Every time I see a puppy I want another. I've raised 4 over the last 30 years, from 3-8 mo old to an average of 15 when it was time, when they let me know they would stay for me, but they were ready to go. Now at 50, it's just me and my 12 yo rescue, Daisy, a mix of Border Collie and Golden Retriever. Wicked smaht. (if you don't speak Boston, that's Wicked Smart.) In fact she is RELENTLESSLY smart at beating me in any and all attempts to.... . . . For example, not to visit the dog in the back yard next to ours. When I blocked the fence so she couldn't climb🪜over, she dug a hole 🕳️.. I filled the hole with rocks. Ha!! Right? So, BOTH dogs dig half a tunnel to join under the fence where a rotten tree had pushed the fence up a bit. It's like Canine Mission Impossible. Daisy got over to the OTHER side, hollowed out the tree a bit more until it leaned just enough for her to get her ample derriere through. Her pal & new partner in crime next door, Lulu Belle is a Scottish Terrier and had no trouble with the tunnel. Since my neighbor doesn't have kids (my dog is a rescue, and the father refused to take meds for his mental illness and this led to him abusing the kids and the dog. He also forced the kids to hit and kick the dog. The case worker's mom is my friend, she called me to save the dog who wouldn't eat or let anyone approach her kennel. They decided euthanizing was kinder than watching her starve herself) We have worked so hard, but kids are too unpredictable and make Daisy nervous. Me too. Any way. It took about 3 months for the Hoomans to give up on keeping these dogs apart. They get to visit at will. I work from home. When my shift ends at 545, Daisy will be sitting near my chair, eyes intent, tongue hanging out, ready for Daisy Time. I often don't know what time it is till Daisy shows up in my office. If I get a call that runs long, she will slam her substantial posterior against my chair, repeatedly, until the call ends, or I make her sit and stay in the door way. That's when the little growly-moan sounds start at about 5 minutes intervals. She will drive me insane until I give her whatever she wants. I keep this as fresh as possible in my head any time I want a puppy.

awwww he's really attached, but there will be a day he will be running about like he does at home!

Esme thats an amazing story, daisy sounds like she has an amazing tempermant. I hope our journey with Domo results in you raising a 5th dog :)
