For viewers on the other side of 'the pond' like myself, I think it would be nice to see a map of England with the general sailing area indicated, then a look at a chart of the route, briefly before a video begins. I've been in the English Channel only once, en route to Amsterdam, as part of a 2007 Atlantic Crossing from Canada, so these videos of sailing in this area bring back fantastic memories. Plus, I grew up learning on a Mirror Dinghy my father built in 1970...#29647. I can recall how it smelled, watching these videos and I'm still on the lookout for it to buy back!! ;(
It’s on the south coast of England mainly around the Solent and Spithead which is the area north of the Isle of Wight, places like Chichester harbour and Portsmouth can be found on Google earth.
I sold my mirror end of season 2015, regretted it ever since. Seems we sail the same waters, I will look out for you next season. Another great video, Cheers
I do enjoy your Mirror sailing vids. I would love you to comment on any special sail settings or reefings etc. It adds a lot more interest. the few comments you did make were very hard to distinguish. Thanks again. Pete.
+Peter Barnes, Hi Peter, I am sorry about the audio, but my commentary was wiped out completey by wind noise. Still trying to find a movie software having both MP4 and an audio processor/equaliser. Maybe I can add a commentary later, which I will try to do. D
+Mirror Cruising, Yes a commentary later would be very nice from my perspective at least. I also own a mirror which needs repainting and has not been used for at least 30 years. It was my very first sail-boat and I loved it so much I could not continue to use it when the paint started to deteriorate, and so it has remained for all that time. I have since bought several other types of sail-boat including a Farr 6000 trailer-sailer which I use extensively, but long to do the painting and get the Mirror back in use. I admire your usage in respectably rough weather and it gives me ideas to do a bit of the same when I do get mine going. Cheers, Pete.
+Mirror Cruising, That would be great David, but unfortunately I live on the opposite side of the world at Brunswick Heads, northern New South Wales, Australia. The mirror doesn't need any fixing at all, just some fill in the paint cracks and a good couple of topcoats. It is even already rubbed back and ready for me to find the time. One of the last times I used it was a four day trip above the Gold Coast in company with a 14 ft. Hartley trailer Sailer and two of my sons, a friend and two of his sons. Most were on his boat with just one other at a time on the Mirror with me. It was a good trip and we had a great time, but since then life has been in the way until I retired and bought the Farr 6000. Cheers, Pete.
The more you watch davids videos its awe inspiring excellent stuff we all wish we could do
Amazing... look's very rough out there. I would be very anxious about being blown over. You seem to remain calm in quite rough water's. Well done.
Thank you, Donald. I had reduced sail to suit the conditions, so the boat will look after me.

Thank you for the nice comments. I will try to include a chart next time.

If you type ‘Warsash, England’ into Google maps you’ll find it.
Keep watching these videos what a great sailor david is
Thank you.
