    The frog is in the mould which leaves an indent in the brick .

    Brickwork with frogs is stronger, it bonds better.

    Uniform bricks as we know it originated in the Lowlands of Northern Europe, Netherlands and Belgium, the the piece that was at the bottom of the brick mould which formed the indent was to help release the brick from the mould was called a Kikker, the Flemish word for a frog is kikker.
