All I can do is totally agree with OldBoiler and Darryle! These men were professional entertainers with total class. They dressed for the concert, conducted themselves with decorum, and sang things they would sing in church or before their mothers. We just loved them. The church "sock hops" really gave dumb guys like me a chance to meet girls. Slow dances were the highlight! Thanks to the producer for affording us the opportunity to hear them again.
I was only 14 living in Southwest Phila. listening to Georgie Woods the man with the goods, when I first heard this song i'm 70 now, and I still can's get enough of this song, what a voice!
I hated when the British music booted this music off the air. Danced to this in 63 and 64 as a freshman. Then the didn't play much of this after that. It was sad. Wonderful that we can still listen to it. Music should be to make you feel good not for politics.
This is one old man who remembers when ALL entertainers dressed, talked, and performed with respect for their fans and audience who paid good money (not always in great supply to you young people). Notice how the lyrics wouldn't embarrass your grandmother, the guys dressed as if they were there to perform as a group, not just a bunch of random homeless, the songs actually had a tune, and the singers practiced the old rule that you don't turn your back on your audience.
This was so innocent and pure. You could actually understand the words, and feel the emotions. How I long for the words and sounds of moving music. Frank Sisti
The Dubs and the Five Satins...best do wop groups ever...Such love songs that are so heart felt. My number #1 song of all time!! with In The Still Of The Night ...they're in my Hall Of FAME.!!! . And in my Collection CD's and some on 45"s and albums.. Ed ins SA,Tx.
High school dance 1961. This was playing. Clumsy weasel me got up the courage to ask the prettiest girl in school to dance. She accepted! That night I died and went to heaven.
Their will never be music like this again. The 50s and 60s were to great era's for music with wonderfully arranged songs like this.Thank god we have youtube for these golden oldies.
Richard Blandon's smooth, soulful voice is so touching and to have the other Dubs back up only makes themusic even more perfect. How could this music from the heart ever go out of style? Such a tragedy.
this song makes my mom cry when ever it is played, it was the song my dad would play before he would take her out for the night, now he is gone , love you pop and so does mom.
You know--I think it's really important to recognize the huge contribution black artists made to opening the minds of people growing up in the 50's and 60's. As a white teenager in that time-- doo-wop and r and b music changed the way I looked at life and taught me to support and respect the talents others regardless of race. Genius is genius!
Now this is when music said something to the heart ❤️ and made you want to fall deeply in love. It will never die. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰😂💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
it was a terrible injustice that a lot of the bands/groups from this era didnt get the big bucks they rightly deserved, but what a fantastic legacy to leave behind. These classic songs will last forever and be loved by all generations.most if not all artists would love to leave behind such a legacy.
The Dubs could do it all. Unmatched harmony. From love songs like Chapel Of Dreams to rockin' piano pounders like Such Lovin' - to story telling that hits home, like Don't Laugh At Me. Thanks for the tunes, Dubs.
My hubby introduced me to this kind of music when we met. I grew to love the music and him. We were together 46 great years, til 6 years ago. Always think of us dancing when I hear it.
I couldn't have been no older than five when l first heard this song and standing in the mirror trying to sing along..That was 1959..Today l celebrate 67 yrs on this planet..Could This Be Magic..Truly love this song.
Of all the great doowop songs...I think this is my favorite one. Love these guys..when singers could actually sing and the lyrics and sounds were awesome. BRING DOO WOP BACK
Met on a bus in 1963 Both felt the magic it's lasted for the past 55 years still fell the magic my prayer is that everyone could feal that magic best music in the world from the 50s & 60s
The Rock & Roll HOF is dirty. So many great performers have been snubbed. The Dubs along with so many other performers were incredible. I miss this era.
This takes us back 2 a very special place and time in our lives. This music dissected and transcended everything we faced as a society. Prejudice? What prejudice? We didn't know what prejudice was in the 50's and 60's! And it was this thing called Doowop this music and groups like the Dubs that changed everything!
I love watching this and blessed to have this footage. The lead singer Richard Blandon is my grandfather. I was a child too young to remember him in person but he is my mom's dad. Music has run through the blood line of all of his grandchildren from my mom. and his great grandchildren.
This song is absolutely beautiful! I can close my eyes and envision slow dancing in the school auditorium under the mirrored ball with a first date. It was so romantic! I don't know if the kids today get to experience this type of romance or not, I sure do hope so.
I doubt the kids of today, or tomorrow, will ever get to experience the romance that we knew back then. Kids of today don't have this kind of music and they have been brought up on a steady diet of commercialism and violence. We have the industrial plutocrats to thank for the destruction of everything good that our grandparents worked so hard to give to us that we wanted to be able to pass on.
I'm Brazilian and this song marked my childhood... I saw an American film called "Cadilac Azul".... this is the name they translated into Portuguese... even Patrick Dampsey is in this film... the film tells the story of a father who is about to die and asks his children to get a Blue Cadillac for their mother... but in reality the father wanted to bring the brothers closer... to make them spend time together.... anyway....among so many situations that happened in the film, one of the brothers falls in love with a girl....and precisely in a certain love scene....this song starts playing....this scene has never left my memory head!....
I was born in 70 and grew up listing to the 50's and 60's music thanks to my mom who passed away last year. But still listen to it as the music had meaning which today's music lacks.
You have to love these guys. This song is performed with excellence. They were a class act. This is one of my favorite songs of all time. An incredible song.
This song is so deep and it is played by me to give me strength with life and my wiccan magical practice as i am a solitaire and often alone but not lonely!!! The fairies delight in this soulful tune!! Blessed be!!!
A very special time. We were literally blessed with these great singing groups, such as the Dubs. These were the years, while as a young child, I listened and watched as the teenagers of the 50's danced and grooved to this music. This song, was, and remains, one of the very best of Doo Wop. I love it still today!
🥰 Yes it still makes me cry at 73 yrs young. I listen to all of my favorite oldies everyday. So many memories💞 Our music back then was truly...Magical. The Best.😘 Love and Peace to you always....💞✌️
OMGODdess!! I just turned 72 myself, and you say your teenage years, what you and I both was 13 years or so at that time, I was not part of the Wild n Out teens at that time, but none the less I had to go to the show because my Mother was supportive of her husband work.
As I said before I was only 17 years old 😅🙆 This beautiful amazing gracious beautiful song was our national anthem 👏 You are very kind and a very special person ⭐ Thanks for letting me share my thoughts 💬💭 with you Have a bless day 🌅 or night 🌃 JAH LIVES ONE 🕐 LOVE 💕 Stay safe everyone 🙏 PASS IT 👀 on 🤝 GOD bless 🇺🇸✌️I really appreciate people like you who listens and watch ⌚ these oldies but goodies songs Especially like this one 🕐 Thanks 👍👏🤛🤝

EARTH ANGEL. SUCH A GREAT 50'S TUNE!!! SO GLAD I WAS SOMEWHAT PART OF THAT ERA!!!THIS YOUNG MAN CAN SING? SUCH A WONDERFUL, SMOOTH VOICE! WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THIS YOUNG GROUP??? I AM ONLY FAMILIAR WITH THIS SONG FROM THEM!? THANK YOU
Great sound, great choreography ...that voice! Class Act! Perfectly executed ... just perfect, from start to finish! Oh, and great lyrics ... my dear Lyrics: Could this be magic My dear My heart's all aglow Could this be magic Loving you so Could this be magic My dear Having your love My prayers were answered So far from above I thought it would be Just a memory To linger my heart in pain But to my surprise I opened up my eyes And I'm with you dear once again Could this be magic My dear Having your love If this is magic Then magic is mine Could this be magic Then magic is mine
Great point, black artists of the 50's and 60's never got the full respect and credit that they deserve.
The 50s had some of the greatest African American singers in the annals of history
And still do today...
No hats on sideway,no pants hanging off their buts, Just real Gentlemen with real Talent.
😂
Hear, hear! The best music ever!
All I can do is totally agree with OldBoiler and Darryle! These men were professional entertainers with total class. Amen
OMG...the romance in those days...
This is when men looked so smart, and also they could sing, this is amazing..lovely words to the song also..................
I think I'm the only 19 year old who actually listens to Doo wop and love it a lot. My grandfather got me hooked on doowop.
You are one lucky girl. God bless your grandfather.
This is one old man who remembers when ALL entertainers dressed, talked, and performed with respect for their fans and audience who paid good money (not always in great supply to you young people). U.S. Air Force Veteran Richard Blandon on lead vocals - the man could sing
GOD BLESS THESE 5 MEN - THE DUBS - THEY BROUGHT LOVE TO THE WORLD !
This was so innocent and pure.
You could actually understand the words, and feel the emotions.
How I long for the words and sounds of moving music.
Frank Sisti
These guys and singers are the people who should be in The Rock ans Roll Hall Of Fame.
a lot are. check out the list under r and r hall of fame.
William, you are absolutely correct. This is true R&B,Rock & Roll not the stuff they've elected to call Rock & Roll .
I agree
ABSOLUTELY!!!! Why aren't they?????
The Dubs and the Five Satins...best do wop groups ever...Such love songs that are so heart felt. My number #1 song of all time!! with In The Still Of The Night ...they're in my Hall Of FAME.!!! . And in my Collection CD's and some on 45"s and albums.. Ed ins SA,Tx.
I had that magic for 47 years of Marriage, and together for 51 years, Music is the only way that I can still hold onto the memories.
Bill. Cherish those memories
Those harmonies cut to the heart. A timeless classic
You are so right!😊

Love them vocal harmonies groups of these eras 1940s 50s 60s. I wish todays kis would bring doo wop back
This song is what epitomizes" Love Songs"--it'll NEVER DIE..
Back when music was deep meaningful and had actual talent
Richard Blandon's smooth, soulful voice is so touching and to have the other Dubs back up only makes themusic even more perfect. How could this music from the heart ever go out of style? Such a tragedy.
Such a beautiful song and performed with class by the Dubs.
this song makes my mom cry when ever it is played, it was the song my dad would play before he would take her out for the night, now he is gone , love you pop and so does mom.
I love the songs of the fifties especially 56 and 57
You know--I think it's really important to recognize the huge contribution black artists made to opening the minds of people growing up in the 50's and 60's. So natural & timeless .
This just pulls at my heart. Makes my eyes tear. sounds almost sacred.
The older I get the more I appreciate this kind of music, even if it was somewhat before my time.
Loved it in 1957 and still love hearing it.
There will NEVER be another time or music like that of the 50 s and the 60s. the kids of today will NEVER understand what it was back then.
Frank Welch AMEN !
Frank Welch you are 100% right.... never again.... would love to go back for just one day
They will never understand, what a wonderful era it was..I am glad that I am on my way out, and not my way in, in this world as it is today..

The Dubs were so great. And as much as I love this song, "Please Don't Ask Me to Be Lonely" gets to me even more. Perfect, perfect records.
Nothing has matched the magic of doowop in 60 years
Met on a bus in 1963 Both felt the magic it's lasted for the past 55 years still fell the magic my prayer is that everyone could feal that magic best music in the world from the 50s & 60s

this was a real love song when men were real men and real gentlemen....ahhh for the good old days.
They were black! They never got the respect they deserved. One of the greatest songs of all time.
This takes us back 2 a very special place and time in our lives. This music dissected and transcended everything we faced as a society. Prejudice? What prejudice? The music that was made for AM Radio. You never truly experience this music until you hear it in AM. It had a very unique sound especially when they played it on those "all night" stations that carried over several states. I grew up in the 1980s when this music was very much alive on "all night" oldies formats on stations like WLS Chicago, WOWO Fort Wayne, WHAS Louisville, to name just a few. I still listen to the music today thanks to CZcams and a decent collection of 45s I have amassed over the years. The Dubs were a class act!

Great sound, great choreography ...that voice! Class Act!
Perfectly executed ... just perfect, from start to finish!
Oh, and great lyrics ... my dear
Lyrics:
Could this be magic
My dear
My heart's all aglow
Could this be magic
Loving you so
Could this be magic
My dear
Having your love
My prayers were answered
So far from above
I thought it would be
Just a memory
To linger my heart in pain
But to my surprise
I opened up my eyes
And I'm with you dear once again
Could this be magic
My dear
Having your love
If this is magic
Then magic is mine
Could this be magic
Then magic is mine
I loved these guys from the start. The lead has a velvet voice. The background guys are beyond good, they are great.
My husband died years ago and I still remember this song and what it meant to us; how much I still love him
