February 24, 1995 - Dave Matthews Band@Roseland Ballroom in New York City featuring Trey Anastasio and John Popper. This is my favorite DMB version of this great Dylan song.
Thanks for posting this. Can't believe only 68 views. This version is legendary. DMB at their most exciting time, Trey at his best...if only there was a video!! This is THE best version of Watchtower ever. My how time flies.
Ahhhh i used to have this on a bootleg and it got destroyed by my girlfriends cd player. I miss having this. Best version ive heard of this song. Music at its finest
i agree, this by far is the best version of this song, i agree 679 views wow!!! i find it amazing, i was happy to see it. you can never find it, and the sound quality is awesome, good job my friend!!!!!
@jordanmb1836 Can't believe I found this on here either! That being sad, I've always thought Trey played this more like he was trying to actually "play" Hendrix, and less like he was playing a Phish rift. He rocks the hell out of this song like no other time I've ever heard him, live or recorded. Love it!
Trey at his best? Are you kidding me? Dave Matthews couldn't touch Trey Anastasio with a sixty foot pole (in other words Trey has more talent in his foreskin than Dave Matthews has in his entire dueshbag existence ... please let us not dilute ourselves, this was simple for Trey to play, and he has had MANY more moments well higher than this on his totem pole
His best was simple to play as Trey is and always has been amazing but this compilation of DMB, Trey and Popper back in 95 was simply amazing. It is a great piece, played by phenomenal musicians
I remember where I was sitting when I first heard this version after I downloaded a copy of this on *Napster*. Was a huge Blues Traveler fan and got heavy into DMB and Phish after. Great version.

Remember it on Napster. First time I’ve heard since my burnt cd from 98 finally stopped playing.
Best version of Watchtower. Ever.
Fully agree
Thanks to Trey
Some people think this is a DMB song. lmao. Great cover though.
Phenomenal. Trey & Popper are so bad ass.
First heard this back when we traded tapes
Thank you for posting this. I used to have a bootleg tape of this song but lost it. I’ve searched for this on YT but didn’t find it.

Has this never been released for sale? I cant find it anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find this version?
Anthony Ross I got on bootleg and wore it out for years. Nothing like DMB in these days.
