My name is Bre. I took two years of small engine repair at the local college. When I left school, I fell into a wonderful job at a local small engine shop where I worked the counter for a couple years. In 2010 my husband and I opened up our own small engine shop in central Arkansas where I am able to work alongside my family and best friends. We see over 2,000 pieces of small engine equipment every year, and answer 1,000's of small engine questions. We specialize in brands such as Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Echo and Shindaiwa, but work everyday on MANY other brands like Stihl, Husqvarna, Honda, Craftsman, Remington, Red Max, Troy Bilt, Scag, Bad Boy, Hustler, World Lawn, Poulan, Mantis, Etc.. Hopefully, my experience I share, will save you Time, Money and Frustration in the future!

Thanks for introducing us to the rest of the team. Glad to see you making progress... but I am so glad that the end of your old shop didn't mean the end of Chickanic.
Only one issue with the shop's new wall. Not enough electrical outlets. Yea, electricians put outlets every 8 feet, however when you are working and need tools to run, you need a place to plug directly to an outlet. 4 outlets every 4 feet would be easier for you in the future. The extra outlet is another 2 vs 1 is only another $5 when installing, so it is basically free and makes your life easier.
Outlets and air connections!
Yes, absolutely. @@bayouslots3143
Only plugs needed is for battery chargers
What I was thinking, more the better
I was thinking the same thing...
You're definitely a celebrity, Bre!! Thanks for the update! ❤
I admire and would rather meet my favorite CZcams person than about any actor / actress you could name.
They are more of a real person instead of someone who played so and so in a movie.
@@stevecobb7844 You're SO right!!
if meeting you would bring joy .. then, yes you're a celebrity in my little world.
I agree with Hunter. With 357K subscribers, your a celebrity. That's a lot of people!
There is no barn or shop big enough for a dedicated hoarder. Ha.
Love muscle cars. 9 mpg goes with the territory. Just keep gas to $50 / month ! Ha.
You are so positive it’s refreshing. That smile can brighten any day.
Best of luck 2024.
My in law had her hip replacement done in July, she was painfree in two weeks, and 6 weeks post surgery is very happy.
I hope you and Dudekanic have a Merry Christmas. Prayers for him for his hip replacement surgery!
he will still be in pain after he gets fixed ! i do.
@@christalmoore9573
Thankfully not all people are unfortunate like you. I'm sorry to hear that you are still in pain.
It’s amazing how quickly a building can be erased and gone. 🤯
Get that hip done! My mother put it off for too many years. She was dragging her leg for a couple years. After the hip, she made several road trips from central Nebraska to Dallas, TX on her Harley Heritage. When the other hip started to act-up, she immediately got it done. It was like a 'second wind'. Sadly, dementia destroyed a very strong willed, independent mother.
A new shop will be fun. There is nothing like working in a building designed for exactly what you want.
The clutter is killing me though. Glad we have time to finally get things in order. The last couple months have been chaotic.
@@Chickanic The clutter can be a b#$% but it lets you take a good look at everything and eliminate the stuff you should have ditched a long time ago. We are all guilty of saving stuff we really can't use and the move will make hard decisions easier.
@@Chickanicwhat color are you painting the walls in your new shop?
@@Tripring2000 "Basket Beige". 🤣Just needed something to protect the wood and I didn't want gray since the shop and my house are all browns and beige's.
Old Jacobsen mowers were absolute TANKS.. used one as a teen and you could not destroy them
Word of caution : I"ve built approximently 100+ engines in my 74 years. Daily driver stock to Strip and street to full on drag race natural aspirated to blower engines ( a few record holders ). One thing I learned early on is that cleanliness is imperative to engine life and followed that practice from a young age and it has served me well all these years ! Please blow the 383ci SBC engine off with dry compressed air, then oil all exposed parts and bait with a plastic bag and keep it away from direct sun light and protect it from moisture ( rain or high humidity ) as soon as possible as to prevent further damage. Just a suggestion on my part. Love your videos and have been a subscriber for several years !
Omg - as a homesteader - good golly miss Molly - look at all that still good lumber being trashed - I see free chicken coops, barns , sheds and who knows what 😮
A Stihl sale and repair shop next door will do lovely for business. Good location with great traffic and well known location. I hope this is a win win situation. That 383 corvette engine will smoke 'em once you hammer the gas. Lots of money in performance and racing engines now everything going electric.
Bought my Homelite 20”, with B&S Quantum back in 1993. It now has 30 years on it, starts on first pull! I took a small engine class about the same time I bought it and the instructor told us the best thing to do was to run the gas dry each time you use it, and to use premium gas. Congratulations on your new shop!
I am looking forward to the gold sifters going through the dirt under the old shop for the dropped gold dust from years of grossly overcharging victims. That’s the way some people feel I think but in reality it’s a life long struggle to build a business.
Hey Chickie, you know you cheated on starting that Murray. A little bird told me that you had it running until it warmed up a few minutes ago. Gottcha !!! Seriously, good luck with the new shop. I really do enjoy your videos.
Clean that push mower up and put it on display at the shop. I am sure people will love seeing it
Thanks for sharing what a change in your life this will be it’ll be a good win!
I'm excited for sure!
Argument for your husband's El Camino! As the owner of a prosthetic hip and needing it replaced I wish I could have my neighbors El Camino. Low to the ground and big doors that open wide. Back home in Montana I had a neighbor that bought one just to make driving his wife around easier. He could roll her wheelchair into the door, remove the side and with a board slide her in and out of the seat and then easily lift the chair into the bed!!!!
Good luck with your surgery. Be sure to follow the doctor's and the physical therapist's orders and you'll heal faster and better.
With Respect, You are in my prayers
Hoka Hey
That old Breaks-and-Scrap-em Quantum sounded GOOD! You'll be happier when settled into the new shop and Ron becomes the Bionic Man... Ever thought of creating a Chicanic fragrance? I'm thinking "Eau de 2 Stroke"...
I love watching demolition also. Love watching those big machines working
I miss the old murray. I had my grandma's 22" cut from the late 80s. Bought it for less than $100 from roses. The deck finally rusted away 3 yr ago. Nice looking shop though!
Kool videos,& that old mower is a classic, hagd, blessings for your family.
🤠☮️✌️🌞👍
Sorry to see the old shop demolished, I didn’t know there was going to be a Stihl Dealer moving in.
I’m sure your local customers will know where you are.
Steve Small Engine, he said he’s not doing public work anymore but still working and doing CZcams.
In Sydney Australia we just had a huge shop go into liquidation in our local area , the Auctioned all stock off, yes I got a little bit of stuff not as much as I wanted prices where ridiculous high.
I don’t know what the future holds with people moving away from petrol engines, We are loosing choice of gas equipment.😪
The Garage/Sho, hello Ron and sons hello glad to meet you both😊
Like the Corvette, new engine, and Elcomino to come.😊
Hope all goes well with the new hip in January Ron…😊
Merry Christmas too you all
Ron’s New Hip Joint. Has multiple meanings. Merry Christmas the Bre and Ron and the kids and all the animals!! I ❤my Chickanic shirt and the tools like my scope and my weedeater speed head.
That shop should have been on the National Register of Historic You Tube places to prevent its demolition! :)
Congrats on your new shop! Looks like a steel structure and I hope it is. My wife and I went into our wood storage shed and found the raccoons chewed through the wood sheathing and made themselves at home. An unopened pack of insulation rolls destroyed as well as our artificial Christmas tree. When I said they made themselves home.... it was mostly a bed and bathroom.
Your electrical is behind the wall. I retired my house and code for commercial was conduit over the finished wall. Congratulations on the new shop.
My 383 doesn’t get more than 10 MPG’s. No right foot, that might change. Enjoy your channel.
A little bit of online detective work. Zoomed in on the “Shipley Doughnut “ at 2:33, looked up the address, pulled it up on Google earth, and Shazam, there’s your old shop in street level. 😎
the hip operation is a breeze! My wife had it done two years ago, and she was out hiking within six weeks. Now she also has two new knees, they were way more difficult to recover from. Remember, do your physiotherapy!!! it's a pain but it's worth it!
I see that kind of demo and I think of all the bits that are reusable. My area has seen years at a time of deep poverty and It's anything but relaxing...
Hey there Chickanic, that old Briggs and Stratton mower you could use as a loaner for when someone brings in their yard mower and is looking for a loaner while you're working on his/hers.
The new shop is looking great!! Gotcha some great help there as well make sure your hubby takes it easy on that hip.
got one of those only older and still use it to mow under trees. best mower ever.
Way to go celebrity! Your son nailed it on the head. You are a rock star!
Hope you got all the bodies out of the old shop.🤣
Great to meet your family/team! Best wishes Ron on upcoming surgery! Tomorrow I get laser surgery on both eyes & move from severe vision impairment into seeing again!! As a retired mechanic, welder, metal fabricator, machinist, I'm desperate to get my vision back, Amen? Projects have stacked up (10 small engine fixes alone). Get 'er Done! Blessings to you all! Paul
Possibly you could find a young person / or adult to train.
You have so many talents. Consider working your "magic" through their eyes and hands.
You're making headway! Did I see that the old shop had a river/lake view? How awesome. A suggestion: Before you finish finishing the walls, add more electric outlets. A shop Never has enough outlets! Ditto with the lighting. As a suggestion, use 12 gauge 20amp wire and. every other outlet. double gang (4 unit 8 plug) the 20 amp outlets.
Also, if you can. make sure there is a second or even a third door in case of fire.
Best wishes on the hip - I face the same thing.
You should have introduced us to Fido, looked like it was quite interested in the goings-on around and about.
Ron has great taste 2 ways. El Caminos and great lady!! Shop looking good as well!!
Wow, all those used mowers, it's a small engine playground lol! I've got a old Wheel Horse Raider 10 I use around my Dad's property, mainly to pull the trailer as I clear up the old trees, shrubs, etc. And it's my toy, as I have changed the drive pulleys on it so it goes zoom, also an old Poulan Pro mower with the 633 trans I've changed the trans pulley on it. They are my tractors and my four wheelers!
Thank you for your videos!!!
Thanks for watching!
The demolition of the old shop shows how futile many of the "security" features that we put on our houses and business are, whether it be locks, alarms, video cameras or extra-strong doors. A large excavator breaks through all of it within seconds.
I call it the "master key"
That's going to be an incredible shop. Yes, you are definitely a celebrity!
Even if YOU don’t see yourself as a celebrity YOU are the STAR of Chickanic! Tim in northern TN
I wish you would keep a cover over that 383. That’s a beautiful looking engine hate to see any bad particles land inside it and destroy it.
At one time I had several of those quantum's and I love those engines it's so easy to work on and they were like
You're not alone in feeling good while watching demo videos.
You'll never see a demolition guy at a psychiatrist's office.
yup....i say i've got a 8 year olds dream job😁
Celebrity, more like Small Engine Rockstar!💪👍
So much for trying to recycle. Look at all the room though. Your new shop will be better with new memories, since your hubby is so HIP ! You two have a great Holiday. ❤
Yes those old school briggs and Stratton mowers can pretty much run forever as long as the deck don't rust out. I had the 4 horsepower one, and that thing was still running when the wheels eventually fell off. Best mower I ever had. All I ever had to do to it was replace blades, change the oil every couple years, and clean the air filter. That's it.
I have that exact model Murray. Two decks rusted through so I bolted a
flat piece of quarter inch thick aluminum plate to the deck with spacers
where needed to level it. Also replaced all the wheel bearings with sealed
ball bearings on the third set of wheels. Engine is original, starts on the
first pull and doesn't use oil Been in service for 30 years and still going.
Very nice progress on the new...feeling nostalgic about the old, lol.
That old mower needs to be enshrined...
while i have previously seen the line of mowers outside your old place i've never seen the wide view of the front like i saw today. thanks for that.
Demolition is so relaxing to you because you don't have to put it back together. LOL
that's the damn truth
The shop is looking good. Prayers for Ron's surgery. I just had rotator cuff surgery last March and sure glad they can put us back together. Just don't let him do more than he's supposed to and have to start over. I know people that have done that.
you need another giant open sided roof . hi hubby ron, hi alex, hi hunter,😊
You are so correct 1 man 1 man’s treasure old machines are better machines their not made out of plastic and recycled tin cans Ike ever thing else to day I hope the best for your husbands surgery and the new shop 👍👍👍👍😎
I've got a Troy-Bilt mulching mower with a Quantum that I bought in the early 90's. Had to replace, repair, even JB Weld a lot of the Troy-Bilt bits. But that old Briggs is still going strong after all I've put it through!
I guess your son knows how to chase you off! lol! Looks like an awesome family. I just had both knees replaced this year. Best thing I’ve ever done. Sooooo much better.
Hi Chickanic and Co.
Working from home saves so many overheads, and can cause problems also.
Unless you set boundaries, customers you know might turn up at ridiculous times and ask you to fix their problem.
I had someone turn up at 9pm and said they had a problem with their mower, and I replied "The headlights not working?" as it was dark lol
I built a 6mx6m workshop (20ftx 20ft) in my back yard a few years ago as my business expanded, and I have plans to build a storage area as my workshop is packed and it gets annoying moving stuff around to make space to do a job, especially if it's raining.
Coming right along.
maybe a blessing in disguise
You’re a celebrity 💯what you do for us puts you in the lights thank you for being on here.❤❤
That high wheel mower is about the same vintage as my trash-pick MTD! It still runs strong !
Put a block of wood under the gas pedal. The bigger the block , the better the gas mileage. Lol. Good luck in your new shop
You're a celebrity for those of us that like working on small engines! Merry Christmas!
I have a friend that claims to be a mechanic, he has a 2-story 4-stall garage converted into his "workshop". Its packed "to its gills", both floors, and he has an 8 foot fence surrounding whats left of his backyard, which isnt really a yard, its a lawnmower salvage yard. I work more on riding mowers and lawn tractors, which are kept out of sight in my garage, and i can safely brag that i have a nice backyard to mow when necessary. My friend would be more than glad to relocate some of your unwanted stuff to his place, seriously❗
Back in the day I had a '74 Corvette with a 350, 10mpg sounds like a good day! 🤣
I have had a few small engines in my life that have kept things interesting. Right now my primary mower is a self propelled job that wouldn't start when I bought it and my secondary is an ancient Yard Man that needs a little help. I plan to restore the old one to as close as factory as possible. It's a 3½ horse with a vertical pull start. Those nylon gears are a bit delicate and the recoil spring housing needs to be replaced. Pretty sure it's a '77 or '78 vintage, so it has a lot of grass lopped off under it. Fuel tank carburetor has been gasketed once. Muffler and elbow pipe have been replaced at least once. Gotta get on it before I croak.
I had my left hip replaced in April 2023.
Prior to the surgery, every step I took was severe pain.
After the surgery, I only took about 3 of the potent pills the doctor prescribed and switched to Tylenol.
Within a week of the surgery, no pain whatsoever
I hope Ron's surgery goes well
Hopefully everything goes good with the surgery for you husband. ☃️👍👍
Merry Christmas to you and the crew. And yes, you are a celebrity. I absolutely enjoy your videos and you help me keep our equipment running. I'm so glad you are not going away.
Prayers for the hip replacement I had one in 2021 no more pain 🎉🎉
The shop is going to be great! Can't wait to see it dialed-in and in full operation.
All the best for your future family and bussiness endeavours. 🐯
Tell your husband to check out getting his hip done from the front.
I was driving and pretty much fully functional in a little more than a week
OH MY GOD ! The beautiful savage lumber in that old shed . That's old growth forest that will never be back . My God ! That old is so beautiful 😢😢😢😢
Young lady , you are AMAZING. My wife had a hip replacement , The bad ones are the knee. If an earlier date comes available take it.God Bless.
Hi chikanic
demolition like that is my dream job
your new place is gonna be great
I all was loved your videos
I just had my hip replaced a month ago. I can walk now without a cane or a walker.
He is young. Recovery will be fast.
Cool. Out with the old and in with the new. Good luck.
It’s a real blessing to be in your own building and not having to pay rent! Sometimes things may not look to promising when things are changing, but I can guarantee you having that new place is going to make everything about your business better! Hello from North Georgia!
Demo is great therapy!
All the best to your husband. I had my left hip replaced at 24 years of age due to a climbing accident. One revision and 25 years later I cut firewood, fish and take care of my homestead. But there is constant pain depending on how much I work and walk every day. Anyway, wishing You a Merry Christmas from Norway.
thanks for the awesome video's prayers for hip replacement and thanks for the update!
Rodney
Shop is coming along nicely. I would add an overdrive transmission to Vette to help with fuel mileage but as I like to say smiles per gallon.
Well it looks like you have good people with you and Ron get better soon ( I know how you must fell ) I wish you more power for your new Shop , you look like very nice people , it would have been nice to drop by but I live in Australia well good luck
Good luck in your new shop. Definitely a celeb mom. A celeb for us normal folks.
Remember the big fuel tank recall on Quantums ? Early '90's. Bet it qualifies. 👍
Get That Hip you both will be glad you did!!!
Your Awesome 🎉 Keep on keeping on. From Canada. Yup the Snow People.
Hopefully by adding a comment I don't get scammed by all your phishing friends. I agree with more outlets and I also told you that your building is too small. I like the Corvette update. Isn't that from the 70's. Anyway, I'm thinking that you are going to love working close to home 🏠. Also, keep us posted about Ron and his January surgery. Finally, ask the surgeon to take photos of the surgery. I had my surgeon take photos of my knee. It's awesome
I didn't know you could ask a surgeon to do that. They will take pictures during surgery?
@@Chickanic Yes, he took about 10. It's awesome. It looked like he had a bent fork spreading my skin apart.
Shop is coming along!
Would be cool to show how to properly clean an old mower covered in dirt/oil.
Shop is lookin good . That old murray was a good mower .
Wow, that must have been a lot of work to move everything out!
Yup! 40 years of parts and many years of collecting equipment. All sitting at my house.
Holy Cow, you will love that 383. I have one (97 block, 1-pc rear main), in my 71 Camaro. Difference is, mine has Holly 750 sitting on top, and I would LOVE to get 10 mpg with my setup. I'll be curious how that injection system works on yours, as I have threatened to switch to FI myself.
