- Back together for the first time since 1991 and with only 3 warm up gigs under their belt, The La's minimalistic set on Glasto's Other stage warmed up for Ian Brown.
The Truely Anthemic There She Goes.
Quite simply one of the greatest songs ever.
Nice to see the band back together at Glastonbury. Sad to see here that there are a lot of people who really don't know what they are talking about. Get a life - sad people. Great vid, thanks for posting.
i was young and oasis were my fave band, the beatles i had heard from a young age and love even more but the self titled album "the la's" is the best album i have ever heard! this is one band that has only one studio album that could stand the test of time with anything! live performances are one offs and so were the la's! lee mavers i beg you write another album and if it is 1/10 as good as the first you will be doing alright!!!
you know, oasis is a very good band, thanks to them i hope we will never forget the old bands who made such good music. like the la's and the smiths
even now theyve still got it in them! awesome band!
Yes!
This was a great night. The La's played their album straight through with a couple of extras.
Then after Brown comes on and plays the Roses.
:D
WAtching this you can see the strength in John Power ( went onto a successful career with CAST & solo too) on the backing vocal! I over-looked that first time around!
Great band/ Great Track!
the la's are my fave band! they may not be the best in other peoples eyes as you said but when i first heard that album it was like a missing piece of the jigsaw! mavers may be a perfectionist but if he wasn't then he wouldn't be a genius, the pitfalls of greatness are sometimes far outweighed by the downfalls it creats, gazza, best, maradonna can all account for this.....
couldnt agree more.words cant describe how good that album is.lee wont be doin a la's album..he's recording stuff at the mo.we might never hear it because he's a perfectionist and probably wont release it.lets keep the fingers crossed anyway
Gallagher is the first to admit he we was inspired by the Las. Saw them a few times before the record came out - top top band. If you are reading this, you should put some of your stuff out on the web Lee.
they did play oxegen in 2005 and i was there.twas one of the best gigs i was ever at.fuckin amazing.
Lucky you.
1981 probablente de California fue muy conocida con esta cancion There she goes
Chiclayo-Peru
Leave Lee alone and let him create in his own time & place. Maybe he'll never write a gem like this again, but then again he might.
that drummer looks like john powers roadie. saw johnny boy at the carling academy, newcastle and he was awesome!
the guitarist is jay lewis.plays withpower and a band called cractilla.the drummer is mavers gardener
@TheSpringer6 i can hear an acoustic guitar, a bass, drums and a 6 string electric which is visible and clearly being played on stage...
who gives a shit if its about drugs, the point is its a catchy good tune!!!!!!!!!
That's where Noel G got that look from!
nice drum sound
Nice. Godd to see them perform live.
Lee Mavers and John Power are there. But anyone konows what happend to Cammy and the other Mavers?
amazing, In True LA's Style,
for all of you, they were never meant to sound polished y'know
They sound great.
Oasis isn;t even in the same class as Mavers and Power, the LA's second rate tunes rate a mile higher than anything oasis has put out,The more you search into Lee Mavers the more you realize this guy is is a fucken unique talent,Was it something I said,I am the key,Callin all,These tunes are priceless,I just hope he and Power are working on releasing something soon.
greate song :)
btw tell me plz what's this on singer microphone?
Just say no kids, look at Lee Mavers and then remember JUST SAY NO
me mate says this is about H. yeah, capital H. i never thought that....
- a couple o' fans in Texas
its a hard one to call.but ur entitled to the opinion.tis like anything.who's better the beatles or stones.most people would say beatles.then someone will come along and say the stones.so anyone giving u a thumbs down are just ignorant.
@stampedechobass You try moving in that crowd with a band playing everybody wants to be as close to as possible :P last time I tried that at glasto... well I can't remember what happened afterwards..
i didnt say he had to whisper.... do ppl always take comments to the extreme. Is it not possible to sing and not whisper but yet overshadow the actual lyrics to the song. Think smart one.
Tja, eines der besten Lieder aller Zeiten und ich als Drogenhasser habe 3 Jahre gebraucht bevor ich merkte dass das Lied über Drecks-Heroin geht. Trotzdem gutes Lied aus meiner Jugend.
hear hear
@babidaboopy Sorry to disagree, but I own and play a 12 string Ricky and I know one when I hear it. There is no other sound like it. ...It's on the original record, I can hear it on the clip ,but is not to be seen on the video. Therefore they are clearly miming , unless there is a "backliner" playing the Rick behind the stage . Really though the sound is too perfect to be live especially as these guys are a lot older in the clip than they were when they made the record.
Scouse power, you'll never undestand it.
Can expat Yanks relocate to Scotland to take up junkiedom fulltime? Because that's what I want to do every time I here this gem.
a fitty at 34 seconds....just thort id add my two penneth
I love that 60s Byrds sound they get on this gorgeous tune
These guys are miming . I can hear the Rickenbacker 12 string very clearly. It ain't on stage
No.
And the fact that they wrote a song about shooting heroin...
It's about a girl.
look, your all missing the point? The fact that you,me or anyone thinks they have a right to an opinion on the relavance of someone else's music or place in the withering domain of music within the census's popular culture thats defined by englands failure to appreciatte, let alone truly identify "a bloody good band"is a juxtoposition that pertains to the non-exclusive subsequent fore-telling that pre-dates forebodeing of appreciation. All that counts is basic?Dis you enjoy the song?
This guy looks like the dude from Oasis.
are you seriously comparing a group who had one catchy hit, hugely influenced by 'rubber soul', to the rolling stones, who reinvented rock music and have produced some of the most sophisticated and memorable music of the last 30 years? or the who? or bowie? or floyd?....
sorry, roger. you are having a laugh, mate.
Hits are not the measure, don't be wacky.
I would probably know you then lol.
wonderful song. lee mavers has lost his voice
Voices change. But he had dental surgery and was in pain I heard. Glad he saw it through. So happy to see them back together even if for not that long.
new drummer, please sit down. Lee and John are the stars, not you. and where's your big bass drum with The La's written on it? get with the program, man.
thats because the song is about smack
something very wrong with the drumming here. VERY wrong..
Oasis are, and always have been, overblown garbage. I mean come on: they quote from the beatles in their songs as if that will somehow elevate them. It's pretentious as hell...
i dont think Ian Brown and Liam Gallagher are cool at all
hoo
they don't look so good.
Look? Pay attention to the sound:-)
god, even for the 90 this sucked.
@mudspud01 Yeah they didnt seem to last very long did they
1983 to 1992, almost 10 years. The recording sessions took a long time but they played a bit in between sessions to keep the fund going & breaks. But yea, not long enough.
