Charleston having loyalty issues is hilarious. It is a city in South Carolina, was the first state to secede because of Lincoln being elected... 2 and half months before he was sworn into office.
Potato, Keep in mind that you don't only get free units if you build the district or a building in the IZ, but you also get free units if you convert from coal to oil back-and-forth, it's a little exploity, but sooo busted.
@@aidanabregov1412 it's an exploit you switch from coal to oil power and it just keeps giving you every time you complete the project it's proven already

Interesting start, since your science is going to be very strong with all those great campuses and you're building industrial zones you could even go science victory if domination doesn't work out
Actually temple of Artemis would work very well in your game because if placed correctly, it will boost 4 tiles (1 camp and 1 pasture in St. Louis and 2 plantations in Washington), giving you 4 amenities which will contribute in weathering the loyalty crisis
I once had a geothermal vent beside the Great Barrier Reef, and then a little way over a +4 campus mountain range. I think that’s the most turned on I’ve ever been by civ 6. And this is a game with chad Gilgamesh in it
Was randomly shown a video of yours and I am loving every minute. I was curious if you have a video going over your standard settings for games and the mods you use. Would love to try it out

I'm surprised Saladin didn't use the War of Retribution CB on you. It's a pretty rare one to pop and gives significantly less Grievances. It was a Formal War Dec after all, meaning he waited the appropriate number of turns.
I really like how much time you take to explain things when starting a series and I tend to quit a series before it ends because everything is becoming to hectic for me to enjoy watching. But maybe that:s just me 🙂
A video suggestion. If you finish up with the current new leaders before next months leaders are out maybe you could do some games showing off leaders and civs that modders have been coming up with like the like the Berbers or Telesilla leading Greece or even the mod that reworks Egypt to make them get bonuses for settling along rivers and a new early industrial zone?
Love seeing Potato back with Civ6! With your 3rd city settle, would settling the tobacco have been an option? I am assuming it's a way Lincoln can get the plantation luxury without the loyalty penalty. With regards Pantheons, although it doesn't change existing ones, Religion Expanded massively improves the religion game. It gives so many more options for Pantheons and religious beliefs.
I'm really looking forward to your first attempt with Nzinga Mbande. Everyone's playing Abe and Caesar on release but I think Nzinga's ability is stronger than people realise if they start stacking it with other percentage based buffs like those from Kilwa. Imagine Kilwa and Geneva suz and Pingala for Nzinga Mbande... +70% science anyone?
I'm already planning a Voidsingers and Reliquaries build with her. All that faith and yield boosts, with the bonuses for Relics that Kongo gets should be insane.
@aidanabregov1412 yes I believe if you load the same mods that potato has an then copy the world seed which should be on the map creation/ civ selection screen you should get the same map
how to settle cities: player: with careful consideration. ai: preferably as close to the player as possible, if you can settle next to his left buttcheek you should do it. mauri ai: land is land. just put it anywhere.
Abe does not need a downside with loyalty issues on plantations. He's already weaker than both Teddys. I understand the historic theme behind it but the bottom line is plantations are some of the strongest tiles in the game and Abe isn't so strong that he needed a weakener on his trait. The game wants you to go to war by giving you free units, but if you capture a city that you normally can hold on to with 0 or +1 loyalty, now if there's a plantation down you start losing the city to loyalty again.

Lately I have been always taking Magnus and getting the settlers do not take population promotion (because it is what you used to do). I wonder if you can show in the long run how that loss of population impacts or doesn't impact a city? I usually have my capital with the government plaza and ancestral hall cranking out settlers, but this feels limiting because I have to put infrastructure on hold.
my first lincoln game i planned for a giga industrial zone complex with a dam in the center and aquaducts and industrial zones around but it got way too delayed by barbs sadly
idk how I feel about the US custom unit, because the US has so much really cool stuff that would be a good custom unit, like making a Super Carrier unit, or a special unit that carriers can be made into by uniting with multiple modern naval units, which combines all those units effects into a single unit that is very very powerful, but kind of expensive considering you need to make it by making multiple units. Or really alot of other really good potential units.
Love the video(s)!!!! Is there a specific mod that is being used where you see the output from the pin? eg. The campus pin showing 4 science. I love using pins but I don't know how to show output when placing them.
Hi, new player here, I saw a couple of ppl online saying that IZ isn't really worth it but I see you pumping out IZ during your planning. Are IZ still worth it generally for other civs or only because of the abilities?
It honestly all depends on what type of victory you're going for. For a science victory, they're pretty damn handy because the Great Engineers have tons of science and space project boosting abilities. For culture and religious, not so much, just one or two good ones is usually plenty. domination can depend on what civ you're using, but a good production core of cities definitely helps in general for it.
Sorry to say that, you really have a pleasent voice to listen to. But, did you speed up, the video? It sounds like your selling Horses on an auction. This makes it a bit hard to follow if not fully concentrated.
Got a start last night had +6, +5, +5, and +4 campus locations all within the 3-tile max of my capital due to 3 geothermal fissures and mountains. I was playing Mbande Nzinga. *sigh*
Damn, I just played a game with her and my best campus was +3, just couldn't get any decent mountain ranges. With that many geothermal fissures together I take it you were on a continent split? Which isn't ideal for Mbande Nzinga given her -15% penalty to cities on other continents. Giga chad campuses though.
29:29 Potato is paying back for all those times the AI decide to put a random unit on the tiles he wanted to settle. Just on the turn he is going to move to the tile.

Gotta love how you accidentally divided your empire by continents and ended up having both Southern cities (Charleston and St Louis) surrounded by Northern ones, unhappy and rebelling 😅
I know -2 loyalty isn’t a huge debuff, but i rerolled three times to get a start that wasn’t completely surrounded by plantation resources. Still ended up with cotton (go figure) but also some juicy campus spots.
It would be cool if they also gave a production bonus if iron is in the city or has an encampment or something. I wouldn’t be surprised if they had a start bias with plantation resources, which fair, but still not worth the debuff
I've been getting awful start locations with Lincoln, one time i just got a plains forest with no growth tiles anywhere near, tundra to the north and only one tobacco lol

A district’s production cost goes up as the game progresses so by placing one (locking it in) then working on something else the cost won’t go up any more allowing you to prioritize other things that help the city more in the short term then you can go back to finish it later. It’s a very useful trick that will save you a lot of production.
