  • Jim installs a new switch panel in his small sailboat, Bootstrap, a Catalina 22.
Jim's Little Boat is dedicated to helping beginning sailors and providing a video reference for work on their own boats. There are more than 50 videos in the Jim's Little Boat archives of You Tube. While some of the videos are very specific to Catalina 22 sailboats, most are general and apply to all small mono-hull sailboats.

Hells Bells Jim! I have been waiting for this video for sooo long! I am currently redoing a 77 CAT 22 and was hoping to see how you go about it. Another beautifully laid out video my guy!

Thank you Cameron--like most of my videos it is boring and too detailed (unless you are trying to do the job.) :) I really don't like the spade connectors, but at least if you make a mistake, it is easy to rearrange the wires.

Your videos are great. Very helpful with a Catalina 22 1979 I've had since April. Can you tell me how you clean up glue or caulking in the interior like you had around the old switch box? You mention it about 6:05

Hi Laura. I just use a combination of things. First a five-in-one scraper. If that doesn't work, I use a razor blade scraper like you get at a paint store. I have also used caulking remover and lacquer thinner and acetone. But the main thing is persistence. When I am doing new stuff I spend a lot of time putting down some masking tape.
