Doyle is a well rounded guitarist, able to play many styles and a wonderful man of God. He conveys his music and affection to his audiences well and has a gift that blesses us all! I wish he could return to the Walnut Valley Festival soon! Bless you Doyle!

Marcel Dadi was such a talented guitar player. I was shocked to learn of his death on flight 800. There is no one more qualified than Doyle to pay tribute to Marcel. Also very excited to see Doyle working with Godin guitars. They are exceptionally well made instruments at a remarkably reasonable price. The tone and looks of this instrument is amazing!

Hmmm... You're not quite right... Marce Dadi had many friends, guitarists and "followers" in France and elsewhere (and of course, Tommy Emmanuel). For instance, there is Sylvain LUC, Michel HAUMONT, Jean-Luc THIEVENT (the 2 latter just performing together recently)... Check all these names on Google, you'll be surprised!

pmnc33 - I am not sure what you are saying... I never said Marcel had no friends. I simply said Doyle is an exceptional guitarist and well qualified to pay tribute to Marcel.

I never said that you said that Marcel had no friends (and I am in this Facebook group "Fan de Marcel Dadi". But just underlining this exact sentence you wrote "There is NO ONE more qualified than Doyle to pay tribute to Marcel"...
It's not at all a question of friendship! Doyle Dykes is a true "master" and exceptional guitarist, I totatlly agree with that!!
However, what I say precisely is -conversely to what you wrote- that there were/are OTHER guitarists FULLY "qualified" [and as qualified as Doyle Dykes] to "pay tribute" to Marcel Dadi; such as:
      - Jean-Felix Lalanne
      - Michel Haumont
      - Jean-Luc Thievent
      - François Sciortino
      - Patrice Jania
      And many others!!

Ok, I understand what you are saying now. I misunderstood. My apologies! Of course there are others qualified. I didn't mean Doyle was the only one. I was merely stating he was indeed well qualified. I'll look up the other guitarists you mentioned. Thanks!

Frontiers, walls are for silly people those who lost their humanity and replace it with materials. Musician go through all those things directly to our heart as Doyle do.

No Comments ? Very odd. Around 1975 I was looking around in a record shop and in a section marked international a record caught my eye. The name of that record was
La Guitare A Dadi. As I read the record cover I saw that the record contained Tablatures.
Not being a stranger to tab I bought the record just for the tab as I had never seen a record that actually came with tab. I played that record over and over and trying to learn to play those songs gave me great satisfaction and some frustration as well. Hearing that he was on flight 800 just made it seem like I lost a friend and teacher.

I didn't know that Doyle was with Godin guitars. When I met him back in 1999, he was with Taylor. I knew that he switched to Guild but I wasn't aware of this next step.
The point with Guild is: not every Guild is a 'real' Guild anymore. A lot of them come from Chinese factories. These are somewhat overpriced because they have this famous brand on them. I have one real Guild (a D-4HG) and I would not consider buying a Chinese Guild.
Last month they introduced some American Sunburst D-55, which is really nice, but it would set me back 4.5K euros, which is madness for an amateur.
Anyway, Godin brands are all fine: Godin, Seagull, Simon & Patrick and Norman guitars.
I have a Godin acousticaster, a Seagull 12-string and a Simon & Patrick 6-string, and maybe some day I will buy a nice used Multiac nylonstring just like Jerry Reed had.
I think it's good that Doyle endorses Godin now. They're good, they're affordable and they are ecological: using local Canadian timbers such as maple and wild cherry.
Plus the pick-ups and pre-amps from L.R. Baggs are fantastic.

Robert Godin is a happy entreprenneur, engineer. He is innovative and many folks do not know that for some years he made necks for Fender's bread and butter electric lines. Godin products are made almost entirely in North America and finely made too with the best woods. I own many guitars but no better all round instrument than my Artist, "Pepe Agostino" model or my Multiac! Several years ago I suggested to the Godin rep that Robert make a 7 string Multiac for the growing numbers of Brazilian "Choro" musicians. The rep said "no way they would do that" but Robert liked the idea and they combined the 6 RMC outputs with the analog out for 7 string and the instrument exists and is unique and the best! Merci! Robert. Merci beaucoup! Doyle. Live long and bless many!

Amazing ! But… I effectively see Godin guitars all around Doyle, but the one he's playing looks rather like a Seagull Guitar. No ?
