Jordan shouldn't be a owner players that great 9/10 dose not work they hold players to there standards it's not realistic plus jordan has been horrible at drafting
Jordan just setting up so when it's time to have a team in Vegas his the one to own it. He can't own the Vegas team if he still got the Hornets.
I’ve eaten at Taco Bell every day for the last 30 years, that doesn’t make me qualified to actually run a Taco Bell.
While it may be understandable for Jordan to avoid acknowledging his shortcomings as a GM, given his upcoming ownership stake in the Bulls, it's important to recognize areas of improvement to foster growth and success in any role, especially for someone who was so exceptional at playing the game.
When Larry Brown said "Micheal will only hire yes-men" that cat streaking out of the bag.
It was both him and Charles Barkley who said that.

Charles Barkley was right, I guess Mike had a real friend that told him the truth for once
It's sad, because true friends are really hard to find. If someone isn't willing to tell you the truth to help you, are they really your friend? I guess this is something MJ is going to have to learn in this lifetime.
Still hope MJ reaches out to Barkley, as much of a jokster Barkley is on the show, he was a true friend to Michael and wouldn't lick his boots just because he's MJ.
Facts! Barkley told him the truth and he didn’t want to hear it.
What did Barkley tell him..
I just wrote it. Did not see your comment ! Lol ! 100 % correct ! All yes man around him !!
No joke, I really like how Skip and Shannon have been respecting each other lately.
MJ doesn't have to sell his majority stake he should probably hire an actual GM
He will not do that. It has to be a person has a relationship with.
He'll take the slightest mistake of any hired GM personally
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Yes Yes 👍🏾
He has always had a gm . His GM MITCH CUPCHAK is the one who chose lamello.

MJ owes Jerry Krause an apology 💯
He owes him more than that. Thise Bulls team was assembled by KRAUSE and PHIL JACKSON was also Krauses decision even firing a playoff coach in Doug Collins.
both of them were maniacs lol
Whew maybe.... good one
Excellent point
Lmao no.
Pretty sure his draft strategy is to draft guys that he can beat at practice😂

That wins the internet for the day😅

Pretty much
If he turned down 4 first round draft picks then I see why the Hornets are struggling
Michael Jordan is a failure. Colin Cowherd was right
Wouldn’t have mattered. They can’t draft
I'm done I thought it was the gm making those decisions I was like get kemba some help now he's all beat up just like I didn't want to happen
He spent his whole career bullying Jerry Krause, ironically if he had a GM like Jerry, his team wouldn’t be in such garbage shape.
You know what you do with those 4 first rounders? You trade them for More first rounders till you have an entire first round draft class worth of picks than you can't miss!

In all fairness, he drafted Kwame Brown to trade him for Elton Brand but that fell through. He wasn't planning on keeping him. Similar to what Cleveland did in 2014 with Andrew Wiggins and Kevin Love.
MJ should have listened to Barkley and not surround himself with “yes men” that’s why his drafts and teams have been abysmal.
Charles Barkley was right about Michael Jordan as a GM. Although, Jordan is not willing to easily admit that, seeing as he is about to own a huge stake of the Bulls.
He’s a narcissist. They never admit they’re wrong. They can accomplish a lot because of laser focus on themselves. But when overmatched, they’ll just fail over and over instead of humbling themselves.

Its all perspective, as a "business owner" turning a 180 million majority stake in a business into 1.7 billion in 13 years is an absolute Home Run!! It's not what you look at, it's what you see .
The Hornets on court performance is different from the "business" profit & losses.
That’s little to do with Michael & more the fact the NBA is worth more cause of it becoming international & TV contracts.
Can’t like this comment just because I wanna keep the #23. Lol
Y'all tryna give Mike any type of credit😂😅🤣
It has nothing to do with Mike the NBA made it worth more
Bingo. That's what I was think.. Jordan knows this country is sinking fast and it it's time to cash in the chips. The man ain't selling because he's sorry about bad draft picks.. lol
Stephen A. had the best take I've heard on this. Jordan is so famous, and has been for most of his life, it can be hard to trust. And if you can't trust outsiders you can't surround yourself with the right people who can recognize talent.
In order for jordan to succeed he needs pippen as an assistant 😂😂😂

LeBron james carried an absolutely horrific 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers team to the nba finals
In the modern NBA era (post 1960) only eight NBA top 75 players have won a championship without another top 75 player as a teammate
Rick Barry (1975)
Hakeem Olajuwon (1994)
Tim Duncan (2005) (2007)
Kobe Bryant (2009) (2010)
Steph Curry (2015) (2022)
LeBron james (2016)
Kawhi Leonard (2019)
Giannis Antetokounmpo (2021)
As you can see, LeBron James is on the list and Michael Jordan isnt
Lebron james has won 17 playoff series, without an nba top 75 teammate. Michael Jordan won ZERO
In the year before Michael Jordan and LeBron James joined their team and the year after they left their team, their records were
83-84 bulls 27-55
84-85 bulls. 38-44
92-93 bulls 57-25
93-94 bulls 55-27
98-99 bulls 13-37 without Scottie Pippen
00-01 wizards 19-63
01-02 wizards. 37-45
02-03 wizards 37-45
03-04 wizards 25-57
02-03 cavaliers 17-65
03-04 cavaliers 35-47

10-11 cavaliers 19-63

2014-15 cavaliers 53-29
2017- 18 cavaliers 50-32
2018-19 cavaliers 19-63
2017-18 lakers. 35-47
2018-19 lakers were 20-14 when LeBron James got injured on Christmas day.
As you can see When LeBron James joins a team, the team improves more than Michael Jordan and when LeBron James leaves a team, the team always goes into the tank.
Michael Jordan, excluding the 94-97 seasons, when the NBA moved the three point line to 22 feet, was a career 28% three point shooter. LeBron James is a career 34% three point shooter
Michael Jordan was a great defensive player, in an Era where you could handcheck. Playing defense is much easier when you can handcheck. For nearly 6'9 250 LeBron James' entire career he wasn't afforded the opportunity to handcheck.
THE EVIDENCE IS CLEAR..LEBRON JAMES IS THE GOAT!!!!!
thats cold lol
Didn’t mention bron but Bron needs the whole NBA lol
He also needs Phil in the corner
Zing!
I actually don't blame him for the Adam Morrison pick..dude was the best player in college..putting ip crazy numbers...I still remember that year..I think that was same hear JJ was going too
Well you would be a bad team owner too
Never would have drafted him - Jerry Krause in the afterlife.
@@geronimopratt7976 😆
He didn't wanna call Scottie he would look bad..
Crazy thing is that the Hornets right now as of 2023 dont even have a bad roster they just been injured a lot. Melo, Rozier, PJ, Kelly, Hayward. They have some good pieces at least on paper, if healthy they can be good
Even Miles Bridges. They just havnt been healthy as a team overall
that is a pretty bad roster in the modern NBA… besides LaMelo, there isn’t another player on that roster who will come close to making an all star game in the future
This is a great example for when people ask why not pick former players to be a coach. It’s just a different job. I can’t really blame him for bad draft picks because lots of analysts make bad picks and lots of players that end up being good go undrafted or drafted late.
I agree not everyone can do it, but it's not uncommon for a player to become a good coach. Steve Kerr and Bill Russel are great coaches. Mike just doesn't have it
@@NK-qx6kk Good thing he is an owner and not a coach then
You can’t blame him for draft picks? I can blame him. He’s the worst.
I wanna know why we hold him to such a high standard as an owner and don't call out all these owners in all the major sport leagues who franchises can't get out of their own division and been sorry for way longer- btw he bought it for 275 mil gonna get a bil for his stake sounds like good business
It's a lot of non players in upper management that don't know what they doin - btw don't nobody tell the Ford family to sell the lions just saying
Shannon ain’t have to bring up the Birmingham Barrons tho, that’s an unprovoked roast that could have been avoided 😂
😂😂👏🏾👏🏾🤝🏾🤝🏾🤝🏾
He's keeping it real.
It's true Micheal has sucked as a gm, look at him with the wizards. Micheal was a great player, not so great at scouting player.
Don't forget he's an owner with 23XL racing in Charlotte too
He should have had everybody on the Jordan brand on the Hornets
Ronaldo the Brazilian soccer player owns a club in Spain and there's a story about him talking to one of the strikers on his team. Apparently he told him if you just wait for the goalkeeper to go down, you can walk around him and score every time. As Ronaldo did a lot. And the striker just looked at him thinking, that takes such incredible reaction time and technique you basically have to be Ronaldo to pull it off 🤣
You can't teach greatness.
My kids start NBA Jr. Hornets in July. Seeing MJ would be a great back-to-school story.
Mike didn't want people who weren't yes men. I don't feel bad for him at all. Not once during his ownership did they win 50 games. He people who know more than you. Not people who will kiss up to you. 💯👍🏾
It just goes to show that success on the field/court doesn’t guarantee success in the front office and is one of the main reasons why it’s getting harder and harder for players to become executives
@Beery never said he did. But he wants to win. Barkley tried to tell him he's got the wrong people but Jordan wouldn't listen. I believe he's more concerned about legacy than money. He already has plenty of money. What he doesn't have, that he wanted, was a championship as an owner. It ain't happening.
This video still has me weak lmao “Bismarck Biyombo” Unk is too funny bruh 😭😭😭😭😂
I Love these guys and this show, but why is Shannon always shouting 🤣His energy is hilarious, i love it
Jesus, he actually drafted Adam Morrison
Bad draft pick smh
At the time adam Morrison was nice to be fair lol
He was looking for the next Larry Bird.
Mike wanted to draft white players. He was trying to outsmart himself.

i think he looks good
You love skip or love to hate/hate to love?
Skip Jobs
I'm so glad they do this show together
I had to stop everything I was doing to hear Skip and Shannon speak on this situation.
Would also like to add this to the video, since it is relevant. In 2003 he tried to buy the Bucks, right when they were beginning to spiral into the darker ages of Bucks basketball. It fell through, because than owner (Herb Kohl) backed out when it was close because he was afraid that Jordan may have tried to move the team. Now, the Bucks were not very good at drafting, especially towards the late 2000s early 2010s until they got VERY lucky with Giannis. I'm wondering from looking at Jordan's ownership of the Hornets if the Bucks could have been even worse at drafting, and we may have not gotten Giannis.
That scenario is playing out in some other dimension right now
@@Joel-cw1gd 🤔
This one really hurt Skip to agree wholeheartedly with Shannon 😂😂
The money is insane MJ is going to get. The prices will go up. He will get more next year, but how much is enough.
Thats sad… he just needs to find the right people and let them do what they do
Now Jordan can get back to what he is truly the GOAT of ... selling shoes.
No mention of Gordon Hayward ? That's probably one of MJ's best moves as 😅a GM .
To be fair Malik Monk was like top 3 coming out of college, the man was on the media a lot before entering the NBA
man Jordan doesn't know how to get good players bc I think he compares them to him 🤣
Same as when Wayne Gretzky tried to be a coach and gm
Didn't they make it to a Stanley cup final and were perennial playoff team?
@@seanm3463 as an owner/self appointed coach Gretzky didn’t make it to the playoffs with the Phoenix Coyotes
No duo better than these 2
Glad it is hashed out between you both❕
Being able to see and pick and develop talent is a talent in itself just like coaching is I don't care how great of a player you were that doesn't automatically make you great at spotting talent
It's understandable that Jordan may not want to admit to the shortcomings in his role as a GM, especially since he is about to take on a significant ownership stake in the Bulls. However, it's important to acknowledge areas where improvement is needed in order to continue to grow and succeed in any role, including as a team owner.
I understood why Michael never looked at jerry west how he took a chance on a 17 year kid Kobe Bryant which came on as a top 10 of all time . Rip mamba

Mj use to tell Krause who he wanted and never got it for a reason.
Great news for the hornets!!
MJ🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
MJs greatest accomplishment is the rebranding to Hornets.
It’s simple hire coaches(mark jackson) trade draft picks for all star players. He made a mistake not keeping that 2010 team together when they had Stephen jackson Gerald Wallace and Felton. That was a squad to build off
Even though I'm from North Carolina, I never have and never will be a Hornets fan but I'm happy for the Hornets. Yall might get some competent leadership now
He just need to hire a GM and let him do the work
Skip looks so stressed out right here. Man loves MJ.
Before shannon worked 4 the show he had Jordan at number 1 and he had James at 5 just saying
That was back when LeBron had only the two Miami chips
Almost like that was almost 8 years ago
The greatest players tend not to be good coaches or owners.
Very few
Players Michael Jordan could’ve drafted during his time as Owner of the Hornets: Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Paul Millsap, Brandon Roy, Isaiah Thomas, Damian Lillard, Giannis, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker, Jaylen Brown, Rajon Rondo, Donavan Mitchell, Lamarcus Aldridge, and Cameron Payne
I still remember them Bobcat dayz😑😬😑... prly tyme for MJ to put the focus on his racing team he got goin' and on makin' new J's, MJ got this💪🤷♂️👉👉 ✌️
He should listen to Charles Barkley. You can yes everyone around u saying yes all when it's wrong
Lebron James has the same issue demanding players like Westbrook join his team, yet he is different from Jordan in that Lebron never takes accountability for being at fault
Rent free
You be the same people complaining that all the media talks about is Lebron 😂
Idk how many current and former players have to come out and tell you this "LeGM" thing is something that started on social media and LeBron does not craft his own teams. It's just something haters put on him for no reason. You think he was telling Pat Riley how to put together a team? He left Cleveland because he was playing with garbage. He's only picked 1 player his entire career and that was AD.
@@prolific1518 they didn’t let lebron pick ty lue as his coach but he somehow has the pull to pull off a westbrook trade

Only thing I have to say towards this is that all the players skip was calling blossomed but at the time Mj didn’t know that. So really can’t say if they would be a bust at the time. N compare to now n say he just chose wrong 🤔
Hopefully we become a better team cuz Jordan been holding my hornets back bad 🤦🏾♂️
His problem is the culture of his team. He likes to rule with an iron fist instead of promoting a culture like Golden State where they build up their players instead of ridiculing them
You know the saying “People who teach can’t do, and people who do can’t teach”.
A light can't illume itself. A knife can't cut itself. A fire can't burn itself. A great player simply cannot see beyond his greatness. Sad but true.
