get sleep paralysis from this because ever since I got this my panic attack has sometimes triggered sleep paralysis

      Probably cortisol levels, they spike in the morning

      i'm 31 and i was convinced that my age will not allow me to recover before i started seeing some improvment. now i simply don't believe that age matters. my sister in is her 50's and she recovered from this in 4 months by simply going back to work and taking care of her children. don't loose hope hang in there.

    Have you or anybody you know that has dp told you that their anxiety creating and obsessing over thoughts like “this situation isn’t real” or “you’re making this up/hallucinating this thing or person/people”, "what you're experiencing is a delusion right now", or “you’re in psychosis” as a result of depersonalization? They are very frightening intrusive thoughts and I’m beginning to wonder if it’s even a symptom of dp at all. I feel like im going crazy.

    The existencial dread is the worst. I can get my head into thinking about anything Else since it happened. Thinking about we're all going tô die onde day, about my body and Spirit... I feel like I can't enjoy life anymore because of intrusive thoughts ALL the time
